Abstract

Bungah District is known as the center of the Songkok industry in Gresik Regency and has significant economic potential. However, the sustainability of this business faces serious challenges, including market stagnation due to low digital literacy and the absence of halal product assurance, which is now an absolute requirement for the global market. The inability to adapt to technology makes it difficult for local products to penetrate modern marketplaces. This community service program aims to enhance the global competitiveness of Songkok MSMEs by adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in marketing strategies and accelerating business legitimacy. The approach used is Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) integrated with the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method. This activity actively involved 30 Songkok artisans through stages of socialization, technical training in creating visual content with Canva AI, and assistance with registering SiHalal accounts. Program effectiveness was measured using comparative pre-test and post-test analysis. The results showed a significant increase in partners’ average understanding, rising from an initial score of 10% to 82.5% post-intervention. In addition to improving cognitive competence, this activity successfully produced tangible outputs, including 28 AI-based professional digital catalog designs, 30 active social media business accounts, and 30 draft documents for halal certification submissions under the self-declare scheme. The program concludes that integrating efficient AI technology with compliance with Sharia regulations effectively increases partners' self-efficacy to transform from traditional markets into a competitive, sustainable export ecosystem.

Abstract

The Proliferation of radical content in the Digital world presents both challenges and opportunities for religious education. Teachers play a key role in guiding students to address this, but research on the specific pedagogical competencies needed to foster religious moderation in the classroom remains limited. This research investigated the role of teachers’ pedagogical competence in promoting awareness of Islamic moderation in madrasahs during the digital era. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis of madrasah teachers in East Java, Indonesia using a qualitative approach with an interpretative phenomenological design. The research findings reveal that teachers’ pedagogical competence is manifested through three integrated dimensions: first, curriculum integration by embedding Islamic moderation values into learning materials; second, technological pedagogical mastery through the use of digital tools to facilitate critical discussions on religious issues; and third, management of inclusive learning environments and student character assessment that fosters dialogue and values differences. These findings serve as a framework for designing a Sustainable Professional Development (SPD) program. This program should not only focus on general digital literacy but specifically on enhancing teachers' ability to curate digital moderation-based content, manage sensitive online-offline dialogues, and integrate multi-layered pedagogical evaluations. For policymakers, these findings recommend integrating the principles of Religious Moderation into the core Curriculum of teacher training to prepare educators capable of responding to the dynamics of the Digital age.

Abstract

This conceptual article aims to construct a theoretical argument for the urgency of transforming Fiqh learning through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to strengthen students’ tolerance (tasamuh). The method used narrative research (literature review) with a descriptive-analytical approach to primary literature on Fiqh, pedagogy, and socio-religious studies. The analysis results show that PBL acts as a catalyst in shifting the paradigm from merely the transfer of knowledge to the transfer of values. Through the presentation of real, dilemma-laden, and context-specific problems, PBL encourages students to understand the diversity of schools of thought (khilāfāt), analyze the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid shari‘ah), and consider public welfare (maslahah). The process of value internalization in PBL occurs through three main phases: cognitive disorientation, collective ijtihad, and reflection and moral commitment. The conclusion of this article emphasizes that implementing PBL in Fiqh learning is effective in shaping students’ characters to be moderate, inclusive, and adaptable in responding to the pluralistic reality of Indonesian society.
