Abstract

The aim of this study was to monitor the condition of water quality in the aquaculture area of fix net cage culture system (KJT) at Lake Tondano, Eris Village, Eris District, Minahasa Regency which included temperature, pH, DO, TDS, Turbidity, NO2, NH3, PO4  and sediment (N, Nitrogen and P, Phosphorus) in  a different time. This research was conducted from March to May 2021 using a survey method. The research activities consisted of direct measurements in the field (in situ) using a Horiba U-5000G instrument and laboratory analysis (ex situ) at the BTKLPP Class 1 Laboratory and the BARISTAND Laboratory in Manado for primary data. Primary data was carried out at 3 points, Point 1 represented around residential activities, Point 2 where the areas of cultivation activities, and Point 3 where outside of cultivation and settlement activities. Primary data was compared with secondary data i.e, publish articles and then processed in the STORET method. Data were evaluated to the water quality parameters standard according to the Indonesian Government Regulation number 22 of 2021. The results showed that the water temperature ranged between 26.3 - 28.07 0C, Turbidity (10.5 - 24.4 NTU), TDS (0.167 - 0.172 g/L), pH (3.79 - 7.84), DO (1.87 - 9.05 mg/L), NH3 (0.12 - 0.26 mg/L) , NO2 (0.001 - 0.064 mg/L), PO4 (0.2 mg/L - 1.67 mg/L). In the sediment samples, N was found in the  ranged of 0.20% - 0.26% and  P (0.48% - 2.69%). It can be concluded, the condition of water quality in the aquaculture area using KJT in Eris Village is categorized as class C (medium polluted) and N in the sediment criteria is moderate and the content of P in the sediment criteria is very low.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the growth of Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed which was cultivated vertically using strings. The method is the use of the longline method vertically using strings. The experimental design was a completely randomized design with 3 treatments, namely different depths, and each treatment carried out 20 repetitions. Cultivation was carried out for 45 days, where seaweed growth measurements were carried out every 14 days. The highest absolute growth was in treatment A (2,675 grams) followed by treatment B (2,660 grams), treatment C (2480 grams). The highest daily growth rate was treatment B (6.79%) followed by treatment A (6.77%) and treatment C (6.55%). Furthermore, the results of the analysis showed that the absolute growth in treatments A and B was different from treatment C, as well as the daily growth rate which gave a very significant effect, where treatments A and B were very different from treatment C.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the optimal density of kale plants as biofilter in an aquaponic system that can trigger the highest growth and survival of tilapia. The experiment was designed in a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications so that there were 9 experimental units. The factor tested was the different density of kale plants as biofilter in the aquaponics system, where treatment A: 6 kale plants/0,24m2, B: 12 kale plants/0,24m2, and  K: without kale plants (as control). This study was conducted for 28 days.  Collected data  included weight, length and number of fish, which were then converted to  absolute growth rate (weight and length) , daily growth rate, survival rate and kale plant growth. Data  were analyzed using ANOVA  and then Least Significance Differences (LSD) for  further analysis.   The results  showed that the different density of  kale plants had no significant effect on absolute growth rate (weight and  length)  and daily growth rate, but had a significant effect on the survival rate of fish. The LSD results  showed that density of 6 kale plants/0,24m2 (A) were not significantly different from that of 12 individuals kale plants/0,24m2 (B), but both treatments were significantly different from the control (K).  The range of ammonia  was between 0.29 – 0.91 mg/l, nitrite 0.55 – 1.06 mg/l, and nitrate 10 - 47 mg/l.

Abstract

Udang vanname (Litopenaeus vannamei) merupakan salah satu komoditas unggulan sektor perikanan budidaya nasional. Salah satu komponen strategi produksi budidaya intensif yang harus sering diperhatikan adalah nilai konversi pakan udang vanname. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis average daily growth (ADG), survival rate (SR) dan feed conversion ratio (FCR) udang vanname di CV.Sinar Limunga Desa Iyok, Kecamatan Bolangitang Barat, Kabupaten Bolaang Mongondow Utara, Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus terhadap tambak intensif udang vanname dengan masa budidaya Januari-Maret 2023. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemeliharaan udang vanname selama 107 hari di tambak intensif dengan luas 1600 m2 menghasilkan udang dengan populasi akhir 181.780 ekor, berat udang rata-rata 22,7 gram, size 45 ekor/kg, SR 80%, biomassa 2.920 kg, pakan 3.212 kg dan FCR 1,1. Abstract

This research aimed to determine the growth of snakehead fries t reared in aquaponic media and fed commercial fish food. The treatments consisted of treatment A with a protein content of 40%, B with a protein content of 35%, and C with a protein content of 30%, each with three replications. The research was conducted for 32 days. The research found the absolute growth of treatment a was 1.34 g, treatment b was 0.775 g, and treatment C was 0.605 g. The daily growth rate for treatment a was 4.18%, treatment b 2.42%, and treatment C 1.89%. Linear regression analysis between protein content in food and growth weight of snakehead fish fry had a strong relationship to both absolute growth and specific growth rate. The higher the protein content, the higher the weight growth of snakehead fry. Keywords: snakehead fish, aquaponic, commercial food, protein

