Abstract

In an endeavor to assist the Banda Aceh City Government in effective waste management, a group of lecturers and students from Syiah Kuala University (USK) has introduced an innovative waste management solution in the form of a digital-based waste collection and disposal application named e-tikbroh.yak. This application is designed to pick up pre-sorted waste from users, including individuals and communities, and then distribute the segregated waste to collectors and partners who have ordered or purchased it for various productive purposes. The distribution of this application to the community is considered essential as it streamlines the waste management process by promoting waste sorting and implementing the 3 R (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) waste management concept, thereby fostering a conscious approach to waste management. Furthermore, e-tikbroh.yak creates new employment opportunities within the community, both as application couriers and by generating additional income through the collection of sorted waste. To expand its reach and accessibility, the e-tikbroh.yak application will soon be made available on the Play Store and web browsers for non-Android smartphone users in Banda Aceh City. Following its public introduction, a Users Acceptance Test (UAT) was conducted to ensure the effective and optimal functioning of the application system. This paper aims to elucidate two key aspects: 1) introducing e-tikbroh.yak to the community and partners, and 2) assessing the application's performance through the User Acceptance Test (UAT) procedure. The outcome of the UAT demonstrated that the people of Banda Aceh City found the application's operation to be smooth and user-friendly.

Abstract

Panglima Laot is a traditional institution in Aceh that regulates and coordinates fishing communities based on Islamic Sharia and plays a role in the marine and fisheries sectors. Massive shark fishing in Aceh still occurs, although bycatch, and threatens several species such as the hammerhead shark (Sphyrna lewini), cowboy shark (Carcharhinus longimanus), sawfish (Pristis microdon), whale shark (Rhyncodon typus), and monkey shark (Alopias pelagicus), whose status is protected. This study aims to determine the role of Panglima Laot in preventing protected shark fishing in Aceh and the constraints of Panglima Laot in preventing protected shark fishing in Aceh. The theory used in this research is Democratic Leadership Style. The method used is qualitative, with observation, interview, and field study. The results showed that Panglima Laot plays a role through direct socialization with fishermen and the delivery of appeals with props such as pamphlets from the Marine and Fisheries Service. However, they face obstacles such as budget limitations, difficulties in changing fishermen's habits, accidental shark catches, and the high value of shark products triggering market demand. Therefore, there is a need for gradual education about protected sharks in Panglima Laot, and it is hoped that the Panglima Laot customary institution can become a reference for marine and fisheries issues in Indonesia. Abstrak Panglima Laot adalah lembaga adat di Aceh yang mengatur dan mengkoordinasi komunitas nelayan berdasarkan Syariat Islam serta berperan dalam bidang kelautan dan perikanan. Penangkapan hiu yang masif di Aceh masih terjadi, meskipun sebagai tangkapan sampingan dan mengancam beberapa spesies seperti hiu martil (Sphyrna lewini), hiu koboi (Carcharhinus longimanus), hiu gergaji (Pristis microdon), hiu paus (Rhyncodon typus), dan hiu monyet (Alopias pelagicus) yang statusnya dilindungi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran Panglima Laot dalam mencegah penangkapan hiu yang dilindungi di Aceh dan kendala Panglima Laot dalam mencegah penangkapan hiu yang dilindungi di Aceh. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Gaya Kepemimpinan Demokratis. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan observasi, wawancara, dan studi lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Panglima Laot berperan melalui sosialisasi langsung kepada nelayan dan penyampaian himbauan dengan alat peraga seperti pamflet dari Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan. Namun, mereka menghadapi kendala seperti keterbatasan anggaran, kesulitan merubah kebiasaan nelayan, penangkapan hiu secara tidak disengaja, dan nilai produk hiu yang tinggi memicu permintaan pasar. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya edukasi secara bertahap tentang hiu yang dilindungi kepada Panglima Laot serta diharapkan lembaga adat Panglima Laot ini dapat menjadi rujukan untuk permasalahan kelautan dan perikanan di Indonesia.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berusaha untuk melihat bagaimana implementasi kebijakan “War on drugs” yang dilakukan oleh Duterte berdampak bagi masyarakat di Filipina dan bagaimana masyarakat mendukung kebijakan ini meskipun kebijakan tersebut dianggap telah melanggar Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM). Kesimpulan sementara tulisan ini bahwa budaya politik (pengalaman yang berulang akibat tingginya tingkat kriminalitas di Filipina) yang melahirkan pemahaman kolektif mengenai ketakutan akan kekerasan sehingga masyarakat memberikan dukungan terhadap kebijakan menggunakan tindakan kekerasan untuk keamanan yang dilakukan oleh Duterte. Selain itu kondisi tingkat kriminalitas yang cukup tinggi memungkinkan masyarakat memimpikan pemimpin yang memiliki image pemimpin kuat. Duterte, “The Punisher” dianggap sebagai jawaban bagi permasalahan tingkat kriminalitas yang cukup tinggi di Filipina. Tulisan ini menggunakan teori Budaya politik dan metode yang digunakan dalam tulisan ini adalah literature review.

Abstract

The regency of Aceh Besar often experiences environmental issues. Environmental awareness has become a serious matter that needs to be cultivated through character education from an early age through the learning process. Based on this, this community service initiative collaborates with 5 Kindergartens (TK) in Aceh Besar using a observational study. In this regard, the partner's problem lies in the lack of representative learning media to develop environmental awareness in children. This community service aims to educate children about the value of environmental awareness, which will affect their present and future social lives. Therefore, this community service project designs, produces, and distributes educational products through Educational Play Tools (EPT), such as flashcards and coloring books, as media for environmental awareness education.
