Abstract

The objective of this research is to ascertain the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) profile of prospective mathematics teachers in the microteaching course. The research methodology employed a survey research design. The target population for this investigation comprises prospective mathematics teacher students enrolled at a University in Banten, Indonesia. The sample for this study comprises students in their sixth semester of the Mathematics Education program who are currently enrolled in the microteaching course. The inclusion criteria for the sample require that these students have successfully completed coursework in foundational technology use, pedagogical principles, and both basic and advanced mathematics subjects. The research findings indicate that the majority of students exhibit a high level of Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) and Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK), with percentages of 50% and 81.25% respectively. On the other hand, the majority of students demonstrate a moderate level of Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) and Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK), with percentages of 56.25% and 31.25% respectively. Moreover, a significant portion of students show a low level of Technological Knowledge (TK) at 31.25%, Content Knowledge (CK) at 37.5%, and Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) at 37.5%. It conluded, most prospective tezchers use the Technological Conten Knowledge (TCK) and Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) domains to conduct learning.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics is a mathematical concept that combines cultural elements such as regional songs, regional dances, traditional games, traditional food, and other cultural heritage into mathematics education. The presence of ethnomathematics can bridge education and culture. Pandeglang is a district in Banten province, which has a variety of cultures, one of which is traditional food. Traditional Pandeglang food contains elements of mathematics if you look at its form. The aim of this research is to explore ethnomathematics in traditional Pandeglang food and make traditional food a source of learning mathematics. As for traditional Pandeglang food, the objects of research are white apem, opak, block cake and pasung cake. This research uses qualitative methods with an emographic approach. The techniques used in data collection were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The results obtained from this research show that there are mathematical concepts, namely flat geometric shapes and spatial shapes in traditional Pandeglang food. Thus, traditional Pandeglang food can be used as a source of learning mathematics starting from phase A to phase D, so that learning mathematics becomes more meaningful. for students, because learning resources are often encountered in everyday life.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop valid and practical HOTS (High Order Thinking Skill) questions on the topics of probability and linear equations in two variables for eighth-grade students. This study employs Research and Development (R&D) methodology, utilizing both qualiative and quantitative approaches. The development model used in this research is Tessmer’s formative research model, which includes the stages of preliminary, self-evaluation (analysis of the curriculum, students, materials, and design), and prototyping (expert review, one-to-one, and small group). The results of the development of HOTS questions on probability and linear equations in two variables for eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sobang yielded a validity score from the validators of 3.46, indicating that the HOTS questions, as assessed in the small group phase (with 6 students), achieved a score of 84.5%. which falls under the practical criteria.

Abstract

Many mathematics pre-service teachers face obstacles in understanding basic differential calculus concepts, which could affect their teaching abilities. A deep understanding of learning obstacles and developing relevant learning strategies is necessary to address this issue. This research aims to identify learning obstacles experienced by mathematics pre-service teachers in differential calculus and evaluate the effectiveness of an e-didactics design based on TPACK in overcoming those obstacles. The research method is Design-Based Research (DBR) with the Plomp development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, evaluation, and revision. The subjects involve 39 mathematics pre-service teachers from Mathla’ul Anwar University and La Tanza Mashiro University, Banten, Indonesia. Research instruments include pretest, post-test, validation, and effectiveness questionnaires with data analysis covering walkthrough, documents, triangulation, instruments, and qualitative analysis. The finding identifies three types of learning obstacles: ontogenic, epistemological, and didactical. The improvement in learning outcomes demonstrates the effectiveness of the e-didactics design: 52% in real number systems and functions, 74% in limits, 88% in derivatives, and 65% in the application of derivatives. The effectiveness survey recorded a score of 83%, indicating that the e-didactics design of differential calculus based on TPACK effectively addresses learning obstacles.

Abstract

This research aims to determine and obtain actual data on the types of epistemological learning obstacles in solving probability story problems. This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in solving probability story problems. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques, including written tests, interviews, and documentation. Based on the analysis of the written test, interviews, and documentation data, it was found that out of 20 students who took the learning obstacle test, 11 scored below 60. The percentage of students who scored below the minimum completion criteria was 55%. These obstacles include errors in understanding the problem concept, errors in selecting and using solution procedures, errors in writing answers, and errors in operational techniques. It indicates that half of the students who took the learning obstacle test on probability story problems still experience learning obstacles, particularly epistemological obstacles, in solving such issues. It is reinforced by analysis and in-depth interviews with three vocational students that these students still participate in epistemological obstacles ranging from conceptual, procedural, and technical operational obstacles.

Abstract

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability (KRM) is one of the basic abilities that must be developed in mathematics learning. One way to develop KRM is by using teaching materials that help reduce students' learning difficulties (learning obstacles). However, in general mathematics learning in schools uses ready-made textbooks without paying attention to learning obstacles (LO). This research aims to identify LO in matrix material in the form of didactical design (teaching materials) for mathematical representations. The method used is Didactical Design Research (DDR) with three stages, namely didactical situation analysis, metapedadidactic analysis, and retrospective analysis. The results of the preliminary study through the LO identification test on matrix material showed that there were obstacles experienced by students regarding KRM, namely understanding the concept of matrices, determining the similarity of matrices, calculation operations on matrices, and real problems in matrix form. Furthermore, the results of the LO identification test showed that 63.6% of students had obstacles, 22.1% of students were in the moderate category and 14.3% of students had no obstacles. To overcome student obstacles in the matrix, a learning design is needed that is developed based on LO analysis to produce a hypothetical didactic design that contains various student activities, predictions of student responses along with their anticipation. The results of the research show that the didactic design provided can anticipate students' LOs towards KRM in the matrix material, indicating that there are no more LOs experienced by students.
