Abstract

Kelurahan Pantai Amal merupakan salah satu wilayah di Kota Tarakan yang belum difasilitasi aliran gas alam oleh pemerintah Kota untuk memasak. Di Daerah ini pula LPG dan minyak tanah juga sulit diperoleh serta harga yang cukup tinggi. Permasalahan ini dirasakan oleh UMKM AR-Arihan yang berlokasi di Kelurahan Pantai Amal. UMKM yang bergerak dibidang pengolahan rumput laut menjadi makanan ringan ini membutuhkan kompor dengan bahan bakar alternatif untuk meringankan modal usaha yang dikeluarkan. Berangkat dari hal tersebut maka dilakukan pengabdian masyarakat yang terintegrasi riset yang telah merancang bangun kompor biomassa berbahan dasar Plat Galvanis dilengkapi dengan blower sebagai suplai oksigen pembakaran. Kompor kemudian menjadi solusi bagi permasalahan UMKM Ar Raihan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan energi alternatif dalam proses memasak olahan rumput laut.

Abstract

The model obtained in this study is expected to be able to describe the dynamics of the resources and processing of soybeans into tempeh. An understanding of the tempeh production process is obtained from direct observation and also from appropriate references. Furthermore, a petri net model and simulation of the tempeh production process was made with several assumptions that have been adjusted to the results of observations in the field. Obtained a petri net consisting of 14 places and 10 transitions. From the simulation results, must be reachable to reach the final state that has been determined with several assumptions.

Abstract

Industri pengolahan tahu dan tempe sudah mulai berkembang di Kalimantan Utara. Banyak industri yang dikembangkan dalam skala rumah tangga yang masih menggunakan cara-cara tradisional. Banyak hal yang perlu diteliti agar industri-industri tersebut dapat melakukan proses produksi dengan lebih efisien dan efektif serta terjamin kebersihannya dan juga terjamin pengelolaan limbahnya. Dari hasil penelitian sebelumnya, telah diperoleh informasi terkait langkah-langkah proses pembuatan tahu. Ada beberapa proses pengolahan yang masih dilakukan secara manual dan kurang higienis. Terkait hal tersebut, pada penelitian ini akan dibuat rancang bangun alat penyaring susu kedelai pada proses pembuatan tahu. Alat ini dapat digunakan di industri pengolahan tahu dan proses manual yang memiliki beberapa kekurangan bisa ditinggalkan.

Abstract

Dampak pandemi benar-benar mempengaruhi hampir seluruh sektror kemasyarakatan. Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan selama beberapa hari di setiap RT Kelurahan Karang Balik, masjid yang terletak di pinggir jalan protokol ramai dikunjungi tidak hanya oleh masyarakat sekitar. Banyak orang dari berbagai tempat dapat singgah dan beristirahat di sana. Sedangkan pada kantor Kelurahan Karang Balik, yang aktivitasnya cukup padat, pemantauan prokes terkadang tidak diindahkan oleh sebagian oknum. Dari hasil diskusi dengan beberapa pihak terkait, pada program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dibuat alat cuci tangan otomatis dan juga penyemprot desinfektan otomatis. Dua alat otomatis yang dibuat, dirancang dan di uji coba di Laboratorium Teknik Mesin, Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Borneo Tarakan. Setelah uji coba berhasil, kedua alat tersebut diserahkan ke pihak kelurahan untuk selanjutnya dipantau kegunaannya di lokasi sasaran. Keberadaan alat ini cukup membantu mengantisipasi dan mencegah terjadinya penyebaran virus Covid-19.

Abstract

Production tools play an important role in determining the quantity and price of products or services produced by business actors. With the availability of adequate production tools, micro, small and medium enterprises can increase the amount of production in a more efficient time. Apart from updating production tools to sophisticated and modern tools, appropriate technology is one solution that can be used to reduce production costs. This study aims to identify the extent to which micro, small and medium enterprises in Tarakan City understand and utilize appropriate technology in running their business. In this study, a study was carried out related to the means of production used by micro, small and medium enterprises in Tarakan City. In the initial stage, a survey was conducted on the use of production equipment currently in use. Observation of the effectiveness and efficiency of production equipment is the next stage in this study. The production tools used by micro, small and medium enterprises are still using traditional equipment. With traditional tools, they feel they are able to meet sales targets. Some micro business actors also seem unwilling to update production equipment because they are worried about the increase in production costs.

