Abstract

Abstract: The selection of exemplary Government Employees Non-Civil Servants (PPNPN) is a strategic initiative aimed at fostering a productive, disciplined, and professional work culture within government institutions. This system is designed to assist the evaluation and selection process of outstanding PPNPN at Ahmad Yani Meteorological Station, replacing conventional assessment methods that previously focused mainly on attendance and communication, which were often considered subjective and time-consuming. The evaluation involved 10 PPNPN assessed based on eight key criteria: productivity, personality and loyalty, attendance, job responsibility, initiative, honesty, neatness, and teamwork. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to Civil Servants (ASN) at Ahmad Yani Meteorological Station, who are directly involved in the daily performance assessment of the PPNPN. The results show that the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method effectively ranked PPNPN performance, with the highest score of 100 achieved by MH and the lowest score of 95.2 by HS. The implementation of the SAW method is expected to provide transparent, objective, and measurable results to support data-driven decision-making in employee performance evaluations. Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of inequality in mediating the relationship between government spending and investment at the happiness level. Government spending and investment are independent variables. Inequality is the mediating variable while happiness is the dependent variable. This study uses data from 2013 to 2022. This study uses the PLS method to see the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable and the role of the mediating variable in mediating the independent variable with the dependent variable. The results showed that investment has a direct and positive relationship with inequality. Government spending does not correlate with the inequality level. The inequality level has no direct influence on the level of happiness. The results of the indirect analysis suggest that inequality cannot mediate the relationship between government spending and investment on the level of happiness. Inequality cannot mediate even though the inequality level tends to decrease. It is because one of the indicators in measuring happiness that has a worsening value, even though other indicators have increased and directly impacted public welfare, is the increasing level of corruption in Indonesia. So, even though inequality tends to improve, corruption is still rampant in this country, and public happiness is decreasing.

Abstract

Language evidence is consulted in dealing with cyberbullying cases. Linguistic analysis is used to reveal the nature of speech and cyberbullying expressions that have legal implications. This study aimed to find the speech patterns used by students in cyberbullying, identify the features of insults in cyberbullying speech, and identify the legal implications of cyberbullying speech on social media. 504 speech data were collected from Facebook and Twitter from January to April 2020. They were all written in social media accounts of Indonesian high school students. The cyberbullying speech data was analyzed qualitatively using forensic linguistics analysis, i.e., analyzing the linguistic aspects of social media speech data with linguistic theory, particularly speech act theory. Results of the linguistic analysis were then linked to the legal implication of the social media speech. The analysis shows that four general patterns of cyberbullying speech are found, Head Act, Head Act - Supportive Move, Supportive Move - Head Act, and Supportive Move - Head Act - Supportive Move. In addition, three features of insults in cyberbullying are found: the use of pejorative words or phrases, the use of words or phrases with negative connotations, and the use of 'reply' or 'mention' features. The patterns of cyberbullying speech found in this study indicate that the insulting effects of different word or phrase formulation vary. However, they all may have legal implications, especially the violations of Law of Information and Electronic Transaction (UU ITE), particularly Article 27 Paragraph (3) regarding insults and defamation.

Abstract

As vocational education becomes increasingly connected to global industry demands, using English effectively is important for students preparing for professional careers. This study analyzes how English for Specific Purposes (ESP) learning can better support Rollingstock Engineering students to develop their communication skills and language knowledge. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through a structured questionnaire administered to 114 second-semester students at the State Polytechnic of Madiun. The questionnaire focused on students’ learning preferences, classroom experiences, perceptions of English learning, and expectations regarding English use in their future careers. The findings reveal that while students recognize English as essential for their professional development, current instruction remains too general and lacks authentic, industry-based content. Most students demonstrated strong career-oriented motivation and viewed English as an important tool for employability, technical communication, and workplace interaction. In addition, the data indicate that students prefer collaborative and experiential learning activities. Students also emphasized the importance of learning technical vocabulary, understanding engineering documents, and practicing communication relevant to maintenance, safety procedures, and industrial operations. These findings highlight the urgent need for a specialized ESP syllabus specifically designed for Rollingstock Engineering students. Developing teaching materials and textbooks that are combined with learning activities based on real workplace situations and authentic communication, is essential to reduce the gap between classroom instruction and the actual demands of the industry. The study suggests that aligning English instruction with real professional practices can better prepare vocational students to communicate effectively, confidently, and professionally in the global rollingstock engineering industry.
