Abstract

The increasing number of cancer patients in Indonesia encourages the need for adequate supporting facilities, especially for patients outside the region who undergo treatment in Bandung and need a temporary place during the healing process. Yayasan Rumah Cinta Insani in Bandung is one of the halfway houses that accommodates cancer patients, especially children to adolescents and their families. However, the inadequate layout, facilities, comfort, and accessibility make this environment unable to fully support the healing process. Applying the Healing Architecture concept to the interior of the halfway house is a key solution to create an environment that is healthier, safer, and supports the physical and mental well-being of patients. Key design elements include natural lighting, ventilation, color, comfort, and accessibility. This research uses a qualitative method with a Design Thinking approach, including five stages: empathize through observation and interviews with patients, caregivers, and managers; define the main problem to find a solution; ideate presents ideas; prototype as the result; and test to evaluate the proposed design. The goal is to produce a more humane, flexible, and efficient halfway house. The expected result is an environment that supports holistic healing, improves comfort for patients and families, and adapts to resident needs

Abstract

Museum Pos Indonesia, which was established in 1931, records the history of the development of postal services in Indonesia. However, a lack of innovation in the delivery of information has led to a decline in interest from visitors, especially the younger generation. This report discusses the museum's revitalization efforts with a focus on spatial ambience to create an interactive and educational experience. Elements such as lighting, materials, colors, and layout are arranged to build an atmosphere that supports historical understanding. This research uses a design thinking approach, through the stages of observation, interviews, problem formulation, idea development, prototyping, and testing. As a result, the museum space is divided into four thematic zones that illustrate the history of postal communication from the royal period to the digital future. Each zone is equipped with interactive media such as touch screens, video mapping, and digital simulations. This revitalization aims to make the museum more dynamic and participatory, so as to attract visitors, especially the younger generation who are accustomed to technology and visual experiences

Abstract

This study discusses the design of multifunctional furniture at the “Work Unusual” coffee shop, which features collaborative spaces with a high intensity of collaboration and requires spatial flexibility. The main problem arises from users’ needs for adaptive, ergonomic, and sustainable furniture, while the existing facilities have not fully supported the variety of community activities. This study aims to identify user needs, evaluate existing conditions, and formulate alternative furniture designs that are more functional and responsive to collaborative activities. The research employs an exploratory mixed-methods approach, in which the qualitative stage serves as the foundation for an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation to explore user experiences related to functionality, flexibility, and sustainability aspects of the furniture used at “Work Unusual.” The collected data were then used to develop quantitative instruments, which were analyzed using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to determine the most optimal design alternative. The design process follows the stages of design thinking as a systematic approach to solving design problems. The results indicate that users require furniture that is multifunctional, flexible, and compatible with various activities such as workshops, bazaars, and dine-in activities. The SAW analysis shows that functionality, flexibility, sustainability, and aesthetics are the main determining factors in user preferences. In addition, the study finds that sustainable materials and modular designs have the greatest potential to improve spatial efficiency. Therefore, multifunctional furniture designed with functional, flexible, and sustainability principles can contribute to optimizing collaborative spaces at “Work Unusual.” This study provides comprehensive design recommendations and can serve as a reference for the development of adaptive furniture in other collaborative spaces.

Abstract

Abstract: Cipagalo Village is located in Bojongsoang District, Bandung Regency, West Java. This village has strategic regional characteristics because it is close to the center of Bandung, making it potential for development as a tourist village based on local wisdom and creative economy. There are public spaces located in Cipagalo Village that have an important role in building social interaction and strengthening the character of the community. It is necessary to analyze the influence of the optimization of public space in the Culinary Center on the formation of the social character of the people of Cipagalo Village. The market has an important role in the local economy as a center for transactions and social interaction of the community. However, in Cipagalo Village, the traditional market still faces various challenges, such as suboptimal accessibility, limited facilities, and low quality of the products offered. This community service program aims to design a modern market design that not only improves accessibility for the community, but also supports the improvement of the quality of local products. The approach used involves participatory studies with local communities to understand their needs, habits, and expectations of the ideal market. The proposed design concept prioritizes a friendly layout for all community groups, the provision of adequate sanitation facilities, and the integration of technology to improve transparency and efficiency of product distribution. In addition, the program also emphasizes the importance of social interaction in market management through training for traders and the public regarding healthy and sustainable trading practices. The results of this community service activity are expected to be able to create a more inclusive modern market, increase the competitiveness of local products, and strengthen the economy of the people of Cipagalo Village. With the existence of a modern market based on social interaction, it is hoped that a more dynamic and sustainable economic ecosystem will be formed for all stakeholders. The Culinary Center as a culinary center is also a forum for the community to participate in community-based economic activities, which strengthen social values and social attachment. A well-managed public rang is able to positively shape the social character of the community, improve the quality of life, and strengthen the local identity of Cipagalo Village. Therefore, the active role of the government and the community is needed in maintaining and developing public space as a means of sustainable social development. This research shows that the optimization of the Culinary Center, both in terms of facilities, governance, and social activities held, has a positive impact on social cohesion, a sense of togetherness, and the values of community mutual cooperation. People who actively use public spaces show an increase in communication between citizens, participation in social activities.
