Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to discover the students' conceptual understanding of Quran-integrated chemistry learning. This study included 37 third-year students from UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The Grounded Theory design was used for this study. The findings revealed that students' conceptual understanding was classified into seven categories. As many as 89.19 percent of students have a conceptual understanding dichotomy between religion and chemistry.

Abstract

Fitoremediasi merupakan teknik penghilangan kontaminan dengan menggunakan  pendekatan berbasis tanaman air yang hemat biaya dan mudah diterapkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah meremidiasi limbah cair Primary Effluent Treatment-Secondary Effluent Treatment (PET-SET) menggunakan tanaman eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes) dan menguji kadar kontaminannya dengan parameter uji meliputi pH, kadar COD, fenol, dan amonia. Metode fitoremediasi yang digunakan adalah rizofiltrasi. Limbah PET-SET terlebih dahulu diencerkan dan dilakukan proses aklimatisasi. Fitoremediasi dilakukan selama lima hari. Eceng gondok efektif dalam menurunkan kontaminan limbah PET-SET, seperti pH hingga 20%, kadar COD, fenol, dan amonia masing-masing hingga 69%, 67%, dan 86%. Dengan demikian dapat dikatakan bahwa eceng gondok mampu meremediasi limbah PET-SET dengan baik.

Abstract

The removal of Co(II) ions using Fe-MCM-41 adsorbent was studied. Fe-MCM-41 was synthesized by the sonochemical method and then interacted with solutions containing Co(II) ions at various concentrations. The Langmuir equation indicated monolayer adsorption could be well-fitted for the adsorption isotherms. The maximum adsorption capacity of Co(II) ions on Fe-MCM-41 was 62.89 mg/g. Therefore, it could be conclude that the concentration of Co(II) ions in an aqueous solution can be reduced by using Fe-MCM-41 adsorbent.

Abstract

Pencemaran air oleh ion logam berat, khususnya tembaga (Cu(II)), merupakan masalah lingkungan yang serius karena dapat membahayakan ekosistem perairan dan kesehatan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji adsorpsi ion logam Cu(II) dengan menggunakan pasir kaolin Bangka Belitung yang diaktivasi secara basa. Pasir kaolin direndam dalam larutan NaOH 1 M, kemudian disaring, dicuci sampai netral, dan dikeringkan pada suhu 110 °C. Hasil karakterisasi pasir kaolin teraktivasi menunjukkan bahwa adanya pita serapan vibrasi tekuk gugus hidroksil pada bilangan gelombang 1661 cm-1, sementara pada pasir kaolin tanpa aktivasi tidak muncul. Kemampuan pasir kaolin teraktivasi dalam mengadsorpsi ion logam Cu(II) dikaji berdasarkan variasi waktu kontak. Banyaknya ion logam Cu(II) yang teradsorp dianalisis dengan UV-Vis. Kapasitas adsorpsi dan %adsorpsi ion logam Cu(II) tertinggi tercapai pada menit ke 25 dengan jumlah masing-masing sebesar 51,95 mg/g dan 17,32%. Dengan proses aktivasi yang relatif sederhana, pasir kaolin teraktivasi menunjukkan potensi yang besar sebagai solusi efisien dan ramah lingkungan untuk pengolahan air tercemar ion logam Cu(II).

