Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectS of the COVID-19 pandemic, labor, domestic direct investment (DDI), AND foreign direct investment (FDI) on economic growth in Indonesia. The type of data used in this study is panel data, which is a combination of cross-section and THE time series data (Silvia, 2020). The cross-section data involves 34 provinces and time-series data covers the period from the first quarter of 2018 to the second quarter of 2021. The result found out that the regression coefficient of labor has a positive and significant effect at the 5 percent level, which means that if the number of workers increases by 1 percent, economic growth will increase by 0.03 percent. Furthermore, the FDI variable also has a significant and positive effect on economic growth in Indonesia. We can see in table 3.2 that the FDI variable is significant at the 5 percent level with a regression coefficient of 0.012, this means that an increase in FDI by 1 percent will accelerate economic growth by 0.012 percent. From the results of data processing obtained by the author, it can be seen that the DDI variable has a positive but not significant effect on economic growth in Indonesia, this can be seen from the p-value which is greater than 5 percent. The regression coefficient of -0.001 proves that the COVID-19 pandemic has a negative impact on economic growth in Indonesia. When the COVID-19 pandemic reached the territory of Indonesia, economic growth slowed by 0.001 percent.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of cultivating patient behavior from an early age because this patient behavior is useful for the future. The purpose of this study was to see the development of patient behavior in the August 17th competition activities. This study uses a Literature Review using three stages, namely data collection, data assessment, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are August 17th competition activities that can be carried out on children aged 4-5 years, namely the flag relay race, putting balls in a basket, cracker eating competition, marble carrying competition in a spoon, filling water into bottles, dribbling balloons. Although these activities are competitions that can build a healthy competitive spirit, these activities can also increase children's sense of pleasure, and can improve several aspects of child development, namely, cognitive, language, motoric, and social emotional, especially patient behavior, such as training children to be patient waiting for their turn to play then children will learn calmly and not rush in taking, dribbling, or putting in objects. In addition, children learn not to get angry and not give up or accept when they do not win.

Abstract

The ASEAN-5 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand) have experienced rapid economic growth, leading to increased energy consumption and carbon emissions. While economic expansion initially increases emissions, it can also facilitate the adoption of cleaner energy sources. This study investigates the moderating role of economic growth in the impact of energy consumption on carbon emissions using panel data from 2001 to 2022. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method was employed due to its capacity to analyze both short- and long-term relationships. The results from the ARDL analysis reveal that the consumption of non-renewable energy substantially elevates carbon emissions in both the short and long term. In contrast, the influence of renewable energy consumption on emissions is positive only in the long term. Additionally, non-renewable energy consumption exerts a positive effect on CO2 emissions, which is moderated by both economic growth and the square of economic growth. Conversely, renewable energy consumption contributes negatively to CO2 emissions, similarly moderated by economic growth and its square. These findings correspond with the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) theory, which posits that emissions initially rise alongside economic development, only to subsequently decrease as economies shift towards more sustainable technologies. Therefore, policymakers are advised to implement robust environmental regulations, invest in renewable energy initiatives, and promote sustainable economic practices to achieve long-term carbon reduction goals. Moreover, governments should enforce stricter policies on fossil fuel consumption and raise public awareness of environmental preservation.

Abstract

This community service project in Alue Naga Village, Banda Aceh, aimed to explore and identify its economic empowerment potential, focusing on oyster farming and ecotourism. Despite the villages rich natural resources, such as a preserved mangrove ecosystem and high-quality oysters, these remain underutilized due to limited infrastructure, poor resource management skills, and marketing challenges. The project used a Service-Learning (SL) approach, involving multiple stakeholders including local government, researchers, and community members. Key activities included socialization, education, and training for fishermen, MSMEs, women, and youth. The project delivered results of prior studies and developed sustainable strategies for local economic empowerment. The results showed significant potential for oyster farming and ecotourism development, though improvements in infrastructure and market access are needed. Villagers showed high engagement, particularly in developing processed oyster products like crackers and nuggets. Collaboration between stakeholders enabled a comprehensive approach to economic empowerment, addressing both social and environmental factors. This project offers a replicable model for other coastal villages in Indonesia, demonstrating that strategic planning, community engagement, and multidisciplinary collaboration are essential for sustainable village development. Additionally, the initiative contributed to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as No Poverty, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Life Below Water, highlighting its long-term benefits for the community.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has created a pressing need for digital transformation in various sectors, including entrepreneurship. However, many students and academics still lack adequate understanding and skills to identify future business opportunities through digital approaches. This community service activity, titled Digital Transformation Education for Identifying Future Business Opportunities, was conducted to address this issue. The program involved students and lecturers from Telkom University's Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Syiah Kuala University. Using the Service Learning (SL) approach, the activity was carried out through an online seminar that combined theoretical explanations and interactive discussions with digital business practitioners. Two experts in Islamic economics and information technology served as the resource persons. The activity aimed to increase digital literacy and entrepreneurial awareness among participants. Assessment through pre-test and post-test evaluations revealed a significant improvement in understanding, with the average score increasing from 63.5 to 85.8. The results demonstrate that structured digital transformation education can effectively enhance the capacity of the academic community in identifying and developing digital-based business opportunities. This activity also contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting quality education, decent work and economic growth, and fostering innovation.

Abstract

Labor and investment can raise emissions in the short term but may reduce them in the long term if energy efficiency improves. Inflation influences emissions through changes in energy prices and production costs. The exchange rate affects emissions by altering the cost of imported energy and green technologies. Economic growth generally increases emissions, especially in early development stages, as described by the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis. Given these linkages, this study examines the effects of labor, investment, inflation, exchange rate, and economic growth on CO2 emissions in ASEAN-5 countries. To ensure robust findings, the study uses the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model and applies Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS) and Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) for dynamic estimations. Results show that labor, exchange rate, and economic growth do not significantly impact CO2 emissions in the short term. However, investment and inflation have significant positive effects, indicating they contribute to short-term emission increases. In the long term, labor, investment, and inflation significantly reduce emissions, while the exchange rate remains insignificant. Economic growth, however, significantly increases emissions over time. This suggests that without strong environmental policies, continued economic expansion may lead to higher emissions. Overall, the findings highlight that structural factors like investment and economic growth are crucial in shaping CO2 emissions. Policies such as carbon taxes or emissions trading systems can help internalize the environmental costs of emissions, encouraging a shift to cleaner energy and reducing fossil fuel dependence.

Abstract

A high level of poverty in an area can have a significant impact on the economic performance of a region. This study will analyze the influence of the base sector, human development, and provincial minimum wage on poverty through the role of GDP growth in Sumatra. The ARDL and Location Quotient (LQ) panel data regression methods were used to analyze panel data consisting of 10 provinces in Sumatra for the period 2011 to 2022. The findings found that there is one sector that is dominant in all provinces on the island of Sumatra, namely the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry sectors. The direct influence between the variables of the base sector, human development, and regional minimum wage on poverty and economic growth shows that in the long run, human development and the minimum wage have a negative effect on poverty and economic growth in a positive direction, while the base sector has no effect on poverty and economic growth. Economic growth plays a mediating role in mediating the three variables. The government, in reducing poverty and encouraging inclusive economic growth, is advised to allocate greater resources and investment to the agriculture-based sectors, and the government can also focus policies on increasing human development and minimum wage, considering that these variables have proven to have a positive influence on economic growth directly.
