Abstract

The 1998 Reformism expanded democratic and decentralized spaces, yet scholarly engagement with sharia legislation often remains confined to normative or formal frameworks, leaving its intersections with electoral competition, identity politics, and shifting power configurations insufficiently examined. This study explores the development of Islamic legal politics in post-reform Indonesia, with particular attention to the dynamics of sharia legislation within a constitutional democracy. Employing a normative legal approach enriched by historical and conceptual perspectives, it analyzes secondary legal materials to assess implications for democracy, constitutionalism, and human rights. Findings reveal that post-reform sharia legislation is shaped by complex interactions among political elites’ electoral strategies, the mobilization of religious identity, and decentralized structures that facilitate symbolic regulation at the local level. While national laws on waqf, zakat, and sharia banking address substantive socio-economic needs, local morality regulations—such as dress codes or alcohol restrictions—frequently serve symbolic and populist functions. This study contributes a contextual and integrative framework for understanding Islamic legal politics, underscoring the importance of inclusive paradigms attentive to social plurality, constitutional principles, and gender justice in Indonesia’s multicultural society.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of strengthening students’ Islamic identity and character through the internalization of Al-Washliyah’s distinctive values in Islamic Religious Education learning. Sibghah Al-Washliyah, which encompasses the values of tawhid, scholarship, morality, religious moderation, and the spirit of da‘wah, is viewed as a strategic foundation for shaping student character at Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Sibghah Al-Washliyah values in the learning process of Islamic Religious Education. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with lecturers and students, observation of the learning process, and documentation of institutional policies, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that lecturers have a relatively good understanding of Sibghah Al-Washliyah values, although their implementation varies. Values such as istiqamah, akhlakul karimah, mujahadah, and religious moderation are integrated into learning materials and instructional methods. The implications of this study emphasize the need to continuously strengthen the implementation of Sibghah Al-Washliyah values through institutional policies and more systematic learning development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Reciprocal Teaching model in fiqh learning and its impact on the learning independence of ninth-grade students at MTs YAPNI Tanjung Morawa. The background of this research is the low learning independence of students due to the dominance of teacher-centered learning methods. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. The research subjects consist of fiqh teachers and ninth-grade students selected purposively. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman interactive model through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the implementation of Reciprocal Teaching has been carried out systematically through activities of summarizing, questioning, clarifying, and predicting, supported by learning tools such as lesson plans and student worksheets. This model has been proven to increase students' activeness, engagement, and social interaction, thereby promoting the development of learning independence. However, its implementation still faces challenges such as limited time, uneven student participation, and low self-confidence in some students. Thus, Reciprocal Teaching is an effective learning model for enhancing students' learning independence, but it requires strengthening in classroom management and teacher guidance to achieve more optimal results.
