The Relationship between Spirituality and Stress: A Study of Medical Students at Islamic Universities in Jakarta Syahidah Rena

Abstract

Purpose – The study aims to analyze the relationship between spirituality and academic stress among medical students. Design/method/approach – This study is field research with 225 subjects from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah (n = 115) and YARSI University (n = 110). The data collection instrument used two psychological scales, namely the spirituality scale and the stress scale. The data were analyzed using regression analysis techniques. Findings – The results showed that most students tended to experience moderate stress (n = 134), however, the number of students who experienced severe stress was greater than those with mild stress (n = 53 ‘severe stress’ > n = 38 ‘mild stress'). These results indicate that students should have a self-defense mechanism, namely spirituality. Moreover, the study found that spirituality had a significant negative relation with stress in medical students (r = -0.123, p = 0.00 and R2 = 0.263). It means that the higher the student’s spirituality, the lower the level of academic stress. The significance of the relationship between spirituality and academic stress has confirmed that spirituality in medical students serves as a form of self-protection mechanism to deal with factors that can trigger academic stress. However, the contribution of spirituality to stress was only 26.3%, while the rest (73.7%) were influenced by other variables outside this study. Low r and R2 scores also indicated that in dealing with academic stress, students rely not only on internal defense resources but also on external social and environmental supports. Research implications/limitations – This research has implications for promoting prevention programs designed by universities to improve the student’s ability to overcome obstacles during their medical learning process, such as involving the dimension of spirituality in managing the mental well-being of medical students in dealing with academic pressure. Originality/value – This research has significance in providing additional understanding of the positive impact of spirituality on the context of learning. The findings of this study have emphasized the importance of educational institutions paying attention to student self-protection mechanisms to prevent personal difficulties. The results showed that spirituality has a significant role in relieving stress in medical students.

Abstract

Pendidikan Karakter pada peserta didik merupakan langkah yang dilakukan oleh pendidik untuk menyiapkan pribadi unggul dan berkualitas di masa sekarang dan masa mendatang. Namun sejak adanya Covid-19 memberikan pengalaman baru bagi masyarakat Indonesia termasuk pada sistem pendidikan yaitu mengalami perubahan dalam pelaksanaannya melalui daring. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pelaksanaan pembelajaran PAI siswa kelas V secara daring oleh guru SDIT Al-Ihsan Kebagusan dan untuk menganalisa Kerjasama antara orang tua dan peserta didik dalam mengembangkan karakter jujur dan tanggung jawab siswa tersebut. Metode penelitian ini kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian descriptive research yaitu berfokus mendeskripsikan efektifitas pembelajaran PAI secara daring dalam mengembangkan karakter jujur dan tanggung jawab siswa. Sumber data primer yaitu dokumentasi, wawancara guru PAI, orang tua dan siswa kelas V yang dipilih secara purposive. Sedangkan sumber sekunder yaitu kurikulum SDIT Al-Ihsan, jurnal, artikel, brosur, dan buku. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa: 1) pelaksanaan pembelajaran PAI siswa kelas V secara daring oleh guru di SDIT Al-Ihsan Kebagusan antara lain: a) pengelolaan pelaksanaan pembelajaran PAI menggunakan metode ceramah, resitasi, dan VBL (video basedd learning) dan media zoom meeting, google meet, youtube, dan whatsapp, b) proses komunikasinya berjalan secara sinkron antara guru, orang tua dan siswa, c) respon peserta didik selama pembelajaran daring adalah cukup baik, aktif dan percaya diri kecuali saat gangguan internet, d) penilaian hasil belajar yang diberikan berupa pernyataan kualitatif; 2) kerjasama antara orang tua dan peserta didik dalam mengembangkan karakter jujur dan tanggung jawab siswa kelas V SDIT Al-Ihsan Kebagusan antara lain: a) pengasuhan yang diberikan oleh orang tua bersifat otoritatif, b) membangun komunikasi melalui sosialisasi kepada anak tentang pentingnya kesehatan, pendidikan serta harapan orang tua kepada anak, c) sebagai sukarelawan orang tua menjadi contoh yang baik, mendampingi anak belajar, memberi apresiasi, serta memfasilitasi kebutuhan media dan suasana belajar anak yang nyaman, tenang dan mendukung.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk berupaya menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter religius guna melindungi siswa dari terjerumus dalam perilaku asusila dengan melaksanakan kegiatan keagamaan yang rutin dilaksanakan di salah satu SMP tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa SMP YMIK memiliki program keagamaan mulai dari kegiatan harian, mingguan dan bulanan. Kegiatan tersebut meliputi kegiatan shalat berjamaah, tadarus, tahsin, kegiatan putri, serta kegiatan untuk merayakan hari besar Islam, serta pondok pesantren Ramadhan. Program keagamaan memberikan efektivitas terhadap karakter keagamaan siswa, terbukti dari hasil observasi dan penilaian bahwa siswa di SMP YMIK memiliki karakter keagamaan yang baik. Faktor pendukung penerapan nilai karakter meliputi pendidik dan tenaga kependidikan yang berkualitas, kesadaran siswa yang tinggi, dan dukungan dari orang tua siswa. Sedangkan faktor penghambat dalam penerapannya meliputi lingkungan di rumah yang kurang mendukung, pengaruh buruk media sosial, dan rendahnya kemampuan membaca Al Quran.