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the seaweed production in North Sulawesi Province in 2023 and to find out the technical and non-technical factors that affect Eucheuma production in North Sulawesi. Data were collected by a survey through questionnaires, from existing records at related institutions as well as direct interviews with the farmers.  The results showed that the total Eucheuma production in North Sulawesi Province in 2023 only came from the production in North Minahasa Regency, namely Nain Village as much as 473.76 tons,  Nain Satu was 234.36 tons and Mantehage II Tangkasi  was 131.4 tons. Thus, the total seaweed production for North Sulawesi province for 2023 was  839.52 tons. Technical and non-technical factors that influenced production were the lack quality of seaweed seeds, polluted sea waters, unpredictable weather, pests and disease attacks that have not been resolved, lack of adequate cultivation facilities and infrastructure, lack of qualified human resources (HR), limited capital and seaweed prices. Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of NaOH and KOH on carrageenan. The addition of natural dyes was carried out with different concentrations of carrageenan and the value of viscosity and gel strength of the algae Kappaphycus alvarezii to a mixture of natural dyes. The samples of algae were taken from the cultivation area in Belang waters, Southeast Minahasa Regency. The results of this study on the addition of natural dyes in refined carrageenan have succeeded in giving a green color and did not affect the viscosity and gel strength of the carrageenan gel when compared to the control (without treatment). The viscosity value of carrageenan with 4% NaOH concentration was 53.34-53.69 cP and KOH concentration was 49.55-50.03 cP. The gel strength value at 4% NaOH concentration was 74.11-74.89 mm/g/sec, while at 5% KOH concentration it was 84.22-84.89 mm/g/sec. The viscosity and gel strength still meet standards set by the Food Agriculture Organization (FAO).Keywords: Carrageenan, natural dye, Kappaphycus alvarezii, viscosity, gel strengthAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh NaOH dan KOH terhadap karagenan. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan penambahan pewarna alami dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda terhadap refined carrageenan dan nilai viskositas serta kekuatan gel karagenan dari alga Kappaphycus alvarezii terhadap campuran pewarna alami. Sampel alga diambil dari area budidaya di Perairan Belang, Kabupaten Minahasa Tenggara. Hasil penelitian tentang penambahan pewarna alami pada refined carrrageenan telah berhasil memberikan warna hijau dan tidak mempengaruhi viskositas serta kekuatan gel karagenan jika dibandingkan dengan kontrol (tanpa perlakuan). Nilai viskositas karagenan dengan konsentrasi NaOH 4% adalah 53,34 – 53,69 cP dan konsentrasi KOH 5% sebesar 49,55 – 50,03 cP. Nilai kekuatan gel pada konsentrasi NaOH 4% sebesar 74,11-74,89 mm/g/det, sedangkan pada konsentrasi KOH 5% diperoleh 84,22-84,89 mm/g/det. Viskositas dan kekuatan gel tersebut masih memenuhi standar yang ditetapkan oleh Food Agriiculture Organization (FAO).Kata kunci: Karagenan, pewarna alami, Kappaphycus alvarezii, viskositas, kekuatan gel

Abstract

Kappaphycus alvarezii is a marine alga cultivated in Indonesia and produces carrageenan. Carrageenan is a product used in the cosmetic, food, and pharmaceutical industries. This study aimed to test the viscosity and gel strength of refined carrageenan with the addition of natural dye phycoerythrin from the algae Halymenia durvillei with different concentrations. Refine carrageenan was made using alkaline solvents of 4% NaOH and 5% KOH and then boiled using a pressure cooker. The results showed a reddish color change in the pure carrageenan refinement with the addition of phycoerythrin pigment, especially at a concentration of 50%. The average value of refined carrageenan viscosity for 4% NaOH concentration was 49.22 – 50.27 cP, and 5% KOH concentration ranged from 47.16 – 50.12 cP. Testing the gel strength of the refined carrageenan, the average NaOH 4% was 72.67 – 82.00 mm/g/sec, and the 5% KOH concentration was 81.00 – 81.78 mm/g/sec. The addition of phycoerythrin pigment to refine carrageenan had no effect on viscosity and gel strength. Drying at a temperature of 100oC obtained a water content of semi-refined carrageenan between 2.91 - 4.38%, this value is in accordance with the standard for carrageenan water content from FAO, which is a maximum of 12%.Keywords: Carrageenan, phycoerythrin pigments, Kappaphycus alvarezii, Halymenia durvillei, viscosity, gel strength.AbstrakKappaphycus alvarezii merupakan alga laut yang dibudidayakan di Indonesia dan penghasil karagenan. Karagenan merupakan suatu produk yang digunakan dalam industri kosmetik, makanan, dan juga farmasi. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah menguji viskositas dan kekuatan gel terhadap karagenan refine yang ditambahkan pigmen fikoeritrin dari alga Halymenia durvillei dengan perbedaan konsentrasi. Karagenan refine dibuat dengan menggunakan pelarut alkali NaOH 4% dan KOH 5% selanjutnya direbus dengan tekanan tinggi. Hasil yang didapat menunjukan bahwa terjadi perubahan warna kemerahan pada karagenan refine dengan penambahan pigmen fikoeritrin, terutama pada konsentrasi 50%. Nilai rata-rata viskositas karagenan refine untuk konsentrasi NaOH 4% adalah 49.22 – 50.27 cP, dan konsentrasi KOH 5% berkisar 47.16 – 50.12 cP. Pengujian kekuatan gel pada karagenan refine diperoleh rata-rata NaOH 4% sebesar 72.67 – 82.00 mm/g/det dan konsentrasi KOH 5% adalah 81.00 – 81.78 mm/g/det. Penambahan pigmen pada karagenan refine tidak berpengaruh pada viskositas dan kekuatan gel. Pengeringan dengan suhu 100OC memperoleh kadar air pada karagenan semi refine antara 2.91 - 4.38%, nilai tersebut telah sesuai dengan standar kadar air karagenan dari FAO yaitu maksimum 12%.Kata kunci: Karagenan, pigmen fikoeritrin, Kappaphycus alvarezii, Halymenia durvillei, viskositas, kekuatan gel.

