Abstract

This study aims to examine the contribution of self-regulated learning and peer social support to academic procrastination among university students in completing their thesis. Meanwhile, peer social support provides emotional and motivational assistance that can help students overcome academic stress and maintain their commitment to completing tasks. Using a quantitative correlational design, the research population is 2353 students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training which was found to be a sample of 100 students who used the Taro Yamane formula. The analysis of this study uses description, simple and multiple linear regression. The analysis of research data was conducted using the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 28 For Windows application. The results showed that both self-regulated learning and peer social support significantly contribute to reducing academic procrastination, with self-regulated learning having a stronger influence. Furthermore, the combination of these two factors explained a substantial portion of the variance in procrastination behaviour. The findings suggest that interventions aimed at improving students’ self-regulation skills and fostering supportive peer networks can effectively decrease procrastination and enhance thesis completion rates. This study provides valuable insights for educators and academic counsellors in designing comprehensive support programs to assist students in overcoming procrastination challenges

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of 21st-century competencies in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), particularly in the subjects of Aqidah Akhlak and Qur’an-Hadith. The competencies discussed include literacy, the 4Cs (critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration), Character Education (PPK), and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This research employs a library research method by reviewing various relevant books, journals, and academic studies. The findings indicate that both religious and digital literacy serve as essential foundations for students to understand and connect Islamic teachings with contemporary life challenges. The 4Cs enrich Aqidah Akhlak and Qur’an-Hadith learning by fostering critical thinking, creativity, effective communication, and collaboration. Character Education strengthens students’ moral values, while HOTS encourages them to analyze, evaluate, and create solutions to social issues based on Islamic principles. Thus, integrating 21st-century competencies into PAI not only enhances academic achievement but also nurtures students to become religious, critical, creative, and adaptive individuals in facing the demands of modern times.

Abstract

The discourse on religious diplomacy and the governance of Islamic law in the Southeast Asian region cannot be separated from the institutional role played by the forum of Religious Ministers of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore (MABIMS). Since its establishment in 1989, MABIMS has evolved from a mere informal consultative forum into a strategic platform facilitating the harmonization of regional Islamic policies amidst the dynamics of globalization and geopolitical challenges. This research report aims to comprehensively identify, analyze, and evaluate the strategic role of MABIMS in responding to the contemporary problems of Muslims in Southeast Asia. This research is structured adhering to strict academic guidelines, focusing the analysis on three main pillars: the unification of the Hijri calendar, the standardization of the halal industry ecosystem, and the mainstreaming of religious moderation (Islam Wasathiyah). This study uses a qualitative literature-based research method (library research) with a normative-juridical and historical approach. Data were collected through critical reading of official MABIMS resolution documents, Islamic journals, and public policy literature from member countries. The identification results indicate that MABIMS plays a central role in: (a) ratifying the New Criteria for hilal visibility (minimum altitude of 3 and elongation of 6.4) to reduce disparities in Islamic holiday celebrations and unify the regional Islamic astronomy (Ilmu Falak) paradigm; (b) harmonizing cross-border halal certification standards to strengthen the ASEAN region's position as the epicenter of the global sharia economy; and (c) strengthening soft power diplomacy through integrated Hajj management and the promotion of Islam Wasathiyah as an antithesis to transnational extremism and puritanism. The main conclusion of this study emphasizes that although MABIMS resolutions are conceptually and normatively very ideal, their implementation at the grassroots level still collides with sociological obstacles, methodological pluralism, local traditional heritage, and the political sovereignty of each country. Therefore, social engineering strategies and the transformation of resolutions into more binding legal instruments are needed to ensure a real and measurable impact on the unity and welfare of Muslims in the Nusantara region.
