Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women remains a health problem that increases the risk of pregnancy complications, low birth weight, and stunting. Low adherence to iron supplementation (IBT) is one of the main causes of the high incidence of anemia, influenced by a lack of knowledge and family support. This community service activity aims to improve knowledge and adherence to iron supplementation through the Anemia Awareness Pregnant Women's Movement (Gentasari) program with a family-based educational approach. The program was implemented at the Saboking-king Community Health Center in Palembang, involving 30 pregnant women and their family companions. The methods used included participatory education, the formation of a Drug Swallowing Monitor (PMO) from family members, the use of the Gentasari Iron Supplementation Calendar, and mentoring and monitoring for one month. Evaluation was carried out using pre- and post-tests of knowledge and measurement of iron supplementation compliance through a control calendar and pill count method. The results showed that the average knowledge score increased significantly from 62.40 ± 8.12 to 86.13 ± 6.45 (p < 0.001). The percentage of pregnant women with high compliance increased from 13.3% to 76.7%, while low compliance decreased from 60.0% to 6.6%. The Gentasari program effectively increased knowledge and compliance with iron supplement consumption through active family involvement and has the potential to become a community-based intervention model for preventing anemia in pregnant women.

Abstract

Introduction: Anemia in pregnancy is a serious health problem for pregnant women that can increase the risk of postpartum hemorrhage, low birth weight, and fetal growth retardation. Low intake of foods that are sources of vitamin D causes low concentrations of vitamin D (25 Hydroxyvitamin D), which can increase hepcidin expression, thereby disrupting iron hemostasis which ultimately causes anemia in pregnant women. This study aims to determine the correlation between vitamin D levels and hemoglobin in anemia in pregnancy. Methods: This study used a case-control design with 68 pregnant women as respondents. Vitamin D levels were examined using 25 (OH) D levels and the ELFA method. Data on age, body mass index (BMI), frequency of pregnancy, education, and frequency of antenatal care visits were analyzed using the chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. Results: The results of the study show that the most significant proportion occurred in the age range of 20 – 35 years (84.5%), the majority of respondents had a normal body mass index (60.3%), respondents with a pregnancy frequency of 1-3 were 86.8%, most respondents had secondary education (63.2%), respondents who had regular prenatal visits amounted to 86.8%, the majority of respondent had a vitamin d insufficiency levels (48.5%). Bivariate analysis show revealed that significant influencing factors of anemia pregnancy were age (p=0.008), BMI (p=0.040), and frequency of ANC (p=0.012). There is no correlation between hemoglobin levels and vitamin D (p=0.707). Conclusion: This study did not correlate vitamin D levels and hemoglobin levels.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Air Susu Ibu (ASI) merupakan sumber nutrisi terbaik bagi bayi baru lahir dan berperan penting dalam menurunkan angka kesakitan serta kematian bayi. World Health Organization (WHO) merekomendasikan pemberian ASI eksklusif selama enam bulan pertama kehidupan sebagai standar emas nutrisi bayi.

Abstract

The period of infancy and toddler is an important period in the growth and development of children. It is very important for parents to know the child’s developments as a basis for knowing further developments. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of maternal knowledge on the interpretation of the results of KPSP children aged 0-24 months at BPM Sagita Darma Sari Palembang. The design of this research is quantitative descriptive with cross sectional approach with a sample of 88 respondents selected by purposive sampling. Data collection by questionnaire and processed by Spearman rank test. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between mother's knowledge and KPSP interpretation of children aged 0-24 months whose p value = 0,000 is smaller than a 0.05 (p va). Researchers recommend that health workers, especially at BPM Sagita Darma Sari Palembang to further enhance the early detection of child growth and development, so that if there is a delay in the development of children can take precautionary steps earlier.

Abstract

Stunting or short is a condition that describes the nutritional status of undernutrition that has a chronic nature during the growth and development of children from the beginning of life which is presented with a z-score of height for age less than minus two standard deviations based on growth standards according to the World Health Organization. Objective: to determine the relationship between family economic income and maternal education level on the incidence of stunting. This study uses an analytical study method with a cross sectional approach. The data instrument used in this study is a checklist sheet. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling technique. The number of samples in this study were 30 toddlers who met the criteria. Analysis of the data used in the form of univariate and bivariate. The results of this study indicate that of the 30 respondents who have been collected data, the results of the p value of 0.131 are the relationship between family economic income and the incidence of stunting. The relationship between maternal education and the incidence of stunting with a p value of 0.003 based on the results of the chi-square value. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between family economic income and the incidence of stunting, and there is a significant relationship between maternal education and the incidence of stunting.
