Abstract

The research purposes were to determine the best initial weight of Caulerpa lentillifera algae, determine the appropriate cultural operational depth for the best growth of C.lentillifera algae, and determine the interaction between the initial weight factor of C.lentillifera algae and the depth factor of growth. This research was carried out from May to July 2023. The C. lentillifera algae in this research were obtained from nature. C.lentillifera algae culture is carried out using the verticulture method, namely tying the algae to strings arranged in a row. This research was designed using a 3x3 factorial in a Completely Randomized Design (RAL). There are 2 factors tested in this experiment, each of which has 3 levels, namely: the weight factor of C. lentillifera algae which consists of: A1 = 50 grams, A2 = 100 grams and A3 = 150 grams, and the depth factor which consists of: B1 = 20 cm, B2 = 70 cm and B3 = 120 cm. The results obtained from this research are that differences in the growth of C. lentillifera algae are very significantly influenced by differences in the initial weight of different. The best absolute growth, relative growth, and daily growth rate were initial C. lentillifera algae weights of 50 grams, which respectively had the highest average values of 24.3 grams, 16.2%, and 1.4%. Differences in depth had no significant influence on differences in absolute growth, relative growth, and daily growth rate of the algae C. lentillifera. The results of variance analysis showed that the influence of the weight factor of C. lentillifera on absolute growth, relative growth, and daily growth rate did not change significantly when the depth factor level was changed. Abstract

Goldfish (Carassius auratus L.) is a freshwater ornamental fish commodity whose economic value is largely determined by its body color quality. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of fermented Spirulina sp. powder supplementation on the growth performance and color brightness of goldfish. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments (A: 0%, B: 3%, C: 6%, and D: 9% fermented spirulina) and three replications. Microalgae fermentation was carried out using baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) for 48 hours to increase nutrient bioavailability. The results showed that the highest absolute growth was obtained in treatment D (3.43 g), but statistically, there was no significant difference (P>0.05) across all treatments. The feed conversion ratio (FCR) showed the best efficiency at the 9% dose (0.66). For the color parameter, the best consistent brightness increase was produced by treatment B (3% dose). In conclusion, 3-6% fermented spirulina supplementation is recommended to maintain the balance between somatic growth and color pigment quality in goldfish. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effects of initial seed weight and cultivation depth on the growth of Caulerpa lentillifera in a vertical culture system using monofilament nylon rope as the planting medium in the coastal waters of Bahoi Village, North Minahasa. A 3×3 factorial design was applied, consisting of three initial weights (50 g, 100 g, and 150 g) and three depths (20 cm, 70 cm, and 120 cm), each with three replications. Observed parameters included absolute growth and specific growth rate (SGR) over a 28-day cultivation period. The results indicated that initial weight significantly affected growth, whereas depth had no significant effect and no interaction was detected between the two factors. The 50 g treatment produced the highest growth performance with an SGR of 1.39 ± 0.08% day⁻¹, which falls within the productivity range of tropical open-sea farming systems. These findings highlight that optimizing seed weight plays a more critical role than shallow depth variation in improving the cultivation efficiency of C. lentillifera under a monofilament nylon-based vertical culture system.
