Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires teachers to integrate interactive learning media into classroom instruction. However, many teachers still lack understanding of technology-based learning tools, particularly Edpuzzle as an interactive video-learning platform. Therefore, this community service program aimed to help teacher to have knowledge and skill in using EdPuzzle as an interactive learning medium. The activity was conducted at SMPN 1 Sungguminasa through preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The training methods included lectures, demonstrations, question-and-answer sessions, and hands-on practice. The program began with an introduction to EdPuzzle, followed by training on creating interactive learning videos. Participants then independently developed 5–7-minute interactive videos based on their respective subjects. Evaluation was carried out through observation and participant response questionnaires. The results showed that the training was successfully implemented and received positive responses from participants. Most participants stated that the training improved their understanding, skills, and motivation in utilizing educational technology. This activity is expected to enhance teachers’ pedagogical competence and digital literacy while supporting more engaging, interactive, and student-centered learning experiences.

Abstract

Abstract. Organic waste problems that continue to increase require effective and sustainable management solutions. One alternative that can be implemented is the utilization of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae or maggots as bioconversion agents for organic waste. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and skills regarding maggot cultivation based on organic waste as an effort to support sustainable waste management in Takalar Regency. The activity was carried out at PPLH Puntondo involving 19 participants through counseling, interactive discussions, demonstrations, and direct practice of maggot cultivation. The evaluation was conducted using pretests and posttests to measure the improvement of participants’ understanding. The pretest results showed an average score of 53.15, categorized as sufficient, while the posttest results increased to 84.21, categorized as very good. This improvement indicates that participatory training methods are effective in enhancing community knowledge regarding maggot-based organic waste management. In addition, participants gave positive responses to the activity because maggot cultivation was considered easy to apply and provided environmental as well as economic benefits. This activity is expected to encourage active community participation in independent and sustainable organic waste management while also creating opportunities for environmentally. Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the practical skills profile of prospective science teacher students on Newton’s Laws through a written-test-based final examination. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach with a total sampling technique involving 92 valid students from three classes. The instrument consisted of multiple-choice, sequencing, classification, and image-based identification items designed to measure four aspects: identifying tools and materials, assembling apparatus, reading measuring instruments, and analyzing observation results. The data were analyzed descriptively using categorization based on score ranges. The results showed that students’ overall practical skills were in the good category, with an average score of 68.6%. The findings for each aspect were as follows: (1) reading measuring instruments achieved the highest score (75.7%); (2) followed by identifying tools and materials (72.7%); (3) assembling apparatus (58.7%); and (4) analyzing observation results (42.7%), with the latter two aspects falling into the Fair category. These findings imply the need to strengthen instruction in data analysis skills and procedural understanding of assembling experimental apparatus.
