<![CDATA[The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Palu can improve the students' writing skills or not; the researchers applied a quasi-experimental design which involved experimental class and control class. The population of this research was the eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 7 Palu. The researchers selected the sample by using a purposive sampling technique. The sample of this research was the students of XI 3(experimental class) and XI 1 (control class), which were both classes consisting of 32 students. The technique of data collection was tested (pre-test and post-test). The experimental class was treated by applying the CIRC method, while the method did not use by the control class. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. The researchers found a significant difference between the results of the experimental class. It was proved by applying the testing hypothesis. The researchers found that the t-counted (3.29) was higher than the t-table (2.001). It means that the hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, using the CIRC method effectively improves the writing skills of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Palu.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to find out students' perceptions on the use of Duolingo Application in learning grammar as an alternative media to students of SMA Negeri 1 Sindue Tombusabora. The subjects of this research were 26 tenth grade students of X MIPA1 SMA Negeri 1 Sindue Tombusabora. This type of research is a qualitative research method that describes the results of using Duolingo Application. The instruments used to collect data were interviews and questionnaires. The results of the data analysis show that the use of Duolingo Application in learning grammar has a positive perceptions on students. The results are also strengthened by the students’ perceptions that Duolingo Application was very positive for grammar learning. It can help the students learn about sentence structure, simple tenses, word class, and more. Most students responded that Duolingo Application motivated them to write sentences. The results of this research can be concluded that Duolingo Application has a positive effect on students in learning grammar.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this research is to prove that the Question-Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy is effective in improving reading comprehension of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Mepanga and to find out whether there was a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class in reading comprehension. The design of this research was quasi-experimental. The samples of this research consisted of 45 students who were selected by using cluster random sampling. The research instrument used to collect the data was a multiple-choice test which were divided into pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using statistical analysis. The result of the data analysis shows that there was a significant effect on students’ reading comprehension after the treatment by applying the QAR strategy. It indicated the mean score of both test results where the mean score of the experimental class significantly improved from 38.75 to 63.75. Meanwhile, the mean score of the control class is from 30.00 to 40.00. Based on the result of the data analysis, the researcher found that the value of t-counted is 7.36. By applying a degree of freedom (df) 43 (24 + 21 – 2) and 0.05 level of significance, the researchers found that the value of the t-table is 1.68. It means that the hypothesis is accepted because the value of t-counted (7.36) is higher than the t-table (1.68). To conclude, the QAR strategy is effective in improving reading comprehension of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Mepanga.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this research was to find out vocabulary learning strategies applied by the students and also the most frequently applied strategies. In this research, the researchers ought to find vocabulary learning strategies-based Schmitt’s taxonomy due to the fact that it is a comprehensive inventory of vocabulary learning strategies that covers all of strategies commonly applied by English learners. This research applied quantitative research method with survey approach. Population of this study was the whole of the seven grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Witaponda in academic year of 2021/2022. The subjects of this research were grade eight students in SMP Negeri 1 WitaPonda By quota sampling, the participants in this study were 5 representative students of each class which would be 30 in total. The instrument used in this research was questionnaire, based on Schmitt's (1997) taxonomy. Based on the findings, the researcher concludes that there are several strategies used by the students. They are 1) using electronic dictionary to know the meaning of the word, 2) using Indonesian-English dictionary, 3) connecting one word to word related with it, 4) seeing description in text to explain meaning of a word, 5) labeling English word on object for helping them to remember vocabulary. The second conclusion is the most dominant strategies used by the students is determination strategies.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of the research is to determine if using Partner Reading Strategy can improve reading comprehension of grade eight students of SMPN 2 Tanantovea. This research was conducted through a quasi experimental research design in which the sample of the research was selected using a simple random sampling technique. This research used a reading comprehension test as the instrument. The data collection of this research were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference between two groups on the posttest after the treatment using Partner Reading Strategy given to the experimental group. It was found that the mean scores of both the experimental and control groups on the posttest were respectively 70 and 42. Furthermore, referring to the ttable value of df 44 (23+23-2) by applying 0.05 level of significance on one-tailed test, it was found that the tcounted value of this research (16) was higher than the ttable value (1.7). It implies that using Partner Reading Strategy can improve reading comprehension of grade eight students of SMPN 2 Tanantovea]]>

