Abstract

One of the equipment in the Turi Health Center laboratory is a Centrifuge. The problem at the Turi Health Center with the centrifuge is that this centrifuge has a large usage load of 8-10 hours per day, without having electromedical personnel. In this Centrifuge, it is often found that the cleanliness of the tools is not good, the placement of the tools is inadequate, the electrical installation network is not standard (Grounding) and the maintenance and maintenance is lacking, there is no regular calibration so there is no certainty of the accuracy of the results obtained. As a result of the impact obtained is a tool that is not suitable for use, the tool is quickly damaged which can harm the diagnosis of patients. Community Service Activities with the implementation team from Poltekkes Kemenkes Surabaya working together as partners in this activity aims to carry out repairs according to Centrifuge standards and provide knowledge and skills about simple maintenance and repairs on Centrifuges Correctly. The first stage in providing solutions to problems faced by the Turi Health Center is to conduct a study through Focus Group Discuss (FGD). The second stage is compiling a user manual. The third stage is the implementation of mentoring and counseling on centrifuge repair using a maintenance and repair manual. And the fourth stage is the implementation of centrifuge repair by providing opportunities for laboratory personnel, Medical and non-medical personnel to be able to independently carry out simple repairs and to know important indicators in the event of damage. The output target of the community service carried out is a simple repair guide book for centrifuge equipment so that later laboratory equipment at the Turi Health Center, especially the Centrifuge, can work according to the Centrifuge Motor Speed Standard.

Abstract

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways that causes recurrent episodes of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and coughing. The partners in this study face the problem that tofu factories in their area use plastic waste as fuel, which can aggravate respiratory conditions. In addition, the partners need more knowledge about the clear signs of asthma attacks, asthma symptom control and risk factors for asthma patients. The solution provided through the Community Service Programme with the PKM (Student Creativity Programme) scheme is to measure lung volumes using an IoT-based telemedicine device, specifically a spirometry tool that can be used with an Android mobile phone. In addition, partners will receive support to improve their knowledge, skills and attitudes in the management of asthma exacerbations. The implementation method includes providing health education on asthma, clear signs of asthma attacks, asthma symptom control and risk factors for asthma patients, as well as self-management skills for asthma patients and efforts to monitor asthma signs and symptoms. Lung capacity is measured using a spirometry device connected to an Android mobile phone for direct measurement by health workers. The results of the community service show an increase in respondents' knowledge about asthma after a lecture intervention. This was tested using the Wilcoxon signed rank test, which showed a statistically significant increase in scores from pre-test to post-test. All changes were positive, indicating the effectiveness of the learning methods used. Spirometry measurements showed that the respondents' lungs were functioning well without significant airway obstruction, indicating that the intervention was successful in increasing knowledge about asthma and asthma control

Abstract

The Community Service Program, in conjunction with the PKM scheme, is implemented through synergistic collaboration between the Surabaya Ministry of Health Polytechnic and the Surabaya City Health Service, focusing on community independence through counseling and assistance, particularly in the use of tools. Implementation of the Use of Spirometers and Oximeters Telemedicine Smart Phone System in Lung Health Examinations -Lungs of fish smoking workers in the Kenjeran Community Health Center work area. In connection with the increase in patients with cases of respiratory problems in the Kenjeran Community Health Center area, Surabaya City, as well as cases of respiratory problems in post-COVID-19 patients, which has resulted in a lack of treatment for these patients due to limited health personnel and no monitoring equipment. insufficient, so that the health service system for patients is disrupted. The use of a spirometer with a telemedicine smartphone system is expected to help people in Indonesia, especially in the Surabaya city area, to conduct early examinations independently and provide this information to medical personnel if any readings fall outside the specified parameters. This activity is an application of research following the road map (Road map Research), which has been carried out starting in 2019 to design an Apnea monitor to detect respiration rate in babies and adults using Piezoelectric sensors. Until 2024, it has been developed with a spirometer and oximeter with a telemedicine smart phone system and has been published in the journal IJEEMI, 2024, with the title Design and Development of an IoT-based Pulmonary Function and Oxygen Saturation Measurement Device (Pulmonary Function Analysis). In this activity, 21 fish smoking workers in the Kenjeran Community Health Center work area were examined using a spirometer and an oximeter smartphone telemedicine system carried out by the Team. Resulted in lung function measurements with FEV1/FVC ratio values, 86% normal and 14% restrictive

Abstract

Stunting is a long-term health problem that mainly impacts the growth and development of young children, particularly in residential areas like Kelurahan Krembangan Selatan, Surabaya. A significant obstacle in preventing stunting is finding a practical way to assess children's nutritional status. This community study aims to raise awareness and educate people about the use of Android-based tools for monitoring body mass index (BMI) and basal metabolic rate (BMR) as innovative methods for detecting stunting risk. The device, tested on 16 infants, enables users to submit detailed data to a web platform for further analysis. Findings reveal that this tool simplifies processes, accelerates data handling, and provides quicker access to up-to-date information, thereby reducing the burden of manual tasks. Results also show that most infants have healthy growth, although some individuals may need more time to understand the benefits. In general, this web-based solution greatly improves the precision and speed of stunting detection and could be widely adopted in areas with limited healthcare infrastructure. However, the study is limited by its small sample size and limited assessment of result length. Future research should focus on a broader population and integrating this tool into larger healthcare systems. This innovation facilitates timely and accurate monitoring of young children's health. The hope is that it will become part of regular posyandu services to help strengthen the stunting prevention program across the Puskesmas Krembangan Selatan area.
