Abstract

Freshwater ornamental fish such as guppies (Poecilia reticulata) are popular due to the variety and vibrancy of their body coloration. However, one of the main challenges in their cultivation is the decline in color quality caused by pigment loss, which reduces their visual appeal. Lighting, particularly from artificial sources such as LED lamps, plays a critical role in influencing chromatophore activity involved in pigmentation. The appropriate spectrum, intensity, and duration of light exposure can enhance the brightness and clarity of fish coloration. Additionally, β-carotene, a precursor of carotenoid pigments, is essential for color enhancement. Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis), especially its mesocarp, is a rich natural source of β-carotene and has potential as a natural feed additive. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of combining LED light spectra with β-carotene extract from oil palm mesocarp on color intensity and reproductive performance of guppies. The experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and two replications: A (red LED + 20% β-carotene), B (yellow LED + 20% β-carotene), C (white LED + 20% β-carotene), and D (no LED + 20% β-carotene). The results showed that treatment C (white LED + 20% β-carotene) produced the best outcomes, with an increase in color score of 28.83 points (measured using Toca Color Finder) and an average of 45 offspring. These findings indicate that the integration of LED lighting and dietary β-carotene derived from oil palm is effective in enhancing both coloration and reproductive performance in guppies

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different starch types on the physical, chemical, and organoleptic characteristics of baung fish (Hemibagrus nemurus) crackers. Three types of starch were used in the cracker formulations: tapioca starch (P1), sago starch (P2), and cornstarch (P3). The analyses included expansion ratio, organoleptic evaluation (taste, aroma, color, and texture), and proximate composition (moisture, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrate content). Organoleptic data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, followed by the Mann-Whitney test for significant differences, and Bayes analysis to determine the best treatment. The results showed that crackers made with tapioca starch (P1) exhibited the highest expansion ratio. Organoleptic testing indicated that P1 was most preferred in terms of taste (8.83±0.461) and texture (8.50±0.820), while the best aroma was recorded for P2 (7.90±1.269), and the most preferred color was found in P3 (7.50±1.737). Proximate analysis revealed that P1 had the highest moisture (9.35%), fat (2.52%), and protein (11.23%) contents. The highest ash content was observed in P3 (5.72%), while P2 showed the highest carbohydrate content (77.72%).

Abstract

Ikan mengandung asam amino, protein dan asam lemak tak jenuh tinggi yang dibutuhkan oleh anak usia dini untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan psikomotorik yang baik. Minimnya kesadaran konsumsi makanan yang bernilai gizi tinggi merupakan salah satu penyebab terjadinya stunting. Sehingga perlu dilakukan edukasi untuk menumbuhkan minat konsumsi ikan. Hal ini juga mendukung program pemerintah yaitu Gerakan memasyarakatkan Makan Ikan “GEMARIKAN” yaitu suatu gerakan moral untuk memotivasi masyarakat secara luas untuk mengkonsumsi ikan secara teratur dalam jumlah yang diisyaratkan bagi kesehatan agar terbentuk manusia yang sehat dan cerdas. Namun, anak-anak usia dini relative kurang menyukai ikan karena bau nya yang kurang sedap dan penyajian ikan dirumah yang monoton, sehingga perlu dilakukan sosialisasi agar anak memamhami pentingnya mengkonsumsi ikan, dan perju juga edukasi mengenai jenis-jenis olahan ikan. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Dusun Indrapatra Desa Ladong Kecamatan Mesjid Raya Kabupaten Acehh Besar. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah “fun”sosialisasi dengan tahapan pelaksanaan antara lain persiapan, penyajian materi, permainan edukasi, evaluasi. Peserta yang mengikuti adalah anak-anak usia Sekolah Dasar yang berdomisili di Dusun tersebut.Kata kunci: Gemarikan, ikan, protein hewani, protein laut, stunting

Abstract

Plastic waste poses a serious global challenge with significant environmental and health impacts, largely driven by low public awareness of waste management and the excessive use of plastics. Elementary school years, often referred to as the golden age, represent a crucial stage in shaping character and behavior, making early environmental education a strategic foundation for long-term ecological awareness. This Community Service Program (PKM) was designed to enhance environmental consciousness by providing education on the dangers of plastic waste and hands-on creative recycling training for students at SDN 1 Seumet, Montasik District, Aceh Besar. Conducted on August 14, 2025, the program engaged lecturers, students from Community Service Group 33 of Universitas Abulyatama, and school teachers. Activities included educational sessions, video presentations, interactive discussions, and practical workshops on recycling plastic into simple artworks. Evaluation through observation, reflective discussions, and questionnaires revealed improved student understanding of plastic pollution, adoption of 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and the ability to create value-added products from waste materials. Furthermore, students demonstrated growing awareness of reducing single-use plastics and embracing eco-friendly alternatives. Overall, the program effectively fostered environmental responsibility during the golden age of development, with the potential to generate lasting positive impacts on both the school and the surrounding community.

