Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of attachment and alexithymia on nomophobia in early adults in Karawang. Using a quantitative approach with a correlational design, data were collected from 150 early adult respondents (aged 20-40 years) through convenience sampling. Research instruments included the Nomophobia Questionnaire Scale (NMP-Q), Revised Adult Attachment Scale (RAAS), and Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 (TAS-20). Multiple regression analysis revealed that attachment (p < 0.05) and alexithymia (p < 0.05) significantly influenced nomophobia both partially and simultaneously, contributing 40% (R² = 0.40). Individually, attachment contributed 13% and alexithymia contributed 27%. This study concludes that attachment and alexithymia are significant predictors of nomophobia. he implications include developing psychological interventions to manage emotional relationships and health technology usage.

Abstract

Loneliness is an unpleasant feeling experienced by individuals characterized by anxiety, feelings of alienation, and rejection due to a lack of meaningful social relationships. Loneliness is particularly vulnerable for migrants because they have to live apart from their families. The emergence of loneliness in migrants can be influenced by social support. Social support can be obtained from various sources, one of which is from a partner, such as providing supportive actions, giving a sense of security, offering physical assistance, being willing to spend time, and boosting their partner's motivation. This study aims to determine the influence of partner social support on loneliness in early adults who migrate to Karawang Regency, where the majority of the population are migrants. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with an associative research form involving 150 early adult migrants in Karawang Regency, aged 18-40 years, and currently in a romantic relationship. The sample was taken using non-probability sampling with accidental sampling type. The analysis technique used is simple regression. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the significance value of the partner social support variable is 0.000 < 0.05, which means that there is an influence of partner social support on loneliness in early adults who migrate to Karawang Regency. The results of the determination coefficient test show that the influence provided by partner social support on loneliness is 7.9%

Abstract

Users of roleplay accounts on social media exhibit interaction patterns that encourage the construction of ideal identities alongside the free expression of alternative identities. This study aims to investigate the influence of social support on self-discrepancy. Employing a quantitative approach with a causal associative design, the research involved 339 roleplay account users. Instruments utilized included the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Zimet et al., 1988) and a Self-Discrepancy scale based on Higgins’ (1987) theory, adapted by the researcher. Results indicate a significant positive effect of social support on self-discrepancy, accounting for 21.3% of the variance. Higher perceived social support correlates with greater self-discrepancy. These findings suggest that social support does not uniformly yield positive outcomes, particularly when individuals experience pressure to conform to expectations within virtual identities. This study contributes significantly to advancing theoretical understanding of social support mechanisms in digital environments and provides an empirical basis for developing adaptive mental health interventions tailored to the complexities of social media interactions.  Keywords: Social Support, Virtual Identity, Social Media, Roleplay, Self-Discrepancy
