Abstract

This research aimed to find out the result of comparison between experimental and control group whether explicit instruction has influence in enhancing student’s cognition in language grammar on reading skills at MTS Al Muddakir Banjarmasin. The number of participants taken by researcher are 20 students either experimental and control group. The collecting of data used by researcher is to apply an essay test and reading texts. Researchers build up the test of instrument validity and reliability before the instruments are tested in experimental group. Then, researcher did independent sample t-test untuk find out the mean score of cognitive ability of students in language grammar on reading skills. The result of finding gained by research stated that sig (2-tailed) 0.000 is less than 0.05. it meant that there is difference of influencing cognitive ability of students in language grammar on reading skills but in independent sample t-test, the result is 0.164 > 0,05. It can be concluded that it meant that there is no difference of mean score of cognitive ability of students on experimental group but for the influence of explicit instruction that resulted in paired sample t-test, there is difference of influencing the result of cognitive ability of students in reading skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate whether the combination of students’ self-esteem and students’ motivation significantly explains their English-speaking proficiency, both separately and simultaneously. For this purpose, 38 students were selected among the undergraduate students of the Islamic Study Faculty, University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka, Indonesia. A quantitative analysis was applied. To measure the students’ self-esteem and motivation, modified questionnaires were used, while their English-speaking proficiency was evaluated by two raters. The result showed a significant influence of the combination of the two variables on the dependent variable; English speaking proficiency. It indicated from the calculation by using SPSS version 17.00 which showed that the value of F-observed 11.463 is more than F-critical (3.27). The multiple correlation jointly between X1 and X2 and Y (Ry12) by 0.629 is significant. Moreover, the R-squared value of 0.396 can be interpreted that self-esteem and motivation together account for 39.6% of the variation in students’ English-speaking proficiency.

Abstract

Masa remaja adalah suatu masa yang komplek, merupakan masa pencarian jati diri, penuh dengan gejolak-gejolak emosi, baik yang positif maupun negatif. Disabilitas secara umum merupakan suatu pemaknaan yang digunakan untuk seseorang yang mengalami cacat, baik cacat fisik maupun cacat mental. Keterlibatan orangtua memiliki arti yang penting bagi anak terutama anak penyandang disabilitas. Anak penyandang disabilitas umumnya membutuhkan keterlibatan orangtua yang lebih dibandingkan anak pada umumnya. Peran orang tua sangat diperlukan dalam membantu mereka melakukan perkembangan perilaku maupun beradaptasi dengan lingkungan.Solusi yang ditawarkan atas permasalahan tersebut antara lain: 1) Upaya membantu orang tua anak disabilitas dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan dalam pola asuh, 2) Memberikan pemahaman kepada orang tua Dalam Parenting Self-Efficacy Bagi Orang Tua Penyandang Disabilitas Di Yayasan Rumah Disabilitas Borneo Banjarmasin, 3) Memberikan wokshop Pengasuhan (Good Parenting) Dalam Parenting Self-Efficacy Bagi Orang Tua Penyandang Disabilitas Di Yayasan Rumah Disabilitas Borneo Banjarmasin.Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama 2 kali pertemuan dengan berbagai metode seperti ceramah, demonstrasi, dan praktek. Khalayak sasaran pada kegiatan ini adalah 25 orang tua anak disabilitas pada yayasan rumah disabilitas borneo Banjarmasin. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan keilmuan baru bagi anak tunarungu dalam melaksanakan konseling sebaya.

Abstract

Education greatly influences the outcome of the students' learning process. One obstacle in education today concerns the literacy of students’ English language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Most students possess a low interest in enhancing the literacy of those four skills. The researchers believe that the strategy that can be adopted to enhance students’ literacy skills is the use of debate. So, the purpose of this research is to identify the students’ views of debate as a strategy to enhance English language skills’ literacy. Since the research used qualitative design, the researchers conducted semi-structured interviews, and used primary data and secondary data for data collection. The participants involved are debaters from different public and private universities in South Kalimantan. The result of the research showed that all participants agree that their literacy skills are influenced positively by debate and most participants view that debate can be used as a strategy to enhance the four skills’ literacy.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to determine students' views and to find out the benefits of implementation of photovoice based on board game in speaking activity in senior high school. In this research, the researcher design used qualitative research, data collection procedures were conducted through observations and interviews with students of class XII of SMAN 3 Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan province, Indonesia, with pseudonyms A, B, C, D, E, F. The researcher conducted a semi-structured interview to investigate second-semester student's views on the implementation of a board game. It can be concluded that photovoice based on board game as educational games in the classroom acts as a tremendously helpful learning media that can improve the students' engagement, performance, speaking skills, public speaking, confidence in speaking, and ability to speak English in class. It can be a tool to help the teachers do the formative assessment.

