Abstract

Pendahuluan: Di Indonesia, Povinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur menduduki urutan ke 17 kejadian HIV/AIDS dari 33 provinsi dan Sumba Timur yang merupakan kabupaten di NTT terus mengalami peninggatan kasus setiap tahun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui data karakteristik penderita HIV/AIDS di Sumba Timur Tahun 2010-2016. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan desain crossectional menggunakan data sekunder rekam medik dari total penderita penderita HIV/AIDS di Klinik Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) RSUD Umbu Rara Meha. Data dianalisis secara untivariat. Hasil: Dari 111 penderita, tercatat penderita terbanyak pada tahun 2016 (42.3%), jumlah kematian paling banyak pada tahun 2016 (5 orang). Karakteristik berdasarkan sosiodemografi tertinggi adalah umur 25-34 tahun (51.4%), laki-laki (64.9%), bekerja sebagai Petani (48.6%), berpendidikan SMA (48.6%), menikah (62.2%), bertempat tinggal di Kecamatan Kambera (28.8%), terinfeksi HIV/AIDS melalui hubungan seksual (97.7%) dan Infeksi Opurtunistik terbanyak yaitu Tuberkulosis (22.5%). Saran: Masyarakat harus setia pada satu pasangan dan tidak menggunakan jarum suntik untuk narkoba maupun tatto dan melakukan pemeriksaan HIV secara dini. Kepada petugas klinik VCT Rumah Sakit Umbu Rara Meha diharapkan untuk melaksanakan upaya promotif, penemuan kasus secara dini serta merevisi formulir VCT dimana diharapkan item seperti jenis pekerjaan, faktor risiko tertular HIV, serta gejala klinis dan infeksi opurtunistik lebih rinci dituliskan serta formulir VCT dapat digunakan sebagai lembar kontrol pasien.

Abstract

Introduction: Poor communication from nurses can make misunderstandings between nurses and patients also patient’s families. A survey at students third level has practice in hospital showed most of they had therapeutic communication not well. The aims of the study is to known correlation of therapeutic communication students level III with patient perception at Inpatient Care Umbu Rara Meha Hospital Waingapu. Methods: Desain of this study is descriptive study with cross sectional design. The sample is 155 patients who have received treatment from students level III. The independent variables are therapeutic communication orientation phase, phase of work, termination phase and the dependent variable is the perception of the patient. Data were collected with interviews using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate with Chi-square. Results: Most of the patient perception showed students level III has poor therapeutic communication (123 people; 79.4%). Results of this study also found has correlations therapeutic communication at orientation phase with patient perception (OR=12.710; 95% CI= 6.023 - 26.821; p-value = 0.001), has correlations therapeutic communication at phase of work with patient perception (OR=4.691; 95% CI=2.160-10.187; p-value = 0.001) and has correlations therapeutic communication at termination phase with patient perception (OR=3.460; 95%CI=1.970-6.077; p-value=0.001). Suggested: For the hospital, expected to improve the guidance clinic by CI. For educational institutions expected to improve the student guidance and practical experience in the laboratory and hospital specially skill therapeutic communicating also improving the quality of learning therapeutic communication.

Abstract

Introduction: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a disease caused by infectious agents that are transmitted from human to human. ARI is influenced by the lack of family knowledge of the importance of environmental hygiene to health. Based on data from the District Health Office of East Sumba in 2015, people with ISPA ranks first of 10 disease patterns is 21.227 cases. The purpose of this study is to know the description of the physical environment of the house against the incidence of acute respiratory infections in infants at PuskesmasKawangu Pandawai District, East Sumba Regency. Method: This type of research used descriptive method. Sampling technique Accidental Sampling and research instrument using questionnaire. Result: From 95 respondents who have physical house environment fulfill good criteria that is 63,2%, but there are still some respondent who have physical environment of house with criterion less that is 9,4%. Conclusion: this is due to the lack of family knowledge about the requirements of the physical environment of the house is good, the family behavior to realize or know how to maintain health or prevent things that harm health and still strong community culture related to the way home making where almost all respondents have stage houses made of boards.

