Abstract

Children's stories, especially Balinese stories, are one of the effective media to provide environmental education to children and introduce their mother tongue or regional language as early as possible as a form of language preservation. In addition, the introduction of stories to children from an early age will have an impact on children's love of literacy. This research analyses the environmental lexicon from an ecolinguistics perspective found in Balinese children's stories. This research aims to identify biological, sociological, and ideological aspects of Balinese children's stories. This is qualitative research, the data was taken from a Balinese children’s story entitled Pasawitran I Jangkrik Teken I Petani. The result shows that children can learn some environmental and farming-based lexicons in this story, which is very good and necessary for language preservation. Ideologically, children are invited to understand the importance of environmental protection and ecological balance. By applying these sociological aspects in the story Pasawitran I Jangkrik Teken I Petani children can learn about social dynamics, tradition, and social systems

Abstract

ABSTRACTSong is expression of the composer poured into the word or lyric and accompanied by musicarrangement. The combination between lyric and music are important to get good responses fromthe listener. The aims of this study are to identify and to analysesthe figurative language andsignificance concept in foursong lyrics of Rihanna and Katy Perry.The songs are Roar (2013),E.T. (2010) by Katy Perry and Diamond (2012), Only Girl (In The World) (2011) byRihanna.This is a qualitative research by the use of documentation method, such as record andtaking a note in each song lyrics. Knickerbocker and Reningger theory (1963) is used to identifythe data in this study. This study shows that six types of figurative language were found, namelyhyperbole, simile and metaphor in Rihanna song lyrics and hyperbole, simile, paradoks,metaphor, personification and irony in Katy Perry song. The use of figurative language asstandard significance has an important rule to express feeling of the composer and singer evenlistener.Keywords: figurative language, significance, song lyricsABSTRAKLagu adalah ekspresi komposer yang dituangkan ke dalam kata atau lirik dan disertaipengaturan musik. Kombinasi antara lirik dan musik penting untuk mendapat tanggapan baikdari pendengar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisiskonsep figuratif dan konsep signifikansi dalam lirik foursong dari lagu Rihanna dan Katy Perry.Lagu Roar (2013), E.T. (2010) oleh Katy Perry dan Diamond (2012), Only Girl (In The World)(2011) oleh Rihanna. Ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode dokumentasi,seperti merekam dan mencatat dalam setiap lirik lagu. Teori Knickerbocker dan Reningger(1963) digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi data dalam penelitian ini. Studi ini menunjukkanbahwa enam jenis bahasa kiasan ditemukan, yaitu hiperbola, simile dan metafora dalam liriklagu Rihanna dan hiperbola, simile, paradoks, metafora, personifikasi dan ironi dalam laguKaty Perry. Penggunaan bahasa kiasan sebagai standar penting memiliki aturan penting untukmengungkapkan perasaan komposer dan penyanyi bahkan pendengar.Kata kunci: bahasa kiasan, signifikansi, lirik lagu

Abstract

Slang is an informal language as the outcome of the relationship between language and society. This study aims to analyze the types and the function of slang words in sociolinguistics view found in the 8 Mile movie. The theory used in this study is Wardhaugh (1986) and Alan & Burridge (2006). Classifying the slang words into five type and identifying the function into three function of slang words. The method used to conduct and collect data was descriptive qualitative method research, using observation and documentation methods. The analysis results from the study are consist of; the first of which is the types of slang words found consisting of fresh and creative slang words, clipping slang words, acronym slang words, flippant slang words, and imitative slang words. The second is function of slang words founded is consist of slang to initiate a conversation, slang to address person, slang to humiliate person. It can be concluded that the most type of slang found is clipping and function used to humiliate a person.

Abstract

The study aims to identify the types of word formation processes of registers used in football banter community. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research which are reading and documentation method. The data was taken from Facebook on the page of football banter community in the period of 2016 to 2022. The data was collected by register theory of Wardhaugh (2006) and analyzed by using the theory of Yule (2010) about word formation processes. The results of this study showed that there were 20 registers found in football banter community page. Based on the analysis, the 20 registers were categorized into 8 types of word formation processes with the result as follows: 4 data of borrowing; 3 data of coinage; 3 data of derivation; 1 data blending; 3 data of compounding; 3 data of acronym; 2 data of conversion; 1 data of multiple. The results showed that the most dominant type of word formation processes is borrowing process. Therefore, the forming of a new word especially register is always gone through a process of word formation processes.

Abstract

Kemampuan berbahasa Inggris merupakan salah satu keterampilan yang sangat penting di eradigitalisasi saat ini, karena modal sosial dan dukungan karir yang luas, pemahaman akan pentingnyapenguasaan bahasa harus diajarkan sejak dini, diperlukan bimbingan dan kepemimpinan. dari pihakguru dan orang tua, saat ini TK Anugrah Denpasar masih menggunakan metode pengajaran tradisionalyaitu bahan tulis dan gambar di papan tulis, serta bahan ajar yang tentunya masih belum lengkap,belum efektif dan efisien, belum dipahami oleh siswa dan kurangnya minat terhadap materipembelajaran, maka diperlukan cara baru dalam belajar bahasa Inggris untuk mengatasi permasalahantersebut, yaitu penggunaan teknologi media interaktif yang diharapkan dapat mendukung optimalisasipembelajaran yang menyenangkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris. Keterampilanyang diajarkan itu penting.

Abstract

This project aimed to introduce English vocabulary to young EFL learners at theelementary school level by using flashcards as a visual and interactive tool in order toincrease the effectiveness and engagement of vocabulary learning among young learners.It was carried out at BPI Fajar Kasih Siulan, with four boys and six girls in grades 1 to 3of elementary school participating. The project consisted of three phases, namelyobservation, teaching phase using flashcards, and evaluation. The use of flashcards isexpected to improve vocabulary acquisition among young learners by increasing theirunderstanding, memory, and motivation to learn English. The evaluation stage showedpositive results in the form of improved ability to recognize and recall vocabulary, and lessreliance on dictionaries—indicated by 97% recall at the end of the project for allvocabularies introduced, compared to only 45% initially. This project has potentialimplications for parents, schools, teachers, education authorities and young learners. Itmay pave the way for future development by exploring the use of technology andgamification to further enhance English language learning.