Abstract

Analisis proksimat merupakan salah satu analisis mutu yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui nilai gizi pada produk pangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur nilai kadar air, kadar protein, kadar lemak, kadar abu dan kadar karbohidrat dari kerupuk limbah cangkang tiram. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen yang dilakukan di laboratorium dengan menganalisis kadar air, kadar protein, kadar lemak, kadar abu dan kadar protein dari kerupuk limbah cangkang tiram pada konsentrasi penambahan tepung tiram 15%. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan, maka diperoleh hasil kadar air  yaitu 8,16%, Kadar abu  5,75%, kadar lemak 3,03%, kadar protein  2,93 %, dan kadar karbohidrat  80,13%.  Dari hasil analisis diperoleh hasil kadar air, kadar abu dan kadar karbohidrat  pada kerupuk limbah cangkang tiram lebih tinggi nilainya dibandingkan perlakuan kontrol sedangkan kadar protein dan lemak lebih rendah dibandingkan perlakuan kontrol.

Abstract

Ikan guppy merupakan salah satu ikan hias yang populer di kalangan pencinta ikan hias karena variasi corak warnanya yang menarik. Intensitas warna pada ikan hias dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor pakan dan kondisi lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh warna cahaya lampu light emitting diode (LED) terhadap tingkat kecerahan warna ikan guppy yang diberi pakan dengan tambahan pigmen antosianin dari ubi jalar ungu. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan, serta menggunakan lampu LED sebagai variabel perlakuan. Perlakuan meliputi: A (kontrol/tanpa lampu), B (LED ungu), C (LED hijau), dan D (LED merah), di mana semua perlakuan dipelihara dengan pemberian pakan yang mengandung antosianin selama 60 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor peningkatan warna ikan guppy tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan D dengan skor 26,66±1,06, diikuti oleh perlakuan C dengan skor 23,77±0,97 dan perlakuan B dengan skor 23,00±0,98, sementara perlakuan A (kontrol) memiliki skor terendah, yaitu 20,11±1,21. Berdasarkan analisis nonparametrik menggunakan uji Kruskal-Wallis, perbedaan warna cahaya lampu memberikan pengaruh signifikan (P<0,05) terhadap skor peningkatan warna ikan guppy. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup tertinggi tercatat pada perlakuan D (96,3%) dan terendah pada perlakuan A (kontrol) dengan 77,8%. Dengan demikian, penggunaan pakan yang diperkaya antosianin yang dipadukan dengan pencahayaan LED merah terbukti mampu memberikan hasil terbaik dalam meningkatkan kecerahan warna sekaligus mempertahankan tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan guppy. Strategi ini dapat diterapkan secara praktis dalam kegiatan budidaya untuk meningkatkan produktivitas serta memperkuat nilai estetika ikan hias.Guppy fish are widely favored in the ornamental fish community due to their diverse and vibrant color patterns. This study aimed to assess how different LED (Light Emitting Diode) light colors affect the brightness of guppy fish that were fed anthocyanin pigment supplements from purple sweet potatoes. The experiment followed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatment groups and three replicates, using LED light colors as the primary variable. The treatments included A (control/no light), B (purple LED), C (green LED), and D (red LED), with all fish receiving anthocyanin-enriched feed for 60 days. Results indicated that treatment D (red LED) led to the highest color enhancement score (26.66±1.065), followed by C (green LED) with 23.77±0.97, and B (purple LED) with 23±0.98. Treatment A (control) recorded the lowest score of 20.11±1.21. Non-parametric analysis using the Kruskal-Wallis test revealed that different LED light colors significantly (P<0.05) influenced the color enhancement scores. Additionally, the highest survival rate was observed in the red LED group (D) at 96.3%, while the control group (A) had the lowest at 77.8%. Thus, the combination of anthocyanin-enriched feed with red LED lighting proved to be the most effective in enhancing color brightness while maintaining guppy survival rates. This strategy can be practically applied in ornamental fish farming to improve productivity and enhance aesthetic value.

Abstract

Cosmetic products in Indonesia are growing rapidly in this era of technological progress, so now cosmetics are synonymous with women, and men are also interested in skincare. However, due to the lack of knowledge about the function of the substances contained in a product whether it is good or not if used in cosmetic products. Apart from that, most people do not know how to utilize village potential. Making organic masks aims to avoid the dangers of instant masks and utilizing the potential of village natural resources is the right solution. Therefore, this community service activity can be used as education on organic masks based on utilizing the potential of Ulva lactuca seaweed. Organic masks are very safe from chemicals that can damage facial skin. Organic masks contain more nutrients that are good for facial skin and can be used by all facial skin types. The results of community service showed a low increase in the participants' understanding of knowledge.
