Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini mengkaji masalah peningkatan kemampuan penalaran dan disposisi matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran dengan pendekatan metaphorical thinking. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan bentuk desain quasi experimental. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMP kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Jakarta Timur dengan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Adapun sampelnya sebanyak 27 siswa kelas VIII-3 sebagai kelompok kontrol dan 31 siswa kelas VIII-5 sebagai kelompok eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes kemampuan penalaran matematis serta skala disposisi yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Analisis kuantitatif dilakukan dengan menggunakan Uji ANOVA dua jalur serta uji lanjutannya, sedangkan analisis kualitatif dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil analisis secara kualitatif diketahui siswa kelas VIII dapat memetaforakan suatu konsep matematika serta dapat mengaitkan antara satu konsep dengan konsep lainnya. Selanjutnya hasil analisis secara kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran melalui pendekatan metaphorical thinking lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional, sedangkan peningkatan disposisi matematis siswa antara kelas yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan metaphorical thinking dan kelas yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan cara konvensional tidak terdapat perbedaan. Tidak terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara pendekatan pembelajaran dengan kemampuan awal matematis terhadap kemampuan penalaran dan disposisi matematis siswa.

Abstract

The aim of this research are examining to improve student’s mathematical reasoning and disposition by metaphorical thinking approach. The research utilized a quasi experimental design. The population in this research are students in grade eight from one of junior high school in East Jakarta. As concern, the sample was 27 students in VIII-3 class for control group, and 31 students in VIII-5 class for experiment group. The instruments comprised of mathematical reasoning test and disposition scale. The quantitative analysis is used a two-way ANOVA, while qualitative analysis used a descriptive one. The result of qualitative analysis shows the students were able to metaphors a concept and also able to make connection between concepts. Futhermore, the result of quantitative analysis shows better increasing mathematical reasoning ability by metaphorical thinking approach than by conventional teaching, while there was no different increment in mathematical disposotion between two classes. There was no interaction effect between student’s prior mathematics ability and teaching approach toward student’s mathematical reasoning and disposition.

Abstract

The primary aim of this study is to enhance students' adaptive reasoning ability by applying the problem-based learning model. The chosen method, a pseudo-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design, was selected for its rigorous approach, instilling confidence in the research process. The population consisted of 105 students in class V, with a sample of 41 students selected, divided into 21 students in the control class and 20 in the experimental class, determined by the purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a test to assess adaptive reasoning skills. The data analysis, conducted with an independent T-Test, revealed that the adaptive reasoning ability with the PBL model was higher than that of students who applied the expository learning model. These findings, based on a robust methodology, suggest that the PBL model has the potential to significantly enhance students' adaptive reasoning skills in mathematics.

Abstract

Abstract: Good numeracy skills are essential for elementary school students because it helps them think independently and develop useful skills in everyday life. This study aims to determine how effectively the ELPSA learning model assisted by the Wordwall application improves students' numeracy literacy skills. This research uses a pre-experimental quantitative method with one group pretest post-test design. The sample used a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique with the effect size test obtained a result of 3.61 and is included in the very high criteria, which means that the use of the ELPSA learning model assisted by Wordwall application is very effective in improving students' numeracy literacy skills. Abstrak: Kemampuan numerasi yang baik sangat penting bagi siswa sekolah dasar karena membantu mereka berpikir mandiri dan mengembangkan berbagai keterampilan yang berguna dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa efektif model pembelajaran ELPSA berbantuan aplikasi wordwall dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif pre-experimental dengan bentuk one group pretest posttest design. Sebanyak 24 siswa dari kelas V menjadi sampel penelitian menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data dengan uji effect size didapatkan hasil sebesar 3,61 dan termasuk dalam kriteria sangat tinggi yang artinya penggunaan model pembelajaran ELPSA berbantuan aplikasi wordwall sangat efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa.