Abstract

Introduction: Learning motivation plays an important role in the learning process because the learning process requires the interaction and active participation of the learners to succeed. Method: Researchers use Descriptive research with the number of samples as many as 75 students determined by Purposive Sampling data collected using questionnaires and analyzed univariately. Results: motivation to learn students based on intrinsic motivation employee class (good interest 84%, less than 16%, discipline of both 88%, approximately 12%) and regular classes (interest either 96%, less than 4%, discipline of both 98%, less than 2%) And extrinsic motivation of employee class (good family 100%, good friend 88%, less 12%, lecturer good 100%, and environment good 96%, less 4%). Regular class (good family 98%, less 2%, good friend 98%, less 2%, lecturer good 98%, less 2%, and good environment 100%). Conclusion: Student learning motivation is divided into 2 namely intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation consists of interest and discipline whereas extrinsic motivation consists of the support of family, friends, lecturers and the environment. Both types of motivation between employee class and regular class are both in the range/category either.

Abstract

Background: In 2016 at East Sumba, there were 111 HIV / AIDS patients and the majority of productive age was 25-35 years old (51.4%) and most from Kambera District (28.8%). This study were aim to know the relation of environment with with HIV / AIDS Behavior Adolescent in Senior High School Kambera District, East Nusa Tenggara Regency. Methods: The study was analytic with crosssectional design. The population are 471 students class XI of Public Senior High School 1 Kambera, Christian Senior High School Payeti and Public Senior High School Vocational 5 Waingapu. The sample are 132 students who was selection with simple random sampling technique. The study was conducted in August 2017. The independent variable are environment and the dependent variable are behavior. The instrument used questionnaire. Analised data using univarait to know frekuensi and persentase also analised bivariate using chi-square. Results: 132 students were interviewebd and showed the majority are male (55.3%), 17 years old (50.8%), majority perents of farmer's (75,0%) with income ≤ regional minimum salary of East Sumba Rp. 1.250.000 (79.5%) and majotiry students had plan to continue the study after high school (77.3%). The majority environment of students are less good (63%) and behavior related to HIV / AIDS are less good (62.1%). The bivariate analysis showed a good environment related 3 times to good behavior related to HIV / AIDS in Kambera District Senior High School of East Sumba Regency and this relationship was statistically significant (PR = 2,625; 95% CI = 1,680-4,079; p-value <0.001). Suggested: School, community and family environments must give special attention to students and friendship of students environment so that it does not lead to less behavior especially HIV / AIDS.

Abstract

Background: Breakfast is described as the most important meal of the day. Breakfast is associated with the learning process and the learning achievement index in school because breakfast has an influence on the ability of the kongnitif. This study aims to determine the relationship of breakfast habits with student achievement in the Nursing Study Program in Waingapu. Method: the research design used was a pre-experimental design with cross sectional design. A sample of 171 respondents was taken using the stratifed simple random sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire and student study results (semester IP) and analyzed using chi squre analysis techniques. Results: More than half of students who have breakfast habits every day have good achievements of 90 students (52.63%), there are no students who have the habit of occasionally having breakfast and not having breakfast that has very good performance. The coefficient for the relationship of breakfast habits with learning achievement of -0.144 and a significance of 0.118. Conclusion: there is no relationship between breakfast habits (P= 0.107) with learning achievement (P = 0.018) in Waingapu Nursing Study Program students.

