Abstract

This research focuses on the quarter-life crisis problem caused by having finished studying at university but being confused about choices for the future, also due to demands from the surrounding environment regarding the economic sector and also due to academic stress. The more often you experience pressure, the more likely an individual will start to develop negative emotions and views of themselves. Final-year students often experience negative feelings such as confusion, insecurity about their own abilities, and feelings of depression and loss of hope for the future. The aim of this research is to analyze the reflexivity of final-year students in facing the quarter-life crisis. This research uses descriptive research methods with a purposive selection of informants analyzed using Ulrich Beck's Risk Society theory. The quarter-life crisis that final-year students are at risk of experiencing is influenced by awareness of the future, which causes feelings of anxiety, overload, feeling burdened, and feeling left behind by others. Then, the research results also show that to face risks in the future, final-year students carry out reflexivity by improving their skills and also participating in organizations, training, or internships. Social class is also a supporting factor for student reflexivity, but not the main one. Because they have unlimited access, the upper and upper middle classes have better opportunities for reflexivity than the lower and lower middle classes. And social support is also very necessary when final-year students practice reflexivity.

Abstract

This study's main topic is the discussion of transgender social networks in Empat Lawang Regency's Pendopo District. The phrase "transvestites" describes a phenomenon in which men identify as women by acting or wearing like them, even though they are men. Society considers the transvestite phenomenon to be aberrant. The purpose of this study is to elucidate the social network patterns and existence of transvestites in Pendopo District, Empat Lawang Regency. This study's qualitative technique uses purposeful interviewing to select informants who are knowledgeable about the subjects being covered. The results of the survey show that transvestites are currently rather common in the Pendopo sub-district; they can be seen at residences, weddings, and salons. Transvestites aren't scared to show who they are in public these days. The results of the study also show that women in Pendopo District, Empat Lawang Regency, have established interest networks and emotional networks, two distinct types of social networks. In an attempt to network with other transvestites, gain acceptance in society, and attract customers for their salon business, waria founded the network.

Abstract

The Sen Jujur tradition is a vital component of marriage rituals among the PALI community in South Sumatra, symbolizing respect, social responsibility, and the legitimization of familial bonds. However, amid the tide of modernization, these symbolic meanings have undergone a significant transformation. This study aims to explore the shifting meanings of Sen Jujur, from a cultural emblem to an instrument of social prestige and economic burden in contemporary society. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving traditional leaders, youth, and families of marriage participants. The findings reveal that Sen Jujur is no longer perceived solely as an expression of honor, but also as a marker of social status, a reflection of women's educational capital, and a site of social negotiation shaped by stratification, patrilocal kinship systems, and the logic of prestige. The study also highlights the practices of Mokon and wedding handshakes (salaman pengantin) as forms of symbolic reciprocity embedded in social exchange systems, as explained in Mauss theory of The Gift. Rather than being a static tradition, Sen Jujur emerges as a dynamic interpretive space continuously negotiated by its actors. This study contributes conceptually to understanding how local traditions adapt, commodify, and respond to social pressures in modern life, while offering a critical reflection on culturally contextualized and sustainable strategies for heritage preservation.

Abstract

The divorce rate on Java Island tends to increase every year. These indicate a breakdown in marriages. But Javanese people do not only live in Java Island but are spread across many islands in Indonesia, primarily due to the transmigration program. Riau Province, situated on the island of Sumatra, is one of the areas designated for transmigration, resulting in a large number of Javanese people settling in these villages. It turns out that divorce cases are also common in these locations. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the practice of divorce by petition among Javanese women in a transmigration village in Riau Province. The research approach employed in this study was qualitative, with an exploratory research style and a feminist methodology that prioritizes considering women's voices and experiences as worthy of being heard. The results of suggest that certain factors contribute to divorce, particularly in the context of marriage values within Javanese culture: legal system and women’s growing legal awareness, reinterpretations of Javanese familial and cultural values, economic independence and the gendered dimension of divorce, and the search for legal and social legitimacy. Even in transmigration areas far from Java Island, Javanese transmigrants and their descendants continue to uphold Javanese traditional values. These values persist and are internalized in their daily practices, including in the practice of divorce by petition in the transmigration area of Java.

Abstract

Children are assumed to be innocent entities and have not much experience. However, the emergence of the phenomenon of children as perpetrators of crimes (children in conflict with the law/CICL) is contradictory to this assumption. This study explores and examines one aspect of the life of the child perpetrator of this crime, namely the family aspect as the primary habitus. This study used qualitative research methods by interviewing CICL at the Palembang Special Children’s Correctional Institution and Correctional Institution of Kayuagung, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, as well as several related figures. Data were collected by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis is built from the ground up, linearly and hierarchically. In line with the focus of the study, the concept used in this study is the primary habitus, which is part of the habitus concept of Bourdieu. The primary habitus is the habitus that the agent has since childhood, which is the basis for forming other (secondary) habitus. The research results related to primary habitus in CICL show that the family is not present as a whole in the process of CICL growth and development and the application of ineffective parenting. Complete absence of the family, shown to the family by the presence of, 1). CICL with separated parents, 2). CICL with one or both parents died, 3). CICL has an intact family but is not fully present in the child’s growth and development process. Meanwhile, poor parenting is shown through 1). Parenting with violence, 2). CICL’s parents and close people have not become positive role models, and 3). Parents do not/less comprehensively provide knowledge and understanding regarding good and bad deeds. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the family institution as a primary institution and an institution of value inheritance through socialization and education between generations. The family can be the main basis for passing down the values ??of anti-violence and crime in supporting efforts to minimize crime habitus.

Abstract

Political Literacy Education for students at SMA Negeri 25 Banyuasin is an important tool or media to help socialize the importance of political education for the millennial generation. The activities carried out are in the form of outreach about political education, as well as the importance of using digital literacy in obtaining political information for students. This activity is carried out to provide knowledge transfer and is expected to be able to provide enthusiasm for students as first-time voters to participate actively in the upcoming elections and post-conflict local elections. However, the problems faced by Banyuasin 25 Public High School students who already have voting rights include: (1) There are still students who don't care about politics so they tend to be apathetic in the election process. In addition, ignorance of information related to politics and elections causes students to join abstentions; (2) There are students who use their voting rights in selecting candidate pairs based on the amount of money they get (money politics); (4) There are students who do not know how to use social media properly and wisely. The results obtained after socialization include: (1) Many students access social media in the form of Facebook to obtain information about politics, and most of those who use Facebook are female students; and (2) most of the students also get their political knowledge through social media, so it is necessary to have the role of the family and school so that students get correct and reliable information about political education. Therefore, the objectives of this community service activity are: (1) To be able to increase students' understanding of politics, especially in the current digital era; (2) increasing students' interest in political literacy education; (3) Improving student values/norms and character, especially with regard to good and wise use of social media.
