Abstract

Many students have not mastered the Indonesian language well, as evidenced by their daily test scores, which mostly fall in the middle to lower categories. This phenomenon is intriguing to explore in the context of improving student learning achievement. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of the learning environment on Indonesian language learning achievement, with reading interest as the mediator. This research employs a quantitative method with a population of 815 students who have taken the Indonesian language course. With a margin of error of 5%, the sample size selected is 262 students. The analysis is conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The research findings indicate that Indonesian language learning achievement improves due to the positive influence of the school environment and reading motivation, which contributes to students' reading interest. Reading interest has been proven to mediate the influence of the school environment on learning achievement. The implications of this study are that a conducive learning environment and collaboration among teachers, parents, and the community are crucial to support students in reaching their maximum potential. This also impacts the enhancement of students' reading interest and learning achievement.

Abstract

Masalah keterampilan menulis naratif pada siswa dapat timbul dari beberapa penyebab. Salah satunya yaitu siswa kurang memahami tentang struktur dan ciri-ciri teks narasi. Siswa juga kesulitan untuk membangun alur cerita yang jelas, karakter yang kuat, atau konflik yang menarik dalam tulisan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan menulis teks naratif dengan menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran TTW melalui penggunaan video peristiwa sebagai media pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Populasi yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII yang berjumlah 20 orang. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, tes, dan wawancara. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data yaitu lembar kuesioner. Teknik analisis daa menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran TTW dan pemanfaatan media video peristiwa terbukti berhasil dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran menulis teks naratif. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah memberikan kontribusi pada pemahaman dan pengetahuan mengenai prosedur yang diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis naratif dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran TTW. Disarankan agar siswa berlatih mengajukan pertanyaan tentang materi yang belum dipahami dan untuk berpartisipasi secara aktif dalam kegiatan kelompok.

Abstract

This community service program was designed to enhance the professionalism of Accounting Service Offices (KJA) in Malang through training in communication skills and ethical understanding. The program aims to make a significant contribution to improving service quality, maintaining integrity, and supporting the economic development of the community. The community partners comprised professionals from KJA, with the training conducted over three months, involving interdisciplinary lecturers for a holistic approach. The training methods included delivering fundamental materials through seminars, demonstrations and simulations, as well as evaluations and mentoring. Data collection employed a quantitative approach using questionnaires and a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews. Quantitative results revealed that 80% of participants experienced significant improvement in communication skills, while 70% reported enhanced ethical understanding, positively impacting workplace relationships and the professional image of the office. Qualitative findings supported these results, highlighting that the training enhanced participants' ability to make ethical decisions and build harmonious workplace relationships. This program demonstrates that training in communication skills and ethics is a strategic investment to enhance organizational professionalism and integrity. These findings are relevant to strengthening professional services in the service sector and fostering a productive work culture, providing long-term benefits for individuals and organizations.