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with a high index of spreading hoax news. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the spread of fake news has actually increased. issues around religion, politics and health are issues that are often discussed with sources that have a crisis of validity. This puts the public at risk of consuming hoax news which today can be accessed through conventional media and online media which will have an impact on the level of public trust in the government, especially in the implementation of health protocols. The focus of this research is to find out how the impact of hoax news has on the implementation of health protocols carried out by the community. The approach used is qualitative with case studies on whatsapp groups, the analysis technique in this study is Herbert Blumer's theory of symbolic interactionism, which includes the concepts of meaning, language and thought. This finding shows that the spread of hoaxes occurs because of the meaning formed by individuals who believe that the news is reliable. passing through the thinking process stage which then the thinking process relates to the formation process where the meaning used will become an instrument for the direction and formation of social action or behavior on the meaning created on the news earlier, one of which is the violation of health protocols due to the meaning created from hoax news about covid-19. Thus, the public needs to increase literacy regarding hoax news and how to respond to hoax news correctly so that the Indonesian people can become smart people and can overcome the co-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of a science literacy instrument based on the Rasch Model in measuring students' abilities on socio-scientific issues. The analysis was conducted on 20 items using the Winsteps software. The results indicate that the instrument demonstrated good reliability, with an item reliability value of 0.96 and a person reliability value of 0.65. The Wright Map revealed that most items were well-aligned with the respondents’ abilities, although some items fell outside the majority's ability range. The analysis of item difficulty showed adequate variation, with the most difficult item at logit 2.09 and the easiest at logit -2.49. However, the DIF analysis identified bias in item 20M, which exhibited significant differences between male and female groups. These findings highlight the importance of revising specific items to enhance fairness in measurement. This study provides significant contributions to the development of educational assessment instruments based on the Rasch Model, ensuring validity, reliability, and fairness in evaluation. The instrument is expected to serve as an effective tool to support science literacy-based learning across various educational levels.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a performance assessment based on the cassava peel waste processing project. This research uses methods of research and development 4D models which are only carried out until the stage of develop. At the define stage, a literature study and a preliminary study are carried out. At the design stage, planning and preparation of the initial draft are carried out in the form of performance assessments. In the develop stage, two science education experts validated the suitability of the content and construction of the performance assessment instrument to Torrance’s framework of indicators creative thinking skills. The product of the validation results was then responded to the suitability of the content and construction aspects of the indicators of creative thinking skills by three science teachers. The results of expert validation and teacher responses indicate that the performance assessment instrument product is very suitable to be used to assess student performance in integrated science learning based on cassava peel waste treatment projects.Keywords: performance assessment, cassava peel waste project, creative thinking skills. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v22i2.pp305-311

Abstract

Creative thinking skills have an important role to face the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to improve the creative thinking skills of junior high school students through a project-based learning model for processing cassava peel waste. This research method is quasi-experimental, non-equivalent pre-test-post-test control group design. The sample in this study was class VII students of SMPN 1 Purbolinggo, who were determined using a purposive sampling technique. The number of students in the control and the experimental classes was 32 people each. The instruments in this research are the Creative Thinking Skills Test and Performance Assessment. The results showed that the average N-gain for creative thinking skills in the experimental class was in the medium category (0.58), while on the control class, it was in the low category (0.29). Cohen's d coefficients for each indicator of creative thinking skills fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration; were 0.62, 0.58, 0.72, and 0.72, respectively, all in the medium category. However, Cohen's d coefficient effect size for the average N-gain overall creative thinking skills is 2.40, belonging to the very large category. Based on these results, it can conclude that the project-based learning model is effective with a very large effect on improving students' creative thinking skills.Keywords: creative thinking skills, project-based learning models, cassava peel waste.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1850-1861

Abstract

Using 5E learning cycle-based laboratory activity in improving students’ problem solving skills on mixture separation topic. Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe the effectivity of laboratory activity on mixture separation topic based on 5E learning cycle to improve students’ problem solving skills. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out in the SMPN 33 Bandar Lampung by using the matching only pretest-posttest control group design. The 7th-D and the 7th-E grade were used as experimental and control classes, respectively, which they were obtained by using purposive sampling technique. Findings: The effectivity of 5E learning cycle-based laboratory activity measured based on the n-gainand the effect size values. The n-gain value of experimental and control classes were in medium (0.52) and low (0.29) categorized, respectively. The effect size value was in large categorized (0.67). Conclusion: These results indicated that 5E learning cycle-based laboratory activity could be effective to improve students’ problem solving skills to separate of mixture. Keywords: problem solving skills, laboratory activity, 5E learning cycle. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v9.i2.201922