Abstract

This research aimed to explore the role of electronic media in enhancing English language learning among high school students in Banjarmasin, Indonesia. The research focused on students’ perceptions and their experiences with digital platforms, apps, and social media. The rapid advancement of technology has made electronic media essential tools in Education, offering students flexible, engaging, and interactive learning opportunities. Despite these benefits, challenges such as limited internet access, insufficient digital skills, and lack of direct teacher interaction were also noted. The findings revealed that students found electronic media motivating and enjoyable, particularly in developing listening and speaking skills. They appreciated the easy access to learning materials and the flexibility to learn anytime and anywhere. However, the lack of in-depth teacher explanations and the dependency on a stable internet connection remained significant barriers. The research suggested that while electronic media could significantly enhance language learning, their full potential could only be realized by addressing technological challenges and promoting digital literacy.

Abstract

Anemia merupakan suatu keadaan dimana tubuh memiliki jumlah sel darah merah yang sedikit atau kurang dari normal, yang mana sel darah merah itu mengandung Haemoglobin yang berfungsi untuk membawa oksigen ke seluruh jaringan tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan produk baru berupa permen jelly daun kacang panjang sebagai salah satu asupan bergizi untuk mencegah anemia pada ibu hamil di PKM Kalanganyar tahun 2023. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan metode penelitian Eksperimen dengan pre eksperimental design yang digunakan yaitu One Grup Pre-test Post-test. Waktu penelitian bulan November 2023. Populasi penelitian ini sebanyak 119 ibu hamil dengan Anemia di wilayah Puskesmas Kalanganyar. Besar sampel yang digunakan yaitu 8 menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan hasil univariat didapatkan bahwa kenaikan kadar Hb ibu hamil dengan anemia mulai dari angka 1,3 gr/dl hingga 4,2 gr/dl dengan rata-rata kenaikan kadar Hb berada di angka 2,7 gr/dl. Oleh karena itu, permen jelly daun kacang panjang ini dapat menjadi salah satu makanan tambahan maupun camilan sehat untuk mencegah anemia.

Abstract

This research explored the English learning experiences of Generation Z students in Indonesia using a narrative inquiry approach. Amidst the rapid advancement of digital technology, it was important to understand how Generation Z, born in the digital era, interacted with English language learning. This research aimed to explore students' perceptions, challenges, and lived experiences in learning English to contribute to developing more relevant teaching practices. A qualitative research design was applied by collecting personal narratives from five purposively selected students. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and reflective writing tasks, then thematically analyzed to identify patterns and individual perspectives. The findings of this research identified four main themes: (1) a preference for informal digital platforms, such as social media and learning apps; (2) emotional changes related to self-confidence and peer comparison; (3) the role of teacher support and classroom environment in enhancing motivation; and (4) a growing view of English as a practical skill that was more important than mere academic achievement. The findings illustrated the dynamic relationship between personal motivation, socio-cultural influences, and technological engagement in shaping students' language learning journeys. The research concluded that recognizing and integrating students' narratives in teaching practices could increase learner engagement, encourage independence, and support more adaptive and empathic teaching strategies. These findings' implications were highly relevant for educators, curriculum developers, and policymakers to align English language teaching with the values and realities of Generation Z students.

Abstract

Kualitas penggunaan bahasa Indonesia dalam administrasi pendidikan mencerminkan tingkat profesionalisme lembaga. Penggunaan bahasa yang tidak baku dalam dokumen resmi dapat menurunkan citra institusi dan efektivitas komunikasi birokrasi. Kondisi tersebut ditemukan di SMKN 4 Banjarmasin, di mana masih banyak kesalahan mendasar dalam ejaan, diksi, serta struktur kalimat pada dokumen administrasi sekolah. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, tim pengabdian melaksanakan program “Bahasa Indonesia Cermin Profesionalisme: Pelatihan Penulisan Administrasi Baku bagi Staf SMKN 4 Banjarmasin”. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi staf dalam menulis administrasi yang sesuai dengan Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia (PUEBI) dan kaidah bahasa baku. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi ceramah, diskusi interaktif, praktik langsung, serta koreksi dokumen bersama. Peserta terdiri dari 30 staf administrasi yang terlibat langsung dalam penyusunan surat, laporan, dan dokumen resmi sekolah. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman peserta terhadap kaidah bahasa Indonesia baku, dengan lebih dari 70% responden menyatakan sangat setuju bahwa pelatihan relevan dan bermanfaat bagi pekerjaan administrasi. Peserta juga menunjukkan peningkatan ketelitian, kepercayaan diri, dan profesionalisme dalam penggunaan bahasa tulis. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan kebahasaan berbasis praktik efektif dalam memperkuat literasi administrasi, meningkatkan kualitas tata kelola lembaga, serta menumbuhkan kesadaran berbahasa sebagai bagian dari citra profesional. Program ini direkomendasikan untuk dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan di lingkungan pendidikan lainnya.
