Abstract

Lung cancer patients often face significant psychosocial distress, negatively impacting their quality of life. To address this problem and equip patients with coping skills, the application of the concept of Theory of Unpleasant Symptoms (TOUS) has become a relevant assessment format. Ten cases of lung cancer patients managed by the Resident showed that EvidenceBased Nursing Practice (EBNP) interventions in the form of Mindfulness Loving-Kindness Meditation (MLKM) were effective in treating psychological distress. This intervention has been shown to significantly reduce levels of stress, anxiety, and depression in patients. Therefore, MLKM is recommended as an essential nursing intervention to help lung cancer patients cope with their psychological distress. Oncology nurses are advised to adopt the TOUS approach in managing lung cancer patients experiencing psychological problems, strengthening evidence-based nursing practices in holistic governance. Keywords: Lung Cancer, Psychological Distress, Loving Kindness Meditation, Discomfort Theory.

Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is often perceived as a traumatic event that demands adaptive capacity to survive and find new meaning after a difficult process. One adaptive mechanism is post-traumatic growth (PTG), which is positive psychological growth after experiencing trauma. The level of PTG in breast cancer patients varies and is influenced by multifactorial and complex psychosocial factors, including both internal and external factors. Purpose: To synthesize scientific evidence regarding psychosocial factors associated with post-traumatic growth in breast cancer patients. Method: This systematic literature review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines and the methodological framework of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). A comprehensive literature search was conducted in five electronic databases: ScienceDirect, PubMed, SpringerLink, Google Scholar, and Sage Journals. English-language research articles published within the last 10 years were selected based on predetermined inclusion criteria. Data were systematically extracted and synthesized using a narrative approach. Results: Ten studies were selected from 1,081 articles identified initially, involving a total of 2,464 breast cancer patients. Post-traumatic growth in breast cancer patients is influenced by the interaction between internal psychological factors and external social factors. Psychological factors associated with PTG include resilience, optimism, self-efficacy, locus of control, perceived stress, and coping strategies, while perceived social support emerged as the most significant external factor. Conclusion: PTG in breast cancer patients is formed through a psychosocial adaptation process influenced by both psychological factors and social support. These findings emphasize the importance of evidence-based nursing and psychosocial interventions to support psychological growth and quality of life in patients.   Keywords: Breast Cancer; Post-Traumatic Growth; Psychosocial Factors; Resilience; Social Support.

Abstract

Teens involved in the juvenile justice system are particularly vulnerable to anxiety disorders due to recurrent exposure to adverse experiences and lack of psychological support. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the efficacy and implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for reducing anxiety among justice-involved adolescents across diverse international contexts. Comprehensive searches were conducted across PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar for studies published up to August 2025 involving adolescents aged 10–18 with experience in juvenile justice settings. Cohort, quasi-experimental, randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and pre–post intervention designs were included, and methodological quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal tools. Ten studies across the US, Germany, Nigeria, Turkey, Thailand, China, and Sweden met the inclusion criteria. Most reported significant reductions in anxiety, particularly in group-based or trauma-focused CBT interventions. Protocol adherence, practitioner skill, and cultural adaptation were identified as critical success factors, while implementation challenges included resource limitations and staff turnover. In conclusion, CBT demonstrates robust potential as an effective and adaptable intervention for anxiety reduction among justiceinvolved youth, especially when culturally tailored and trauma-informed. Further studies should focus on long-term outcomes and context-specific adaptation for resource-limited settings such as Indonesia. Abstract

Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most frequent symptoms and has a significant impact on the quality of life of cancer patients. Accurate fatigue measurements require instruments that are valid and reliable, and appropriate to the cultural and linguistic context. Therefore, it is necessary to test the validity of the construct and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Cancer Fatigue Scale (CFS) before it is widely used. This study aims to test the validity of the construct and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Cancer Fatigue Scale (CFS) instrument in measuring fatigue in cancer patients. This study is an analytical descriptive research using a Cross Sectional design. This research was conducted at Darmais Cancer Hospital (RSKD). The number of samples was 220 people, with a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The instrument used in this study was the Cancer Fatigue Scale (CFS) as the core questionnaire. The data was analaysed to test realibility and validity of instruments CFS.   The results showed that all Indonesian version of CFS items had a total item–correlation value above the minimum acceptable limit (r > 0.30), indicating adequate construct validity. The reliability test showed Cronbach's alpha value of 0.824, which indicated good internal consistency. The Indonesian version of the Cancer Fatigue Scale has been proven to have good construct validity and reliability, making it suitable for use as an instrument for measuring fatigue in cancer patients in oncology nursing research and practice.
