Abstract

The research aimed to find out the improvement of the students‘ vocabulary mastery by using kahoot games applications that focused on verbs and nouns. The research applied pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. The sample of the research was the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 32 Sigi in academic year 2023/2024 which consisted of 29 students. The researcher used verbs and nouns of vocabulary test as instruments in pre-test and post-test. The research findings indicated that kahoot games application can improve students‘ vocabulary mastery. It was proved by the mean score of pre-test was 58.86 it classified as fair, post-test was 73.34, it classified as good and the improvement from pre-test to post-test was 24.60. Therefore there was the improvement of the students‘ vocabulary mastery. The result of improvement is also proved with t-test value. The researcher found that the value of t-test (7.352) was greater than t-table (2.048). This value means that there is a significant difference between the result of the students‘ pre-test and post test. The conclusion could be strengthened by stating the significance of the findings more clearly. e.g. "It was concluded that the use of the Kahoot games application can effectively improve the vocabulary mastery of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 32 Sigi.

Abstract

This research is to analyze short stories in teaching reading comprehension. This study was aimed at benefiting these readily used materials to improve the eighth graders’ reading comprehension of narrative texts. The study applied action research design since it opens the opportunity for teachers-practitioners to be involved in research. Based on the results of the students’ tests as well as their on-going assessments, it is found out that the students’ reading comprehension was gradually improving. It means that there was a positive effect of using Online Short Stories towards the students’ reading ability. The result shows that the combination of materials and worksheets that were implemented in both cooperative and individual learning had facilitated the students in improving their reading comprehension ability, as well as their social skills. Therefore, it is very important to implement this strategy to order to improve the students’ reading comprehension.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out whether the use of Duolingo apps as media in learning activity can improve students’ vocabulary of mastery or not. This research used pre-experimental design. The sample was 31 seventh grade students from SMP Negeri 4 Palu. Duolingo application was used as an instrument in this research. All the data gained in this research were analyzed by using Arikunto’s formula. The result shows that the use of Duolingo Application can improve students’ vocabulary mastery. Based on the calculation, the post-test mean score was 73,23 while the pre-test was 63,39. The result of statistical analysis showed that the value of t-counted (212,31) was higher than the value of t-table (1.697) with 0.05 level of significance of 30 (31-1) degree of freedom (df). The result indicated that the use of Duolingo application can improve students’ vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students SMP Negeri 4 Palu.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether or not implementing information transfer technique improves the reading comprehension of eleventh grade students. The researcher used a pre-experimental research design. The population of this study was the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 3 Palu, and the sample was the eleventh-grade social science IV which totaled 33 students. The researcher used a purposive sampling technique and adopted one group pre-test and post-test design. The pre-test is used to measure the students' reading comprehension before treatment, and the post-test is used to measure students' comprehension after treatment. The results of data analysis indicates that there is a significant difference of the students' achievement in pre-test and post-test. It shows that the mean score of the pre-test is 53.58 and the mean score of post-test is 82.27. The t-counted (15.76) is greater than the t-table (1.694) it means that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. In conclusion, implementing the information transfer technique improves reading comprehension of the eleventh grade students of SMAN 3 Palu.

Abstract

This research aims at solving the problem of low vocabulary mastery encountered by the class eight students of SMP Negeri 3 Banawa. The use of Kahoot, assisted by input enhancement techniques, was used to address this problem by attempting to increase vocabulary mastery of the students through a two-cycle Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The first cycle consisting of three meetings employed Kahoot, assisted by input enhancement technique with bolded, underlined modified texts, and the second cycle consisting of three meetings utilized Kahoot, assisted by input enhancement with highlighted, enlarged fonts of modified texts. Quantitative data from post-tests and qualitative data from field notes, observation sheets, interviews, and questionnaires were collected to evaluate student progress and engagement throughout the study. The criteria of success applied in this research is 75 or 70 % of the students achieved the passing grade. Result of post-test in the first cycle showed that only 23 % of the students achieved the passing grade. The data from observation and fieldnotes supported the finding that the plans needed to be revised, input manipulation changed and students were grouped. Findings from the intervention in the second cycle denotes that 73% of students achieving the passing grade (KKM) in vocabulary mastery. It means that the criteria of success were fulfilled. In addition, findings from qualitative data indicated the enhancement of student engagement, interaction, motivation, attention, and vocabulary retention. The research highlights the potential of Kahoot assisted by visual input enhancement techniques as a good teaching media to be utilized by teachers in increasing vocabulary mastery of EFL learners.

Abstract

Many junior high school students struggle with writing skills, particularly in composing procedural texts, which require the ability to organize ideas, use appropriate vocabulary and grammar, and understand text structure. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using visual media in enhancing students’ ability to write procedural texts. The research was conducted at MTs Negeri 4 Kota Palu with Grade IXB students as subjects, employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, implemented over two cycles. Data were collected through observation, interviews, field notes, and writing tests, and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The results show a significant improvement in students’ writing skills following the implementation of image-based instruction. In the first cycle, 57% of students met the Minimum Mastery Criterion (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal, KKM), which increased to 85% in the second cycle. Visual media proved effective in helping students comprehend content, logically sequence steps, and use imperative sentences more effectively. Additionally, the use of images enhanced student engagement, confidence, and learning motivation. The study concludes that integrating visual media, such as images, is an effective instructional strategy for developing procedural text writing skills. Practically, teachers are encouraged to incorporate visual media into writing instruction as an innovative approach that supports language development and classroom interaction.

Abstract

Fixed assets are one important element in financial statements. Handling of fixed assets that are not appropriate or not in accordance with PSAP 07 will have an effect on financial reporting. Improper handling of fixed assets due to still practicing a manual system, which allows for various problems in financial reporting. This study aims to design an information system for recording fixed assets to assist village officials in recording assets and for reporting fixed assets. The system designed in this research is Web-based, using PHP as a programming language. This study uses a case study method, data collection techniques in research conducted interviews, observations, and literature studies conducted directly with the village apparatus.
