Abstract

This goal is to redesign the packaging for wajik tapai melayu that keep up with the times without changing the logo and product names that were previously known, redesigning the packaging for wajik tapai melayu  with more practical steps and calculating the performance of products and packaging for wajik tapai melayu. The method used is to coordinate with partners, assistance by providing views to partners about the redesign of the packaging for wajik tapai melayu and conducting market trials with new packaging from wajik tapai melayu  by observing consumer responses related to changes in wajik tapai melayu  packaging by going down to the shop where the product is marketed. The results show that 24 months before community service activities began, the average sales of new wajik tapai melayu  were around Rp. 67 million per month after the partner's average income was Rp. 114 million per month or an increase of 69.4%. Then the increase in income with the result of an increase of 16.3% on average to IDR 132 million per month. From the p-value .000 *** it can be ignored that the average increase that occurs is significant. That is, offering care and rejuvenation packaging that can significantly increase income for community service partners. The packaging comparison test results show that consumers agree to this contract and significant changes in graphic design and packaging form. Meanwhile, in terms of information on the packaging, there was relatively no significant difference (p-value = .159) between the old packaging and the new package. This is because there is not much information added or given from the two packages, so that the type of information presented is relatively the same by consumers.

Abstract

Abstract In this study, One Village One Product (OVOP) was used to analyze regional development with the aim of advancing the economy of a region through the identification of superior products in the area. The purpose of using One Village One Product (OVOP) is to identify regional superior products, identify market potential and identify regional superior product development strategies using SWOT analysis of Wajik Tapai Melayu food product. The results of this study is that there are several products that can be used as regional superior products in Riau, such as Wajik Tapai Melayu food product. This is also supported by the Government of Riau Province which is now proclaiming the development of tourism objects in Riau to attract more tourists to visit Riau. By increasing tourists to Riau will give an impact on the growth of small industries, such as Wajik Tapai Melayu food products which are also Regional Superior Products in Riau. Adapun tujuan menggunakan One Village One Product (OVOP) adalah untuk mengidentifikasi terhadap produk unggulan daerah, mengidentifikasi potensi pasar dan mengidentifikasi strategi pengembangan produk unggulan daerah menggunakan analisia SWOT terhadap produk pangan Wajik Tapai Melayu. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ada beberapa produk yang bisa dijadikan produk unggulan daerah di Riau salah satunya adalah produk pangan Wajik Tapai Melayu. Hal ini juga didukung oleh Pemerintah Propinsi Riau saat ini mencanangkan pengembangan objek wisata di Riau untuk menarik wisatawan untuk berkunjung ke Riau, dengan meningkatnya wisatawan ke Riau akan berdampak terhadap pertumbuhan industri kecil salah satunya produk pangan Wajik Tape Melayu yang juga menjadi Produk Unggulan Daerah di Riau.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity scheme for the Regional Superior Product Development Program is to overcome the problem of the Malay tapai partner since 2008, namely the texture of the prouduk that hardens before expiration, the processing process is still conventional and the packaging process is inefficient and ineffective. This greatly affects the efforts of PPPUD partners in advancing their business. The methods used are training, mentoring and activity evaluation. The result of this activity is that the texture of the tapai Malay diamond is softer and more durable using Stabilex BR. The processing process is more efficient because partners use a crystallization evaporator which can save 3 hours with the same quantity of dough. The packaging of tapai malay diamonds has undergone a more contemporary change and shortens the time in the packaging and consumption process in the minds of consumers. This PPPUD activity is very beneficial for partners, it is proven that the problems faced by PPPUD partners can be resolved properly, this is the important role of academics in advancing SMEs.

Abstract

Wajik Tape Melayu merupakan salah satu usaha kecil menengah yang berdiri sejak tahun 2008. Pada awalnya hasil produksi wajik hanya dipasarkan di sekitar Kota Pekanbaru. Sejak tahun 2011, pemasaran produk Wajik Tape Melayu telah merambah ke luar kota, termasuk luar provinsi. Melihat kondisi tersebut penulis tertarik untuk mengkaji tentang peran informasi pemasaran pada usaha Wajik Tape Melayu. Hal ini dilakukan selain untuk mengembangkan usaha masyarakat dan untuk turut serta mengembangkan produk unggulan daerah khas provinsi Riau. Metode yang digunakan adalah kepustakaan atau studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa keberadaan dan pemanfaatan informasi pemasaran dapat dilakukan melalui beberapa langkah yaitu mengindentifikasi kebutuhan informasi, mengembangkan informasi, melakukan analisis informasi, pendistribusian dan penggunaan informasi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa informasi pemasaran memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam usaha Wajik Tape Melayu. Beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi peranan informasi tersebut adalah adanya tekanan persaingan, pertumbuhan pasar, usaha untuk meminimalisir kesalahan, dan meningkatnya harapan konsumen. Informasi penting yang dibutuhkan dalam pengembangan usaha Wajik Tape Melayu antara lain informasi terkait situasi persaingan, kondisi perekonomian, peraturan perundang-undangan, dan kondisi internal perusahaan

Abstract

The study aims to identify the root problems facing by the small firm that further can guide the university to implement the most appropriate treatments to enhance the partnering small firm's business performance. A qualitative approach was employed, primarily conducting in-depth interviews and brainstorming with business owners, employees, store managers, and consumers of "Wajik Tapai" in Riau Province, in the framework of root cause analysis. The result reveals that the distinct causes identified as the driver of the small firm's income stagnation can be rooted in four perspectives, i.e., product durability, non-ergonomic working layout with a traditional process, conventional/offline marketing, and variability of product.

