Abstract

This research aims to determine the implementation of the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) Learning Model in Improving Critical Thinking Ability in Science and Technology Learning at MI Nahdlatul Ulama Ngingas Waru Sidoarjo. This learning model can help teachers improve students' critical thinking skills and self-confidence, both in terms of expressing answers and opinions through problems with the material "People in My Region". This research was carried out at MINU Ngingas Waru Sidoarjo. This type of research is quantitative research. The research was conducted with two groups, namely the experimental class and the control class. The subjects of this research were classes IV A and IV B. The data collection techniques used were observation, test sheets, documentation. The data analysis techniques used are validity test, reliability test, normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test, and N-Gain Score test. The results of the research show the influence of the Problem Based Instruction (PBI) learning model on students' critical thinking abilities. This can be seen from the comparison of the average score for the experimental class pre-test of 58.03 and post-test of 73.75. Meanwhile, the pre-test for the control class was 44.48 and the post-test was 71.42. Apart from that, the validity test was declared valid, the reliability test for the experimental class was 0.784 and the control class was 0.897, the pre-test normality test for the experimental class reached 0.81 and the post-test reached 0.91, while the pre-test for the control class reached 0.65 and the post-test reached 0.78 which was declared normal, the homogeneity test reached 0.129, the hypothesis test reached 0.001, the N-gain test score for the experimental class reached 0.75 in the high category and the control class reached 0.33 in the medium category. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Implementasi Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI) dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berfikir Kritis Pembelajaran IPAS MI Nahdlatul Ulama Ngingas Waru Sidoarjo. Model  pembelajaran ini dapat membantu guru dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berfikir kritis peserta didik, rasa percaya diri, baik dalam hal mengemukakan suatu jawaban maupun pendapat melalui permasalahan dengan materi “Masyarakat di Daerahku”. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di MINU Ngingas Waru Sidoarjo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian yang dilakukan dengan dua kelompok yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kelas IV A dan IV B. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, lembar tes, dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji hipotesis, dan uji N-Gain Score. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Instruction (PBI) terhadap kemampuan Berfikir Kritis Peserta Didik. Hal tersebut terlihat dari perbandingan nilai rata-rata pre-test kelas eksperimen sebesar 58,03 dan post-test sebesar 73,75. Sedangkan pre-test kelas kontrol sebesar 44,48 dan post-test sebesar 71,42. Selain itu, uji validitas dinyatakan valid, uji reliabilitas kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,784 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,897, uji normalitas pre-test kelas eksperimen mencapai 0,81 dan post-test mencapai 0,91, sedangkan pre-test kelas kontrol mencapai 0,65 dan post-test mencapai 0,78 dinyatakan normal, uji homogenitas sebesar 0,129, uji hipotesis mencapai 0,001, uji N-gain score kelas eksperimen mencapai 0,75 dengan kategori tinggi dan kelas kontrol mencapai 0, 33 dengan kategori sedang.
