Abstract

Purpose- This study aims to explore the innovative application of portfolio assessment in teaching Mahārah Qirā'ah at SDIT Salsabila Al Muthi'in Bantul, in order to improve students' reading skills and identify the benefits and challenges faced during the implication of this assessment. Design/Methodology/Approach- The research used a qualitative method with a case study design. Data are collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. This approach allowed for a deep dive into the implementation context and direct experience during the portfolio evaluation process in Arabic language learning. Findings- The innovative implementation of portfolio assessment was able to increase students' motivation, engagement, and encourage the development of critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills. Students can demonstrate progress in Arabic reading through structured activities, such as daily journaling, poster making, and story presentations. Clear rubrics help students to understand the teacher expectations and improve the quality of learning. Research Limitation/Implications- This research was limited to analyzing the innovation of the application of the Maharah Qira’ah portfolio in Arabic language subjects at the elementary school level without any field testing. However, this research serves as a reference in portfolio-based assessment in Arabic language learning.

Abstract

The form of tests or evaluations applied by teachers or educators in various educational institutions until now is still considered less interesting and tends to be monotonous so there is no intense interaction between educators and students in the evaluation process carried out. Often, students feel bored with ordinary tests or text forms that are rigid and monotonous, so there needs to be an update in the model or form of tests that are interactive, innovative, fun, and not boring for students. The purpose of this study is to find out various kinds of interactive Arabic test or quiz models that can be used in learning Arabic so that learning becomes more interesting and fun. This study uses literature research with a qualitative descriptive approach. Secondary data is used as a data source, with data collection techniques in the form of documentation. The result of this research is that there are various forms or models of interactive tests that can be utilized by teachers or Arabic instructors, either by developing their own using several computer-based applications or by utilizing website-based test or quiz applications that already exist on the Internet, where some of these applications can be accessed for free. These findings contribute to the current discussion about appropriate language assessment approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate the design of a semantic dictionary of Arabic sentence patterns in the Qur'an. The research also aims to complement research on existing Al-Qur'an Arabic dictionary designs, especially for Al-Qur'an Arabic lessons in Indonesia. This research is qualitative with a literature study approach. Where the research data were obtained from the primary reading sources of the Al-Qur'an and the book Mu'jam al-Furūq al-Dalāliyyah fī al-Qur'ān al-Karīm and then developed into dictionary designs. The results of the study show that the design of this semantic dictionary can be considered a book dictionary design that supports the understanding of a book through the presentation of the meaning of the vocabulary, syntax, and morphology recorded in the book. The design of the semantic dictionary of sentence patterns in the Qur'an that the researcher offers is by writing the column rows, numbers, names of surahs and verses, the sentence patterns that appear, and the text of the verses.

Abstract

Arabic language learning in Madrasah Tsanawiyah has implemented a communicative approach that emphasizes real language interaction. However, the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Arabic textbook for seventh grade does not provide assessment instruments that systematically assess the affective domain, so that students' progress in communication cannot be properly measured. This article aims to develop an affective assessment instrument that is integrated with the Ta'aruf material in the seventh grade Arabic textbook. This study uses a modified Borg & Gall Research and Development model, which includes the following stages: needs analysis, instrument design, expert validation, and product revision. The instruments developed are teacher observation sheets and student self-reflection sheets, which are compiled based on Krathwohl's affective taxonomy and a communicative approach. Expert validation was conducted by three validators consisting of two Arabic language education experts and one learning evaluation expert, with a Content Validity Index (CVI) result of 0.87, which is considered valid. This instrument is deemed suitable for use without requiring additional technical training for teachers, and is capable of helping to assess students' courage, self-confidence, cooperation, and respect in the communication process. Thus, this innovation has practical implications for teachers in applying authentic and sustainable affective assessment in the classroom, and can be developed in other chapters or further tested in field learning.
