Abstract

This study aims to develop and implement a suicide ideation monitoring system in adolescents based on the YOLO (You Only Look Once) algorithm with real-time data analysis. The YOLO algorithm is used to detect facial expressions that reflect negative emotions, such as sadness and anxiety, which can be early indicators of suicidal ideation. The research methods used are qualitative and quantitative approaches, including the collection of facial image data, model training using the TensorFlow and OpenCV frameworks, and testing the system's performance in detecting facial expressions in real time. The system test is carried out by comparing the results of YOLO detection against reference data to measure the accuracy and speed of detection. The results of the study show that the developed system is able to detect facial expressions with an accuracy rate of 92% and an average detection speed of 30 milliseconds per frame. In addition, the system can be integrated with communication platforms to provide warning notifications to related parties as a form of early intervention. Thus, this study proves that the YOLO algorithm is effective in developing a suicide ideation monitoring system based on real-time data analysis so that it can be a preventive solution in supporting adolescent mental health.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of short-form video content consumption on adolescents’ cognitive health, particularly focusing on symptoms of brain fog and attention disorders. Conducted through a quantitative survey involving adolescents aged 16 to 21, the research measured daily usage of TikTok and Instagram Reels and its correlation with self-reported cognitive symptoms. The results indicate a strong positive association between excessive use of these platforms and the prevalence of focus problems and mental fatigue. Interestingly, adolescents with moderate usage reported fewer cognitive complaints, suggesting that limited exposure may offer a form of cognitive stimulation. These findings support existing concerns about digital media overload while also proposing a new perspective through the "Optimal Digital Stimulation" theory. The study highlights the importance of digital balance and offers implications for educational interventions and policy development aimed at promoting healthy media consumption among youth.

Abstract

Vocabulary acquisition is a fundamental aspect of language learning that significantly influences students’ communication skills and academic performance. However, traditional vocabulary teaching methods often emphasize rote memorization and word lists, neglecting less commonly explored strategies that can enhance vocabulary growth more effectively. This study examines the impact of integrating rarely discussed aspects of vocabulary development, such as lexical chunks, morphological awareness, etymology, and contextual learning, on second-grade senior high school students. The research employs a qualitative and quantitative approach, incorporating classroom observations, student assessments, and teacher feedback to analyze the effectiveness of these strategies. Findings indicate that students exposed to these methods show a deeper understanding of word formation, improved retention, and greater confidence in using new vocabulary in different contexts. Additionally, engaging students in interactive learning activities, such as word mapping, etymological exploration, and phrase-based instruction, fosters a more meaningful and long-term vocabulary acquisition process. By shifting the focus from isolated word memorization to a more holistic and contextualized approach, this study provides valuable insights for educators aiming to enhance students' vocabulary proficiency. The findings suggest that incorporating innovative vocabulary learning strategies into English language teaching can create a more dynamic and effective learning environment for senior high school students.
