Abstract

The development of social media, especially Instagram, is increasingly favored by young people. The resulting content seems to represent the self-concept of its users. This study aims to analyze the formation of self-concept of SMA Negeri 8 Jakarta students through social media Instagram. This study uses the theory of Uses and Gratifications and qualitative descriptive methods using observation, interviews, and collecting documentation as secondary data. The results of this study indicate that there are two reasons for self-concept formation in students of SMA Negeri 8 Jakarta in fulfilling their needs in using media, namely social integrity needs, and cognitive needs. Furthermore, the informants also have three characteristics of self-concept, namely: self-conclusive, self-protective, and real and ideal, true, and false selves. The things that can shape their self-concept are likes, comments, and the content they share, for the followers are not too important. Informants are more confident in interacting on the Instagram application than directly because Instagram users do not meet face to face dir

Abstract

door for every child, especially girls, to have equal opportunities to participate widely regardless of their gender status. The West Kalimantan Children's Forum exists as a means for girls to express their opinions and contribute more to the full fulfilment of children's rights. The historical background of past ethnic conflicts makes the reconciliation of ethnic conflicts in West Kalimantan continue to this day. Indirectly the participation of children, especially girls, is very calculated for establishing harmony between ethnicities and all groups of people in West Kalimantan. The study is aimed to the initial review of phenomenological studies in looking at the critical awareness process through participatory intercultural communication processes carried out by female leaders who are children of Dayak and Madurese ethnicity at the West Kalimantan Children's Forum. This research uses a qualitative method drawn from a phenomenological perspective so that the process of individual experience becomes very important as a witness to the journey of reconciliation. The theory of Liberation Education from the perspective of Paulo Freire is used to see how far the process of critical awareness through participatory intercultural communication processes can encourage individuals to proceed in reconciliation for the sake of inter-ethnic harmony through participation as a member of the West Kalimantan Children's Forum. The subject of this research involved girls as members of the Children's Forum in the form of in-depth interviews to see to what extent the public sphere provides an opportunity to process together reconciliation which is still ongoing today. This study explains that the achievement of critical awareness in girls' participation in conflict reconciliation still has to go through several stages of awareness, such as magical and naive. The process of openness, learning, and accepting differences, will make girls' leadership reach the highest critical awareness and be able to participate fully in development that involves quality young people.

Abstract

Poetry is a form of reflective expression that plays an important role in conveying cultural values, healing the soul, and forming the collective identity of society. However, the perception of the general public currently still sees poetry as a complicated and exclusive art due to a rigid teaching approach and focus on structural aspects. This community service aims to open access and bring poetry closer to the general public. The poetry workshop was held offline in Pontianak involving participants from various age and professional backgrounds, in collaboration with the Pontianak Poetry Community. The method used is a community-based descriptive qualitative approach, emphasizing the active involvement of participants in the process of reading, writing, and reflecting on poetry, with a focus on personal experiences and emotional expression. The results show that poetry can be accessed and used as a medium for inclusive and reflective expression, is able to dismantle elitist stigma, and strengthens social connections between participants through a process of joint expression and appreciation. These findings strengthen the role of poetry as a means of aesthetic literacy that has the potential to increase expressive awareness and social cohesion in society.