Abstract

Background: Moringa leaves are a fairly good alternative in meeting the nutritional needs of underweight toddlers, pregnant women with anemia and in daily life and can be used as a business with high economic value. The purpose of this study is correlation between of knowladge and cultural with intervention of using Moringa as a food ingredient for improving family nutrition. Method: Cross-sectional design analytic study. Sample are 399 family from Lewa and Pandawai sub-districts. The dependent variable of this study is the intervention of using Moringa and the independent variables study are knowledge and culture of Moringa. The instrument used is a questionnaire. The statistic analisis of study is chi squere. Results: Bivariate analysis is good knowledge related 18 times to Moringa utilization measures (PR = 18,389; 95% CI = 9,722-34,784; p-value <0,001), good culture relates 5 times to Moringa utilization measures (PR = 4,698; 95% CI = 2,631-8,391; p-value <0,001). Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between knowledge and culture with the use of Moringa utilization measures. Latar Belakang: Daun kelor merupakan alternatif yang cukup baik dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan gizi balita kurus, ibu hamil dengan anemia maupun dalam kehidupan sehari-hari serta dapat dijadikan usaha yang bernilai ekonomis tinggi. Tujuan penelitian untuk melihat hubungan pengetahuan dan budaya dengan tindakan pemanfaatan kelor di Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Metode: Studi analitik desain crosssectional. Jumlah sampel 399 kepala keluarga dari Kecamatan Lewa dan Pandawai. Variabel terikat penelitian ini adalah tindakan pemanfaatan kelor dan variabel bebas yang diteliti adalah pengetahuan dan budaya. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu kuesioner. Analisis statistik yang digunakan adalah chi squere. Hasil: Hasil analisa statistik menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan dengan tindakan pemanfaatan daun kelor (PR=18,389;95%CI=9,722-34,784; p-value <0,001) dan terdapat hubungan budaya dengan tindakan pemanfaatan kelor (PR=4,698;95%CI=2,631-8,391; p-value <0,001). Kesimpulan : Terdapat hubungan yang cukup signifikan antara pengetahuan dan budaya dengan tindakan pemanfaatan daun kelor.

Abstract

Background: Malaria is a disease caused by the plasmodium parasite transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. The high malaria endemic area is concentrated on Sumba Island. Aim: To identify the challenges and successes of malaria elimination programs in endemic areas. Method: This research is a literature review. The literature search process uses the Google Scholar database with the keywords 'Challenges and Successes of Malaria Elimination Programs in Endemic Areas'. Inclusion criteria are journals published in the 2022-2023 period, journal article types with quantitative, qualitative research methods and review results, journals can be accessed in full via full text pdf files, articles taken are national and international journal articles. Results: The challenges of malaria elimination programs in endemic areas are increasing resistance to treatment, decreasing vaccine efficacy, Human resources, infrastructure and supporting equipment are still lacking in quantity and quality, limited funding, weak community involvement programs, multisectors and stakeholders, geographical conditions, geology and community behavior. The success of malaria elimination programs in endemic areas by increasing capacity, capability, regional and national resilience, health and technical human resource competencies and leadership in disease control, expanding multisectoral initiative programs, holistic quality approaches involving individuals/ families/ communities, increasing investment in research and development of potentially transformative technologies used in malaria elimination programs. So, national and international multisectoral cooperation needs to be improved so that the target of eliminating malaria is achieved.

Abstract

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis (pulmonary TB) is an infectious disease, and the bacteria are easily spread from an infected person to another. A person can become infected by inhaling airborne droplets from a cough or sneeze from an infected person. The number of pulmonary TB sufferers in East Sumba Regency was recorded in 2021 as many as 46 cases. Objective: To determine the description of maternal behavior in preventing pulmonary TB in children in families with pulmonary TB patients in the Waingapu Health Center work area, Kambajawa Village. Method: The type of research used is quantitative with a descriptive method, and the sampling technique in this study is a saturated sample with a total of 30 respondents. The instrument used was a questionnaire about the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of mothers in preventing pulmonary TB in children. Data analysis used descriptive statistics. Results: Description of maternal behavior in preventing pulmonary TB in children with the results of a description of maternal knowledge in preventing pulmonary TB in children who have good knowledge of 19 people (63.33%), sufficient knowledge of 5 people (16.66%), and less knowledge of 6 people (13.33%). 28 respondents (93.33%) had a good attitude, 2 people (6.66%) had a fair attitude. Respondents who had good actions were 21 people (70%), 2 people had sufficient actions (6.66%), and 7 people had poor actions (23.33%).

Abstract

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the major health challenges in Indonesia, especially in areas with high poverty and dense population. The role of community knowledge and attitudes is very important in preventing and controlling TB. Lack of community knowledge and awareness has the potential to increase the spread of Pulmonary TB. Objective: To describe the knowledge and attitudes of the community in preventing the transmission of Pulmonary TB in Temu Village, Kanatang District, East Sumba Regency. Method: The research design used descriptive. The population in this study were people living in Temu Village with a sample of 51 respondents using a saturated sample. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. Data analysis was descriptive. Results: The description of respondents' knowledge was predominantly in the good category of 22 people (43.1%) and respondents' attitudes were predominantly in the good category of 20 people (40%).