Abstract

Conflicts of interest are the entry point for the abuse of power and corruption. The implementation of a manipulative ex-officio system that tends to perpetuate the oligarchy will cause a corrupt behavior in the governance of private higher education institutions. To date, studies on ex-officio related to higher education governance have never been discussed academically. The purpose of this study, thus, aims to criticize the application of ex-officio and its potential consequences in the supervision system at private higher education institutions. The study used a qualitative exploratory and the literature study was employed. The result reveals that the ex-officio is a legal model used in many higher education institutions. However, in its application it can lead to conflicts of interest and abuse of power which in turn has the potential of corrupt behavior university governance.

Abstract

Higher education institutions (HEI) are encouraged to develop Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) that could assist the process of external audit, accreditation and to face the tight competition. General phenomenon of HEI’sIQAS,so far, is still away from qualified and even practically tends to be manipulative. This literature-based article aims to review the role of leadership in campus political practice and the urgence of external professional usage in order to improve internal quality assurance in HEI. The study reveals that improper campus political practice has become the bottleneck for the effectiveness of IQAS. It needs a fundamental change of top leader’s paradigm, particularly in the policy of internal auditor placement. A revolutionary breakthrough of hiring external professional tobe placed as internal auditor seems to be needed, specifically to keep the independency and objectivity, as well as to assure the qualified performance of all units in HEI.

Abstract

Fokus utama dari kegiatan ini adalah bagaimana membantu UMKM Wajik tapai Melayu agar dapat memasarkan produknya menembus pasar ekspor. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di kediaman UMKM yang beralamatkan di Jl. Muslimin Desa Pandau Jaya, Riau. Adapun permasalahan mitra ada pada kualitas dan ketahan produk yaitu tekstur produk yang cepat mengeras sebelum habis masa kadaluarsa serta proses produksi yang cukup lama. Cara yang digunakan dalam mengatasi permasalahan tersebut berupa pedampingan mulai dari diskusi dan menemukan referensi, pelatihan peningkatan kualitas produk, pelatihan efesiensi proses produksi, dan mengevaluasi. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 10 orang yang terdiri dari pemilik UMKM, pegawai, dan tenaga ahli pangan dengan lama nya waktu pengabdian lebih kurang 12 bulan. Hasil dari kegiatan yaitu setelah penggunaan Stabilex BR maka produk dapat bertahan hingga 1 tahun serta memiliki tekstur yang lembut. Pengguaan mesin Crystallization Evaporator mampu menghemat waktu 2 hingga 3 jam serta mampu mengoplah 50 kilogram adonan dan menghasilkan 125 kotak wajik tapai dengan berat bersih 400 gram per kotak. Artinya kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini sangat bermanfaat bagi mitra karena dapat meningkatkan kualitas produknya untuk menuju pasar ekspor. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pendampingan dapat membantu mitra untuk menuju pasar ekspor dan secarar tidak langsung meningkatkan pendapatan mitra

Abstract

Abundant studies regarding motives in social enterprise have been conducted but have barely explored the gaps between motivational expectations and realizations. Particularly in waste bank studies, such a study has yet to be scholarly discussed. Using expectancy theory and mismatch hypotheses, this study explored the motives in waste bank participation towards owners/managers and customers and measured the gaps between the motive expectations and realizations. Quantitative comparison tests were employed on 45 Indonesian waste bank owners/managers and 162 customers whose data were collected directly and through online surveys. The findings reveal that the most expected motive was the environmental, while the least was the economic; this went for both waste bank owners/managers and customers. The results also show that severe mismatches occurred between expectations and realizations, in which the most significant gap for waste bank owners/managers was educational, while the environmental motive was the biggest for customers. This study's findings enrich the social entrepreneurship literature by showing that the motives per se are insufficient to reveal individuals' actual situations in supporting the social programs, as disparities are very likely to occur between expectations and realities. The gap analysis in this study provides a different alternative to conducting studies related to the underlying motives for supporting social entrepreneurship programs.

Abstract

Research Originality: How Islamic attribute fulfilment may influence Muslim tourists' preferences has been widely known. Yet, the way the model is examined the other way around is relatively scarce in halal tourism literature. The originality of this research lies in the model use in testing the effect of companion type and destination choice, moderated by different levels of religiosity, on Muslim tourists’ assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes in halal tourism.Research Objectives: This study aims to examine the effect of Muslim tourists’ preferences in terms of companion type and destination choice, moderated by their level of religiosity, on their assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes in halal tourism. Research Methods: Friedman and Cochran's Q non-parametric tests were conducted on 189 data collected online to examine the direct effects of companion type, destination choice, and religiosity on Muslim tourists’ assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes. Model 1 of the Hayes Process Macro with binary logistic was employed to examine the moderating effect of religiosity.Empirical Results: The results showed that companion type, religiosity, and destination choice significantly affected Indonesian Muslim travellers' assessment of the importance of Islamic attributes.
