Abstract

This paper examines the credibility of source persons for community service projects in improving financial literacy for vocational school students in Indonesia. Improving financial literacy among Indonesian youth is a long-term effort that requires multi- collaboration between the government, financial institutions, educational institutions, NGOs, and other stakeholders. Despite its substandard position to Singapore, Myanmar, and Malaysia, Indonesia’s financial literacy proficiency has improved significantly—one of which—after being catalyzed by the government’s cooperation with higher education institutions through community service programs. However, amid these improvements, greater attention must be given to capital markets, whose literacy level is most deficient compared to the banking, insurance, financing, pension fund, and financial technology sectors. By referring to the source credibility theory and PROSEM (problem rooting, solution treatments, and measurement) procedures, this study aims to improve vocational school students’ capital market literacy and determine the better expert (academician versus regulator experts) in providing basic capital market training to Indonesian vocational school students. Using 118 trainees, 59 each in classrooms trained by an academic and a capital market regulator separately, descriptive analysis along with ANOVA, paired- sample test, and independent samples test was used to observe the pre-and post-test of capital market literacy training. The results demonstrate significant improvement in students’ capital market literacy after the training. This study has demonstrated that credible trainers, especially those perceived as experts, are more effective as financial literacy sources for the trainees in capital market basic training. It provides a better guide for similar community services regarding selecting credible trainers or source persons.

Abstract

Only a few studies have concurrently investigated school image, attractiveness, and parents' past experiences at private high school within a single, emotion-based framework. This study examines the direct, indirect, and moderating relationships among these variables in shaping private high school choice in Indonesia. Employing the Hayes PROCESS Macro on data from 270 parents, analysis revealed that school image is a powerful predictor of parental school choice, operating both directly and indirectly via school attractiveness. Prior private high school experience significantly leveraged the parents' ratings of image, attractiveness, and school choice, and magnified the impact of both image and attractiveness on the final school choice. This study provides two primary contributions: First, it significantly advances the literature on emotion-based school choice by demonstrating the strong interplay between image and attractiveness. Second, it establishes prior experience as a critical moderator, indicating that the emotional drivers of choice are fundamentally different for experienced parents, offering a new insight for school management and marketing strategies that seek to leverage parental background.

Abstract

While the effect of knowledge management (KM) in predicting firm innovation and performance has been extensively documented in large enterprises, its dynamics within micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are relatively underexplored. The current study surveyed 174 Indonesian MSMEs, employed Hayes PROCESS Macro to investigate the KM-innovation-performance pathways with firm size as a moderator. The findings reveal that medium-sized firms exhibited the greatest KM practices, innovation, and performance. KM significantly enhanced innovation and performance, while innovation had no significant impact. Firm size strengthened the KM-innovation-performance linkage, while the KM-innovation-performance mediation and its size conditional effects were positive yet marginally insignificant. Theoretical and practical contributions are also discussed, and recommendations for further studies are also proposed.