<![CDATA[The reading comprehension of class X1 students at MA Alkhairaat Biromaru. This research uses a quasi-experimental design by applying a nonequivalent control group design. The population was class X1 students at MA Alkhairaat Biromaru consisting of 30 students from two classes. The sample is class IPA as the experimental group and class IPS as the control group. Sample selection was carried out in total. Tests are used to collect data consisting of pre-test and post-test. The test results show that the average pre-test score obtained by the experimental group is 40.47, while the mea pre-test score obtained by the control group is 43.53. Then, the average post-test score for the experimental group is 86.68, while the control group is 67.13; the t-calculated value (4.28) was higher than the t-table value (1.70), which means that the hypothesis was accepted. The T-test tests determine the significance and relevance between two groups of unpaired samples. Based on the research results, using Story Mapping can improve the reading comprehension of class X1 students at MA Alkhairaat Biromaru.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to find out whether the application of descriptive text is effective in improving the writing skills of grade 8 (eight) students at SMP Negeri 18 Sigi. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. This population is students in class 8 (eight) of Sigi State Middle School, consisting of 100 people. Sample selection was carried out in total. The test was used to collect data consisting of a pre-test and post-test. The test results showed that the average pre-test score obtained was 59.58. After carrying out the post test the results showed that there were 85% of students who were competent and 15% who were not competent. Increasing students' abilities means that the application of descriptive text to grade 8 (eight) students at SMP Negeri 18 Sigi was declared successful.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed to discover students’ perception of using YouTube as a Media for Learning and factors that can contribute to the use of YouTube as a learning media. Qualitative descriptive are used. The subjects of this research were 30 students of class X 7. Questionnaires and interviews were applied to collect data. The questionnaire consists of 30 questions; interviews were conducted as supporting data. Based on data analysis, data from the questionnaire shows that most students agree with the use of YouTube as a medium for learning English. Learning to use YouTube also gives students new experiences in learning and can overcome boredom in monotonous learning. The interview results also showed that students were happy and gained new experiences by using YouTube as a learning medium. The conclusion can be drawn that students agree that using YouTube can overcome boredom in class, increase interest in learning and gain new experiences]]>

<![CDATA[The research aimed to find out the improvement of the students‘ vocabulary mastery by using kahoot games applications that focused on verbs and nouns. The research applied pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. The sample of the research was the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 32 Sigi in academic year 2023/2024 which consisted of 29 students. The researcher used verbs and nouns of vocabulary test as instruments in pre-test and post-test. The research findings indicated that kahoot games application can improve students‘ vocabulary mastery. It was proved by the mean score of pre-test was 58.86 it classified as fair, post-test was 73.34, it classified as good and the improvement from pre-test to post-test was 24.60. Therefore there was the improvement of the students‘ vocabulary mastery. The result of improvement is also proved with t-test value. The researcher found that the value of t-test (7.352) was greater than t-table (2.048). This value means that there is a significant difference between the result of the students‘ pre-test and post test. The conclusion could be strengthened by stating the significance of the findings more clearly. e.g. "It was concluded that the use of the Kahoot games application can effectively improve the vocabulary mastery of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 32 Sigi.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is to analyze short stories in teaching reading comprehension. This study was aimed at benefiting these readily used materials to improve the eighth graders’ reading comprehension of narrative texts. The study applied action research design since it opens the opportunity for teachers-practitioners to be involved in research. Based on the results of the students’ tests as well as their on-going assessments, it is found out that the students’ reading comprehension was gradually improving. It means that there was a positive effect of using Online Short Stories towards the students’ reading ability. The result shows that the combination of materials and worksheets that were implemented in both cooperative and individual learning had facilitated the students in improving their reading comprehension ability, as well as their social skills. Therefore, it is very important to implement this strategy to order to improve the students’ reading comprehension.]]>
