Abstract

Background: Periodontitis begins with accumulation of pathogenic plaque containing bacteria and toxins. Subgingival bacteria found in chronic periodontitis are one of them is Porphorymonas gingivalis. Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria causes progressive damage to the supporting tissues of the teeth, especially the alveolar bone. Alternative medicine that can be used is with herbal ingredients, namely Sardinella longiceps. Sardinella longiceps contains omega 3 (DHA and EPA) which inhibits proinflammatory cytokines thereby accelerating the process of bone regeneration. Objective: This study aims to determine whether the administration of gel (Sardinella longiceps) affects the height of the cortical bone of the mandibular periodontitis-induced rat Porphyromonas gingivalis.Research Methods: 25 male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups. P0 is the normal group that is not treated. P + is a group induced by Porphyromonas gingivalis. P1, P2, P3 are the groups induced by Porphyromonas gingivalis and given Sardinella longiceps gel with concentrations of 10%, 20%, 40% respectively. On the 55th day all model mice were treated and mandibular cortical bone height was measured using a digital caliper in the interdental region of the 1st molar and left lingual molars from the apex of the alveolar bone to the mandibular base. The data obtained were analyzed by one way ANOVA followed by LSD (p = 0.05). Results: Statistical tests showed the mean height of mandibular cortical bone was P0 (5.21 ± 0.21), P + (4.67 ± 0.25), P1 (5.12 ± 0.14), P2 (5.51 ± 0.12), and P3 (5.88 ± 0.13). There was a significant difference (p <0.05) between treatment groups and positive control groups (p <0.05). Conclusion: Sardinella longiceps affects the height of the cortical bone of the periodontitis rats model induced by Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria. The most effective in the group of sardinella longiceps gel with a concentration of 40%.

Abstract

Background: Dental implant is a device that is surgically implanted into the soft tissue or into the jaw bone. dental implants have become the treatment of choice for replacing missing teeth. Platelet rich plasma and platelet concentration derived from autologous blood containing autologous growth factors in which the platelet rich plasma can improve wound healing and increase the regeneration of bone. today cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has been available for 3D visualization of craniofacial section. CBCT 3 D is able to provide information on the general bone mineral density. Purpose: The purpose of this studywas to determine thebone mineral density by three-dimensional radiographic picture after dental implant placementbyan additional plateletrich plasma. Material and Method: This study was divided into 2 groups. The first placement of a dental implant with platelet rich plasma and the second placement of a dental implant without platelet rich plasma. Results: there are significant differences in dental implant placement with platelet rich plasma and placement of dental implants without platelet rich plasma. In the test results obtained Independent T test (p = 0.02). Conclusion: There was an increase bone mineral density in dental implant placement with platelet rich plasma were performed using three-dimensional radiographic examination (CBCT).

Abstract

Introduction. Training of Trainer (ToT) program for teachers and parents for a 21-day morning and evening toothbrush activity teaches children and adults about the benefits of good oral hygiene and shows them how to brush their teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to realizing caries-free Indonesia in 2030 Method. This activity used a digital / online system via the zoom application. Participants' knowledge of dental health was measured through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Results. The results of the statistical analysis used a paired sample t-test to compare the mean pre-test and post-test scores of the ToT participants showed a significance value (p=0.000). Discussion. There was a significant difference in the level of knowledge of maintaining dental and oral health in teachers and parents of students at Vita School before being given DHE material and after being given DHE through the "Training of Trainer" Conclusion. ToT activities were useful for increasing participants' knowledge about dental health

Abstract

Background: Epulis is an epithelial tumor that is non-osteogenic. Epulis can be found in the oral cavity both on the gingiva and in the alveolar mucosa. Epulis is a benign enlargement of soft tissue. Granulomatous epulis is one type of epulis that is often found. This granulomatous epulis is a granulative tissue reaction with the characteristics of bleeding easily and having a reddish color. This epulis can disturb the patient both psychologically because there is a large mass in the oral cavity, causing it to be unaesthetic if it occurs in the anterior teeth area, disrupting the chewing process and even disrupting the speech process if it is in the posterior teeth.  Apart from causing discomfort to the patient, there are several types of epulis that can cause pain. Objective: To find out how to make a diagnosis of granulomatous epulis accompanied by treatment using a laser. Case: A 45 year old female patient came with complaints of enlarged gums since 1 year ago.  The patient initially used dentures, but currently the dentures cannot be used and the patient feels uncomfortable because he cannot chew food due to a large lump in the oral cavity. Case Treatment: At the first visit, an etiotropic phase is carried out in the form of elimination of local factors, then the patient is referred for supporting examinations in the form of panoramic radiography and FNA-B examination.  This examination functions to determine whether there is malignancy or not.  After the results showed no malignancy, we continued with the surgical phase in the form of excision of granulomatous epulis using a laser. Conclusion: Granulomatous epulis therapy using laser accompanied by removal of remaining tooth roots shows satisfactory therapeutic results. Keyword: Epulis, Epulis Granulomatosa, Excision, Laser

Abstract

Dental and oral problems in Indonesian children are caused by low knowledge, comprehension, and behavior that ignores dental and oral health maintenance, resulting in tooth and mouth damage. This activity is in partnership with SD Yapita which is a school supported by the Faculty of Dentistry, Hang Tuah University. The aim is to prepare parents and teachers of Yapita Elementary School students to become ambassadors for oral and dental hygiene so that they can become mentors for their children or students. This method is carried out online and offline from classes 1 to 6 using a simple random sampling technique. The results were statistically analyzed using the Paired T-test. The average pre-test score from the teacher was 60 and the parents were 56, while the post-test result from the teacher was 84 and the parents was 85. The results of the data analysis were normally distributed (p>0.05) followed by the Paired correlation test T-test. The results show a relationship between the pre and post-test of teachers and parents. This shows that this educational activity can increase the knowledge of teachers and parents so that they can become ambassadors of oral and dental hygiene to their children or students.
