Abstract

In 2013, there were 18 provinces whose coverage of early breastfeeding was below the national figure, one of which was East Java. Mother's knowledge from pregnancy to childbirth about IMD is very decisive for the success of exclusive breastfeeding and avoiding the baby from being malnourished. The counseling activity for early breastfeeding initiation at Posyandu Catleya 19 was attended by 22 prospective mothers, 7 pregnant women and 6 breastfeeding mothers. Participants were given a pretest to determine the level of knowledge about early breastfeeding initiation. The activity continued with the presentation of material about early breastfeeding initiation to participants. The community service team also provided modules to participants in easy-to-understand language, followed by discussion and question and answer sessions. The topics that were used as questions by the participants were related to family support in breastfeeding, the fear of pregnant women about breast milk that did not come out when giving birth to a baby and equalizing perceptions regarding the importance of breastfeeding for babies starting with early initiation of breastfeeding for newborns. Based on the evaluation results, there were 20 prospective mothers, 7 pregnant women and 4 breastfeeding mothers with a post test score higher than the pretest score or a total of 88.57%. This shows that there is an increase in knowledge about the importance of early breastfeeding initiation for the success of exclusive breastfeeding to infants.

Abstract

Improving your health status can be done by getting used to living a clean and healthy lifestyle. The Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour (CHLB) must be promoted in school health programs related to personal hygiene and environmental sanitation to prevent disease in the school environment. Getting students used to practicing PHBS at school can be used as a foundation for health behaviour. This community service activity was carried out at SD Glagahwero 2 Jember which was attended by all students from class 1 to class 6. Education was carried out through counselling by providing explanations about how PHBS should be applied in daily life both at home, school and other public places. As well as explaining the benefits of implementing CHLB which are applied in everyday life. After counselling on the snakes and ladders educational game, students are trained to be able to answer or make decisions according to the problems/questions given in the game. The increase in knowledge that students receive about CHLB can be seen from the students' ability to answer questions correctly, this will support students' clean and healthy living habits so that they can improve the level of health in society.

Abstract

The increasing population is followed by a rise in waste production, both organic and inorganic. A preliminary survey showed that households generate a large amount of organic waste that has not been properly processed. The community tends to dispose of waste at landfills and then burn it. The aim of this activity is to implement the Eco-Friendly Project by converting organic waste into eco-enzyme in Kemuning Lor Village, Jember Regency. The target participants of this community service activity are members of the PKK, health cadres, youth groups, and village officials. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding, and they were able to independently produce eco-enzyme from organic waste. It is recommended that continuous activities be conducted to provide health education to the community, and that the results of this community service activity be disseminated widely to the public.