Abstract

Education is a right that must be given to every child. At this time, researchers realize that early childhood is experiencing an extraordinary process of growth and development. So, it is important for parents to direct their children's education appropriately, especially religious education. Through fun learning, it will be easier for children to carry out learning activities, so they don't feel monotonous and bored. So this research aims to implement Islamic Religious Education learning through a Fun Learning approach and its relationship to increasing students' emotional intelligence. This type of research uses qualitative descriptive research which focuses on describing how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning through Fun Learning can increase children's emotional intelligence. Primary data sources are documentation, interviews with the Academic Team, teachers and parents. Secondary data sources are modules, journals, articles and books. The results of the research concluded that, 1) Implementation of the Fun Learning approach in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning is as follows: a) making PAI learning plans for early childhood; b) through three stages of learning implementation using a Fun Learning approach and edutainment methods; c) conducting evaluations through book reports with five learning points, and 2) increasing students' emotional intelligence by: a) increasing the duration of children's learning focus, b) forming interest, c) student involvement in learning and d) growing awareness in learning.

Abstract

Literacy and character are essential issues in the national education evaluation system. Literacy is related to the ability to analyze qualitatively. Meanwhile, the character is a bond that helps students become good individuals. Therefore, this research aims to explore the effectiveness of parental involvement in the reading literacy program in developing students' religious character at SD (Elementary School) Emirates Islamic School in Jakarta. The researchers used a qualitative method with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The researchers' data analysis underwent three stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The research results indicate parental involvement in the reading literacy program's effectiveness in developing students' religious character, such as modelling, mentoring, and organizing. The description of students' religious character in their daily lives is the belief in carrying out the pillars of Islam, their obligations in worship, students involving Allah SWT in their daily lives, and students sharing. It means that the formation of students' character will be achieved if parents can carry out their duties and roles well, especially in strengthening reading literacy at home.

Abstract

In the digital era, education has a tough challenge in internalizing religious values to children. This study aims to comprehensively analyze Fitrah-based Islamic education in cultivating children's religious values at BATAS (Belajar Al Qur'an sampai Tuntas / Learning the Qur'an Until Complete) institution. Researchers used qualitative research with the type of case study—data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results showed that the BATAS institution has conducted various activities involving students, teachers, and guardians. Not only that, the aspects developed include the nature of faith, the nature of talent and leadership, the nature of learning and reasoning, the nature of individuality and sociality, physical nature, aesthetics, the nature of sexuality and love, the nature of sexuality and love, and the nature of development. The BATAS Institute also conducts activities that support the values of Fitrah education to children, including the nature of faith, the nature of learning and reasoning, the nature of talent and leadership, the nature of individuality and sociality, the nature of sexuality and love, the nature of aesthetics and language, physical nature, and the nature of development.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the Reading and Writing the Qur'an / Baca dan Tulis Al Qur’an (BTQ) learning model at SD Islam Al Amanah Setu Tangerang Selatan, reveal the implications of the contextualization of BTQ learning, and reveal future developments. The researchers used a qualitative approach with the type of field research. The data and sources in this research were primary and secondary data, while the researchers used data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results indicate that the contextualization of BTQ learning at SD Islam Al Amanah has three aspects, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. The implications of the contextualization of BTQ learning in this school are that teachers can remember and deepen the knowledge of the Qur'an, reduce students' difficulties in learning the Qur'an, students are more disciplined and hardworking, patient, independent, honest, have a better attitude, students' grades are according to target, achieve in the field of the Qur'an, and this BTQ learning can be an attraction for schools. The plan for developing BTQ learning at this school is special training for BTQ teachers, increasing BTQ teaching hours, collaboration between parents/guardians and teachers, creating BTQ certificates, and eliminating SPP and BTQ as a requirement for obtaining a diploma.