Abstract

The brightness and high color saturation determine the selling price of ornamental goldfish. Color saturation is the color intensity visible to the naked eye from the appearance of goldfish. Caulerpa racemosa seaweed contains β-carotene, a type of carotenoid that is a red, yellow, and orange pigment. The research aimed to determine the effectiveness of adding C. racemosa flour to artificial goldfish (Carrasius auratus) feed. The experimental design used was three treatments of adding C. racemosa flour to artificial feed, namely 0%, 1%, and 1.5%. The experiment was carried out for 45 days with intensive fish care in an aquarium. Observation of color intensity using M-TCF (toca color finder) at the beginning and end of the study by three panelists. The results showed that increasing the color saturation of goldfish with the addition of 1.5% C. recomosa seaweed flour gave the best results. Caulerpa racemosa; Carrasius auratus; artificial feed; carotenoids; M-TCF. Abstrak Nilai jual ikan hias mas koki salah satunya ditentukan oleh kecerahan dan tingginya saturasi warna. Saturasi warna merupakan intensitas warna yang secara kasat mata tampak dari performans ikan mas koki. Rumput laut Caulerpa racemosa mengandung β-karoten yaitu jenis karotenoid yang merupakan zat pigmen warna merah, kuning dan jingga. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui efektifiktas tepung C. racemosa yang ditambahkan pada pakan artifisial untuk ikan mas koki (Carrasius auratus). Rancangan percobaan yaitu 3 perlakuan penambahan tepung C. racemosa pada pakan artifisial: 0%, 1%, dan 1,5%. Percobaan dilakukan selama 45 hari dengan perawatan ikan secara intensif dalam akuarium. Pengamatan intensitas warna menggunakan M-TCF (toca color finder) pada warna awal dan warna akhir penelitian oleh 3 panelis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan saturasi warna ikan mas koki dengan penambahan tepung rumput laut C. recomosa sebanyak 1,5% memberikan hasil terbaik. Abstract

Tributiltin (TBT) is an organotin compound that is still widely used as a toxic biocidal additive in antifouling paints. These compounds are classified as pollutants that are very difficult to decompose in waters. The test of the concentration of TBT in seawater was carried out at the WLN Laboratory (Water Laboratory Nusantara) Manado. Nitrate, nitrite and ammonia concentration tests were carried out at the Laboratory of the Manado Industrial Service and Standardization Center (BSPJI). Measurement of the physical and chemical parameters of seawater used: Temperature, Brightness, pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Salinity and Turbidity in situ. Analysis of the concentration of Tributiltin (TBT) compounds in seawater in the waters of the Lembeh Strait in the cultivation areas of Point 1 (Tanjung Rarandam), Point 2 (Kalapa Dua), Point 3 (Papusungan) in the Lembeh Strait showed a concentration of <0.01 μg/L, which is still in the safe range below the standard limit of seawater quality for biota (0.01 μg/L). Measuring water quality in the Lembeh Strait aquaculture area, the DO value ranges from 7.83-8.34 ppm. Salinity values ranged from 30.99-31.24 ppt. The pH value ranges from 9.37-9.42. The temperature value ranges from 27.87-27.69 °C. The brightness value ranges from 3.12 m-3.39 m. The turbidity value ranged from 0.63-1.22. The nitrate value of 1.98-2.19 mg/L, far exceeding the limit set (0.06 mg/L) for marine life, indicates a potential risk to the ecosystem. The concentration of Nitrite in the waters is still in accordance with the general water standards, ranging from <0.005 mg/L to 0.02 mg/L. The concentration of Ammonia is below the water quality standard threshold at all points of 0.3 mg/L, which is still safe for marine life and aquaculture activities in these waters in accordance with the seawater quality standards in Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 Attachment VIII concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management.