Abstract

One of the first steps in order to utilize ocean waves as electrical energy is to create a medium that can be a means of observing wave characteristics. In this research, a laboratory-scale flap model wave tank was designed. Wave tanks can minimize the use of time and cost in the development of technology that uses ocean waves as a source of energy. The purpose of this research is to design a wave tank with a flap model wave maker, and determine the length and height of the waves produced. This laboratory scale flap model wave tank has a size of 150 cm x 35 cm x 35 cm and uses an electric motor with a power of 200 Watts. The wave tank can work with 22 Watts of electric power and an electric motor rotation of 120 rpm. The maximum height of the waves generated from the laboratory-scale flap model wave tank is 4 cm, while the maximum measured wavelength is 36 cm with a volume of 15% water from the full capacity of the tank.

Abstract

Public consumption of bottled drinking water continues to increase. Single use plastic bottled water is still an option, this increases plastic waste. The main cause is that plastic cannot be decomposed so it has a bad impact on the environment. Plastic waste recycling has been done to reduce plastic waste but is still in low quantities. One of the recycling processes of plastic waste bottles can be utilized as composite materials. Composite consists of elements namely matrix and filler. In this study, the composite is composed of epoxy as a matrix and plastic bottle waste as a filler. The composition of the filler used ranges from 12.5%, 15%, 17.5%, 20%. The composite was made using the hand lay-up method. The composite that had been made was tested for hardness and impact to observe its mechanical properties. From the results of the research test, it was obtained that the greater the variation of the filler used, the lower the impact strength and hardness values. The highest impact strength was 1.02 J/mm2 Joule at a variation of 12.5%. The highest data results from the hardness test in this study were at a variation of 20% of 75.33 shore D.

Abstract

The processing of potato into fried potato sticks is one of the popular fastfood processing in Indonesia. One of the entrepreneurs in Tarakan City named Randi still uses manual tools to cut potatoes into the fried potato sticks, so the process is less efficient and effective. To solving this problem, it is necessary to create a potato stick cutting machine that is economically valuable. The purpose of this research is to design an potato stick machine. Based on the final design, the electric motor used is a single-phase AC gearbox motor with a power of 0.18 kW at 41.7 rpm, which is transmitted using a type B V-belt to the potato cutter. The test results of this potato stick cutting machine show a potato stick cutting capacity of 192.17 kg/hour with an electricity usage cost of Rp. 187.84/hour.

Abstract

Coconut fiber is one of the versatile natural materials with various applications in various industries. Coconut fiber is used in the manufacture of ropes, fabrics, and other textile products. This fiber is often used in the production of sacks, mats, and wickerwork. Coconut fiber can be used as a mixture in the manufacture of concrete and other building materials. Coconut fiber can also be used as a composite material. Composites consist of two elements, namely matrix and filler. This study aims to determine the effect of coconut fiber variations on impact strength and hardness. The composition of the filler is around 10, 15, 20 (%) of coconut fiber with matrix resin. The addition of filler is accompanied by a reduction in the matrix used from 100% epoxy. Specimens with NaOH treatment were made with 9 specimens and without treatment were made as many as 3 specimens. Composites were made by hand lay-up process. The composites that have been made were then subjected to mechanical tests, namely hardness and impact. The highest hardness test data results with NaOH treatment at variation (15%/85%) were 75 shore D. The lowest hardness at variation (10%/90%) was 63 Shore D. While without treatment the research results showed the highest at variation (10%/90%) was 74 Shore D. And the lowest hardness at variation (20%/80%) was 63 Shore D. The highest impact strength of NaOH treatment was at variation 20% absorbed energy of 3.28 Joules and impact toughness of 0.020 J/mm2. The highest untreated composite was at variation 20% absorbed energy 0f 3.39 Joules and impact toughness of 0.021 J/mm2.

Abstract

Pompa hidram (Hydraulic Ram Pump) merupakan pompa pemindah air dari tempat rendah ke tempat yang lebih tinggi atau dari tempat yang tidak terlalu tinggi ke tempat yang lebih tinggi. Prinsip kerja hidram adalah dari hantaman air yang kemudian mendorong air untuk ke tempat yang lebih tinggi. Untuk mendapatkan energi potensial dari hantaman air diperlukan syarat utama yaitu harus ada terjunan air yang dialirkan melalui pipa dengan beda tinggi elevasi dengan pompa hidram minimal 1 meter. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi diameter pipa inlet terhadap kinerja pompa hidram. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen rancang bangun pompa hidram. Pengaruh variasi diameter pipa inlet terhadap kinerja pompa hidram pada penilitian ini menggunakan 1 inci, 2 inci dan 21/2 inci. Dari penelitian didapatkan hasil debit discharge tertinggi pada pipa inlet 1 inci sebesar 6,028 , debit katup buang terendah didapatkan pada pipa inlet 1 inci sebesar 16,940 , dan efisiensi volumetris tertinggi 49,590% didapatkan pada diameter pipa inlet 1 inci.
