Abstract

The integration of local history into educational practices is vital for fostering students' character development and preserving cultural heritage. This study explores the revitalization of Kerinci’s history through interactive learning as a strategy to strengthen character education based on local wisdom. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a case study method, the research was conducted in schools in Kerinci Regency. Data collection methods included in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving history teachers, students, and school administrators. The findings indicate that integrating Kerinci’s historical narratives and traditions into interactive learning methods, such as storytelling, role-playing, and project-based activities, significantly enhances students’ engagement and understanding. These approaches not only make learning more enjoyable but also effectively instill values such as nationalism, respect, and cultural pride. Furthermore, challenges identified in implementing these methods include limited resources and teachers’ unfamiliarity with interactive techniques. This study concludes that revitalizing Kerinci’s history through interactive learning is a meaningful way to connect education with local culture and to cultivate strong character foundations in students. Recommendations include developing localized curriculum materials, conducting teacher training on interactive methodologies, and increasing institutional support for integrating local history into education.

Abstract

Kerinci is one of the regions in Jambi Province that is aggressively developing the batik industry. The batik industry that is currently developing is the Incung batik industry. Incung batik is a typical Kerinci batik with incung writing motif. The development of the batik industry that takes place in people's lives is not a work of art, but an industrial product that becomes a commodity. The development of the batik industry requires precision, accuracy, subtlety and beauty that is very suitable for the characteristics of a woman. With that, the role of women is very large in the development of the incung batik industry. The purpose of this article is to describe and analyze the important role of women in the batik industry, not only as batik craftsmen, batik entrepreneurs and housewives. In this research, history research methods are used to understand social phenomena that occur in the community directly at the research location. Hopefully this article can help increase the knowledge of women incung batik artisans in Kerinci.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the character values in the Kenduri Sko tradition of the Kerinci Tribe and analyze its implementation in teaching local content in junior high schools. Kenduri Sko tradition, as one of the local cultural heritages, is rich in values such as gotong royong, independence, togetherness, and religiosity, which are relevant in character education. This study used a qualitative approach with the methods of participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The results showed that the values of Kenduri Sko have strong relevance to the Pancasila Learner Profile in the Merdeka Curriculum, especially in the aspects of gotong royong, independence, and global diversity. The implementation of these values in Local Content teaching is carried out through project-based learning methods and reflective activities, which involve students directly in understanding and applying these values. The novelty of this research lies in integrating the values of Kenduri Sko tradition into formal teaching in junior high school, which has not been studied much before. This research makes an important contribution in developing local wisdom-based character education and offers an implementation model that can be applied in the context of education in other areas rich in local culture.

Abstract

Sungai Liuk is an area that has various traditions, one of which is baseloa. Baseloa is a tradition carried out when one of its community members wants to make a house foundation, this tradition is still carried out by the people of Sungai Liuk until now. This research aims to explore what character education values are contained in baseloa activities in the Sungai Liuk community; in addition, it is also to see how the development of this tradition so that it can be preserved until now which will later become a character or moral for the local community of Sungai Liuk.The method used in this research is the historical method. The results showed that character education can be formed from the local wisdom of the local community, this is because in the implementation of certain traditions there are special rituals that are usually carried out by the community. So that from this habit, an attitude or behavior is created which will increasingly form a community character. In this case, the baseloa tradition of the Sungai Liuk community contains character education values, namely religious, tolerance, democratic, love for the country, friendly/communicative, and social care that need to be instilled in the nation's next generation.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa tingkat akhir dalam mengonversi skripsi menjadi artikel ilmiah yang siap terbit. Sasaran kegiatan adalah mahasiswa IAIN Kerinci dan STKIP Muhammadiyah Sungai Penuh. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mahasiswa adalah minimnya pengetahuan dan pengalaman dalam menulis artikel ilmiah, meskipun telah menyelesaikan skripsi. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pelatihan tatap muka, bimbingan teknis, dan praktik langsung penulisan artikel. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengalami peningkatan pemahaman terhadap struktur artikel ilmiah, teknik penyesuaian isi skripsi, serta penggunaan sitasi dan referensi. Sebagian besar peserta mampu menghasilkan draft artikel ilmiah yang layak untuk diajukan ke jurnal. Kegiatan ini mendorong tumbuhnya budaya publikasi ilmiah di kalangan mahasiswa dan perlu dilanjutkan secara berkala sebagai bagian dari strategi peningkatan mutu akademik.

Abstract

Traditional sports are a vital component of cultural heritage, reflecting a community's identity. They are crucial for preserving cultural legacy and fostering character in the younger generation. One such sport, Pacu Perahu (Boat Racing), practiced in Rawang Hamlet, serves not only as a competition but also as a medium for character education and human resource development. Passed down through generations, it strengthens social solidarity and helps shape community character. However, social changes and modernization have led to declining youth participation in Pacu Perahu. This trend threatens to erode the character values inherent in the sport and undermines the potential of local culture-based character education, which is an effective means of shaping youth personality. This study aims to analyze the role of Pacu Perahu as a medium for strengthening youth character and to formulate revitalization strategies to ensure its relevance in modern character education. It further seeks to explore its contribution to human resource development in Rawang Hamlet. The findings are expected to provide a foundational framework for preserving Pacu Perahu and to contribute to youth character building. The research employs a qualitative approach using an ethnographic method.