Abstract

Kesehatan mental remaja adalah aspek krusial dalam pembangunan sumber daya manusia, terutama di era digital yang memengaruhi kesejahteraan emosional dan spiritual. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat kesehatan mental siswa MA Al-Islamiyah Sawangan, Depok, melalui pendekatan psikologi Islami yang menekankan dimensi spiritual, seperti dzikir dan introspeksi diri. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi, penyuluhan, dan diskusi interaktif. Materi yang diberikan terdiri dari pemahaman kesehatan mental dalam perspektif Islam, identifikasi permasalahan mental, serta strategi untuk mengatasi gangguan mental seperti FOMO dan cyberbullying. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa tentang pentingnya menjaga kesehatan mental dengan pendekatan Islami, serta kemampuan mereka dalam mengidentifikasi dan mengelola masalah kesehatan mental. Program ini memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam mendukung kesehatan mental remaja dan dapat menjadi model inspiratif bagi lembaga pendidikan lain, dengan harapan dapat terus dikembangkan untuk manfaat yang lebih luas bagi generasi muda.

Abstract

Khidmah is a series of acts of service or a loyal attitude to help someone or something with sincerity and totality carried out by chosen people in order to seek the blessings of knowledge and life that have lasted since the time of prophethood. However, the term khidmah in the modern era is often just a jargon to increase popularity or spread imagery to attract public attention and sympathy. This paper aims to describe the process and explore the wisdom of the khidmah tradition which is mentioned implicitly in various verses in the Qur'an so that it becomes clearer so that it is able to provide a complete description and correct understanding. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, with library research data collection through related and relevant literature with the title of this research. The results of this study indicate that khidmah has become a culture carried out by chosen humans as a manifestation of a student's loyalty to his teacher, one's obedience to others, one's gratitude for the blessings he has received, a form of leader service to his community, even being evidence of the creature's obedience to creatures which is not the same kind that is done with full dedication and totality. The culture of khidmah has become a tradition that is inseparable from the values ​​of goodness that help maintain the existence of Islamic values ​​during the time of the Prophet Muhammad and the times after. Khidmah, for santri (the islamic students) has become part of the process of independence and a means of seeking blessings, while for the pesantren (islamic boarding school) it has become an effective medium in the education process and character building for the santri so that their existence continues to be maintained by various methods that adapt to their times

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the implementation of multicultural education values at Kharisma Bangsa Global Education High School in South Tangerang City and know the obstacles and challenges of implementing multicultural bathing there.  This research uses a qualitative approach with this type of case study research. Data sources are obtained from primary data sources (Principals, PAI Teachers, Academic Staff, and Kharisma Bangsa Learners) and secondary data sources from several books and others that support primary data. Data collection techniques are used through observation, interviews, and documentation. Then from some of the data that has been obtained the author performs data analysis techniques.  The results of this study show that 1). The implementation of multicultural education values at Kharisma Bangsa Global Education High School in South Tangerang City is the value of democracy, humanism, and tolerance, and the learning of multicultural Agama Islam (PAI) Education. These values are implemented through a whole school approach, dan 2). Obstacles and challenges in the implementation of multicultural educational values at Kharisma Bangsa High School are the adaptation of early learners into school, digital multicultural literacy, and awareness of understanding of multicultural education.
