Abstract

Financial administration and promotion of religious activities at the Attaufiq Gumuruh Mosque in Bandung are still carried out manually, resulting in inefficiency, the risk of recording errors, and a lack of visibility of information to worshippers. This community service aims to develop an Integrated Financial Information System and Mosque Profile Website as a digital solution to improve administrative efficiency and optimize the promotion of activities. The research method uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with stages of needs analysis, system design, implementation, testing (blackbox testing), and evaluation through questionnaires. In addition, this community service uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method through training and mentoring of mosque administrators and youth, involving the active participation of administrators in system development so that the system can be tailored to needs and be user-friendly. Functional testing results show that all features are running optimally, while user evaluations (administrators and congregations) show a satisfaction level of 89% in terms of ease of access and speed of service. The implementation of this system has been proven to increase financial transparency, reduce administrative burdens by 40%, and expand the reach of promotional activities through digital platforms. The combination of the financial system and the mosque profile website is an effective solution for the digital transformation of mosques, supporting accountable governance and active community participation. The community service conducted by a team of lecturers and students from Muhammadiyah University Bandung and Widyatama University recommends the need for regular training for mosque administrators and youth so that they can optimize the mosque profile website and web-based financial information system to increase donations and online fundraising campaigns

Abstract

This study aims to revisit the concept of employee motivation, from classical motivational theories to their applications in the digital workplace. The study employed a qualitative literature review approach by systematically searching five academic databases, namely Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Garuda. Articles were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in fifteen studies published between 2020 and 2026, complemented by several foundational theoretical works as the conceptual basis. The data were analyzed using a narrative synthesis approach involving theme identification, comparison of findings, and conceptual integration. The findings indicate that Self-Determination Theory remains the most relevant theoretical framework for explaining employee motivation in the digital era. Although digital transformation does not alter the fundamental psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness, it reshapes the mechanisms through which these needs are fulfilled through remote and hybrid work arrangements, algorithmic management, and gamification. The synthesis produced five conceptual propositions and an integrative framework explaining the relationships among digital workplace conditions, psychological need satisfaction, and motivational outcomes. This study contributes to the literature by integrating multiple dimensions of digital transformation into a unified conceptual framework grounded in Self-Determination Theory. It also offers practical implications for organizations in designing human resource policies and management practices that foster and sustain employees' intrinsic motivation in the digital workplace.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed communication patterns, particularly through the use of social media as a platform for information sharing and interaction. This phenomenon requires university students not only to possess digital literacy skills but also to apply ethical principles in digital communication. This study aims to analyze the role of Management Study Program students from the Class of 2023 at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung as mobile citizens and mobile beacons in the era of social media. The study employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 87 respondents selected using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The findings indicate that most students demonstrate responsible digital communication practices by verifying information before sharing it, applying the principle of tabayyun, utilizing digital technology for self-development, and contributing to a positive digital environment through the dissemination of educational and Islamic values-based content. However, the use of social media to support academic activities still requires further optimization. The findings suggest that the internalization of Islamic values contributes to shaping students into critical, ethical, and responsible digital citizens.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of business politics in supporting sustainability programs at Prudential Life Assurance Indonesia. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method through document analysis of sustainability reports, annual reports, Financial Services Authority (OJK) regulations, the company's official website, scholarly journals, and other supporting sources. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis by examining the dimensions of external business politics, internal business politics, and the implementation of sustainability programs. The findings indicate that external business politics is reflected in the company's compliance with OJK regulations, active participation in industry associations, and transparent sustainability reporting. Meanwhile, internal business politics is demonstrated through management commitment and coordination among business units in implementing the company's three sustainability strategy pillars. The synergy between these two dimensions supports the consistent implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, resulting in various sustainability initiatives that have received recognition through the ESG Award 2023 and ESG Recognized Commitment 2024. This study concludes that Business Politics Theory is relevant in explaining the successful implementation of corporate sustainability through the management of relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and the strengthening of internal corporate governance.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of students' perceptions of narcissistic behavior in academic groups (X) on their ethical decision-making (Y). A quantitative survey design was employed. Data were collected from 35 active students of the Management Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung using convenience sampling through an online questionnaire consisting of 20 Likert-scale items. The instrument testing indicated that all items were valid (item-total correlation ranging from 0.355 to 0.843) and reliable (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.943 for variable X and 0.824 for variable Y). Descriptive statistics showed relatively high mean scores for both perceptions of narcissistic behavior (mean = 4.01) and ethical decision-making (mean = 4.11). Simple linear regression analysis produced the equation Y = 3.415 + 0.173X, with R² = 0.080 and p = 0.101, indicating that perceptions of narcissistic behavior did not have a statistically significant effect on ethical decision-making. Interestingly, the observed relationship was positive, contrary to the initial hypothesis. These findings suggest that the research instrument is more likely to capture respondents' evaluations of the negative impact of narcissistic behavior within groups rather than the actual extent to which they experience narcissistic behavior in their group interactions.