Abstract

Early literacy is a fundamental foundation in the cognitive and language development of young children. However, many children still face difficulties in recognizing letters, understanding vocabulary, and constructing simple sentences. The Belajar Bahasa dan Sastra itu Seru (BeBaSaRu) program was designed as a community engagement initiative to enhance early literacy skills through an interactive and engaging approach. This program aims to develop young children's reading, writing, and storytelling abilities while also strengthening the role of teachers and parents in literacy stimulation. The methods used in this program include a participatory approach that involves teacher training, parental education, and the implementation of phonemic games, storytelling, shared reading, and creative writing activities. The results indicate that the program effectively improved children's vocabulary, story comprehension, storytelling skills, and basic writing abilities. Moreover, it increased children's interest in reading and reinforced the active involvement of teachers and parents in supporting literacy development. The implications of this study suggest that interactive literacy teaching methods can be adapted to various educational settings, including schools with limited resources. The sustainability of this program requires support from multiple stakeholders to ensure that its approaches continue to be effectively implemented in early childhood literacy education.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is an essential skill in education, yet it remains a challenge for many students in Indonesia. The low level of reading comprehension ability is often caused by the lack of instructional strategies that emphasize higher-order thinking skills. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing Barrett’s Taxonomy in improving the reading comprehension skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 11 Malang. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis & McTaggart model, consisting of two cycles. The participants were seventh-grade students, with data collected through pre-tests, post-tests, observations, and interviews. Data analysis was conducted using quantitative (t-test and effect size) and qualitative (thematic analysis) approaches. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension after implementing Barrett’s Taxonomy, particularly in inferential, evaluative, and appreciative comprehension. The t-test results showed a significant increase in post-test scores compared to pre-test scores (t = 6.89, p < 0.05), with an effect size of 1.24, indicating a substantial impact on reading comprehension. Furthermore, observations and interviews revealed that this strategy enhanced students’ engagement in reading activities. In conclusion, Barrett’s Taxonomy is effective in improving reading comprehension skills and can serve as an alternative strategy for teachers to develop higher-order thinking skills in reading instruction.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, education plays a crucial role in instilling intercultural values in children; however, the lack of systematic approaches remains a major challenge. This study aims to formulate effective literature-based literacy strategies for developing intercultural values, evaluate their impact, and identify challenges and opportunities in their implementation. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, this research analyzes the implementation of literature-based literacy strategies through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, document analysis, and questionnaires involving students, teachers, and literary materials used in learning. The findings indicate that this strategy is effective in enhancing students' understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity, improving social interactions, and fostering empathy toward different cultural perspectives. The analysis of questionnaire data using a Likert scale reveals a significant increase in students’ attitudes toward intercultural values after participating in the program. Additionally, selecting relevant literary materials and providing adequate teacher training are key factors in the successful implementation of this strategy. Therefore, this study recommends integrating literature-based literacy into children's educational curricula to foster a more inclusive and tolerant cultural understanding.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi representasi etika profesional dan strategi wacana yang digunakan dalam narasi laporan keuangan sektor publik, khususnya dalam Laporan Kinerja Instansi Pemerintah (LKjIP) dan Laporan Keuangan Pemerintah Daerah (LKPD) Kota Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis wacana kritis. Sampel data berupa dokumen LKjIP dan LKPD tahun 2021–2022 dipilih secara purposive, dengan mempertimbangkan relevansi isi dan aksesibilitas publik. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dokumentasi dan studi literatur. Variabel penelitian meliputi representasi etika profesional, struktur narasi, dan diksi yang digunakan dalam laporan. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan kategorisasi elemen linguistik, identifikasi pola representasi aktor dan tanggung jawab, serta interpretasi berdasarkan kerangka teori wacana dan etika profesional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa narasi laporan cenderung menonjolkan keberhasilan melalui penggunaan diksi positif, sementara kegagalan disampaikan secara pasif dan impersonal, yang berpotensi menyamarkan tanggung jawab institusional. Strategi penghindaran tanggung jawab umumnya disampaikan melalui rujukan terhadap faktor eksternal seperti kendala anggaran atau regulasi pusat. Temuan ini mengindikasikan adanya ketidaksesuaian antara prinsip etika profesional dan praktik naratif yang dijalankan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pedoman naratif yang tidak hanya memenuhi standar administratif, tetapi juga menjamin integritas dan akuntabilitas dalam komunikasi publik. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pelatihan etika dan komunikasi naratif bagi penyusun laporan keuangan sektor publik serta membuka peluang studi lanjutan berbasis korpus digital atau lintas wilayah

Abstract

The progress of science and technology has pushed the writing of literary works into a world without boundaries known as cyber literature. Cyber literature tries to answer the challenges of modernization by becoming a space for imaginative expression. Everyone can express their ideas and imagination on cyber literature. Cyber literature is an interesting medium to study through critical reading activities. At the tertiary level, critical reading skills are raised in the CPL Study Program. In the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Wisnuwardhana University, the CPL Study Program is revealed in Literature CPL – MK which can be integrated with cyber literary media and critical reading skills. The Literary MKs are Literary Theory and Aesthetics, Fictional Prose, and Fictional Prose Appreciation. Learning to read critically using cyber literature can be grouped into six structured activities, namely (1) interpreting, (2) analyzing, (3) reasoning, (4) evaluating, (5) explaining, and (6) self-managing. The six activities are a gradual and continuous series.

Abstract

Student academic achievement is important in education. Low achievement hinders progress and future opportunities. Research shows that factors such as low motivation and mismatched learning models have a negative impact. Learning models play a role in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. Understanding these factors is essential to iimprove the iquality iof ieducation. This study evaluates ithe influence iof learning models, student motivation, and their interaction on learning outcomes. Findings indicate that learning models have a isignificant iinfluence ion istudent ilearning ioutcomes. Additionally, student motivation also plays a crucial role in achieving good learning outcomes. The iinteraction ibetween learning imodels iand student motivation also significantly affects ilearning ioutcomes. The implication is that it is important to select the appropriate learning models and enhance student motivation to improve learning outcomes. Further research can explore in more detail the interaction and effects of these factors on student learning outcomes.
