Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between socioeconomic status and self-efficacy on the psychological well-being of junior high school students. The background of this study is based on the importance of psychological well-being in adolescent development, which is influenced by external factors such as family socioeconomic conditions and internal factors such as individual self-confidence. This study uses a quantitative correlational approach with a cross-sectional survey design. The sample consisted of 181 eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh City who were selected using stratified random sampling. The instruments used included a socioeconomic status questionnaire, a self-efficacy scale, and a psychological well-being scale. The results of the analysis showed that socioeconomic status and self-efficacy simultaneously had a significant effect on students' psychological well-being (F = 32.90; p < 0.05). The R² value of 0.270 indicates that 27% of the variance in psychological well-being can be explained by these two variables. This finding indicates that both environmental factors and students' self-confidence play an important role in shaping psychological well-being. The practical implication of this study is the need for support from schools and parents in improving students' psychological well-being through interventions based on strengthening self-efficacy and improving socio-economic conditions. This study contributes to the literature on educational psychology in Indonesia, particularly in the context of junior secondary education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) instructional model in improving students' critical thinking skills in the Indonesian language lessons for fourth-grade students at UPT SDN Panaikang II, Makassar City. This research uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were the fourth-grade students of UPT SDN Panaikang II, Makassar City, totaling 25 students. Data collection techniques used include observation, tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques with percentages to see the improvement in students' critical thinking skills. The results of the study show that the implementation of the problem-based learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills. In Cycle I, the evaluation results showed that 7 students, or 28%, reached the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM), while 18 students, or 72%, had not yet met the KKM, with a class average score of 55. In addition, the observation results for critical thinking skills indicators scored 38 with a percentage of 63%. In Cycle II, there was a significant improvement, where the number of students reaching the KKM increased to 17 students or 68%, while the number of students not meeting the KKM decreased to 8 students or 32%, with a class average score of 74. The observation results for critical thinking skills indicators also increased to a score of 48 with a percentage of 80%. Based on these research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model is effective in improving critical thinking skills in Indonesian language learning for fourth-grade students at UPT SDN Panaikang II, Makassar City.

Abstract

Academic writing competence is a fundamental skill in higher education, yet many Indonesian students continue to struggle with producing coherent, well-structured, and properly referenced texts. These challenges underscore the importance of effective learning management in Indonesian language instruction. This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) of research published between 2019 and 2024 to identify strategies for managing learning processes that enhance academic writing skills. Following the PRISMA 2020 protocol, 32 peer-reviewed articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science were analyzed. The review reveals four main dimensions of effective learning management: curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, technological integration, and assessment practices. Evidence shows that curricula aligned with academic genres, combined with collaborative and student-centered pedagogies, significantly improve writing outcomes. The integration of digital tools, such as learning management systems and AI-based applications, enhances feedback efficiency, while rubric-based formative assessments ensure transparency and guide student progress. Importantly, the findings emphasize that sustainable improvement in academic writing requires a holistic approach that integrates these dimensions rather than isolated interventions. This study contributes to the discourse on language education management by synthesizing evidence and providing practical recommendations. It suggests embedding academic writing across curricula, strengthening teacher professional development, expanding digital infrastructure, and adopting hybrid feedback systems. Future research should focus on longitudinal, multi-institutional studies and explore the role of emerging technologies in managing writing instruction.