Abstract

Organizational communication ethics play an important role in creating a comfortable and supportive organizational environment for its members. Communication based on mutual respect, openness, honesty, and responsibility is believed to enhance members' comfort and engagement within the organization. This study aims to analyze the effect of organizational communication ethics on members' comfort in the Student Organization of the Management Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The study involved 35 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive analysis and simple linear regression. The results indicate that organizational communication ethics have a positive and significant effect on members' comfort. Descriptive analysis also reveals that both organizational communication ethics and members' comfort are categorized as high. These findings suggest that better implementation of ethical communication within the organization contributes to higher levels of members' comfort. Therefore, student organizations are encouraged to strengthen ethical, open, and respectful communication practices to create a more conducive organizational environment and improve members' active participation.

Abstract

Student organizations provide a strategic space for leadership development, yet an unhealthy organizational culture can become a source of psychological pressure for its members. This study examines the influence of organizational culture, social support, and coping strategies on the mental health of active members of student associations (himpunan mahasiswa) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung, using a quantitative regression approach. An explanatory survey design guided the study, with active members recruited through proportionate stratified random sampling and a minimum sample size determined by the Slovin formula. Data were collected using a twenty-item Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through multiple linear regression following validity, reliability, and classical assumption testing. Owing to a response rate below the calculated minimum sample, the findings are presented descriptively and interpreted as preliminary evidence rather than a fully validated regression model. The results indicate that a supportive organizational culture, marked by strong communal values and low hierarchical pressure, is descriptively associated with better emotional regulation and self-care among members, while ambiguity in task division corresponds with a lower tendency to seek collective problem-solving. These findings contribute empirical insight toward building healthier and more supportive organizational climates in higher education and provide a foundation for future confirmatory research with a larger sample.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Organizational culture is often assumed to be fixed and resistant to change (the "myth" view), whereas the "science" perspective argues it can be deliberately shaped. This study examines this debate through a qualitative case study of the Management Student Association (HMM) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung, analyzing whether its culture evolved across leadership periods. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and direct observation. Culture was examined through seven dimensions adapted from Robbins and Judge, while organizational change was analyzed using Kurt Lewin’s three-stage model (unfreezing, movement, refreezing). The findings indicate that HMM UMB's culture is dynamic rather than static: fundamental, constitutional-level values and rules are maintained consistently, while technical work systems, communication patterns, and operational structures adapt to each leadership style and organizational needs. All three stages of Lewin’s model were identifiable in the 2025–2026 transition, indicating that cultural change occurred through a deliberate process rather than by chance. These findings support the science perspective over the myth of an unchanging culture, offering practical implications for how student organizations can preserve their core identity while remaining adaptive to generational change.

Abstract

This study examines how a university student who actively participates in campus organizations perceives and ethically evaluates the use of emotional intelligence (EI) by organizational leaders. Drawing on the ethical dilemma proposed by Robbins, “Should Managers Use Emotional Intelligence?”, this research adopts a qualitative single-case study approach involving an informant whose Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality type was already known prior to the interview. Data were collected through an in-depth, semi-structured interview with a student actively involved in several campus organizations and committees. The findings reveal that the informant distinguishes ethical from manipulative use of EI primarily through the consistency of a leader’s caring behavior, rather than the leader’s stated intentions. The informant also described an ambiguous experience in which a generally empathetic leader made a unilateral, pressuring decision under time constraints, indicating that EI-driven leadership is not free from ethical tension. The informant’s ENFJ personality type appeared to shape an initial tendency toward trust, later balanced by a more action-based evaluation of leaders’ sincerity. This study contributes a grounded, personality-aware perspective to the ongoing ethical debate on EI in leadership.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of emotions and mood on the learning motivation of 2023 cohort students in the Management Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung. A quantitative approach with a causal-associative research design was employed. The sample consisted of 82 respondents selected through simple random sampling from a population of 200 students. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through multiple linear regression using IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings reveal that emotions have a positive and significant effect on learning motivation (t = 2.502; p = 0.014), while mood also has a positive and significant effect (t = 2.956; p = 0.004). Simultaneously, emotions and mood significantly influence learning motivation (F = 13.073; p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.249 indicates that both variables explain 24.9% of the variance in students' learning motivation. These findings support the Affective Events Theory, which suggests that affective conditions play an important role in shaping individual behavior and motivation. Therefore, higher education institutions should foster a supportive learning environment that promotes positive emotional conditions to enhance students' learning motivation.
