Abstract

One of the nutritional issues that continues to be a problem in Indonesia is stunting. For the time being, the percentage of babies and toddlers who are stunted is still relatively high, which means that it is necessary to lower it. The reduction in the number of kids who are stunted can be prevented as early as feasible. Classes for pregnant women are one method of preventing stunting. These classes are designed to educate and enlighten pregnant women about stunting, which is one of the ways that stunting can be prevented. This study was conducted to determine the impact that classes for pregnant women have on the prevention of stunting issues. This secondary research utilized a literature review approach by examining pertinent information on a specific topic. Articles were sourced from the Pubmed and Google Scholar databases using the "publish or perish" search tool from 2019 to 2024, based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria and articles were screened using PRISMA. The research findings indicate that prenatal classes serve as a platform for education and support to convey information, enhance and influence knowledge, and alter attitudes and behaviors about stunting. Conclusion: Offering classes for pregnant women can help reduce stunting.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Approximately 72% of mothers who give birth normally experience perineal wounds, with 35% of them experiencing slow wound healing due to lack of optimal postpartum care. OUKUP therapy of clove leaves and nutmeg based on herbal steam is effective in accelerating the healing of perineal wounds naturally. This study aims to determine the effect of complementary therapy OUKUP clove leaves and nutmeg on perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers. The research method uses a quasi-experimental approach, with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all postpartum mothers who experienced perineal wounds grade I-II. The number of samples consisted of 32 respondents, where the sample was divided into 2 so that it became 16 people for each group. The study shows that oukup therapy accelerates perineal wound healing (5 days) compared to the control (8 days), with a significant difference (p = 0.001). So it can be concluded that there is an effect of complementary therapy OUKUP clove leaves and nutmeg on perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers. Midwives are advised to consider implementing evidence-based complementary therapies and provide education on the use of clove and nutmeg leaf-based therapies. Abstract

Abstract

Perineal wounds are one of the health problems that often occur in postpartum mothers and can cause pain, activity limitations, and slow recovery. The wound healing process is influenced by nutritional status, especially protein and albumin. Snakehead fish (Channa striata) is known to have high albumin and protein content which plays an important role in tissue regeneration so it has the potential to accelerate wound healing. This study aims to determine the effect of administering snakehead fish capsules on the duration of perineal wound healing in postpartum mothers. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a post-test only control group design approach. At the Baloi Permai Community Health Center from February to August 2025. The population in this study were postpartum mothers, a sample of 32 respondents consisting of an intervention group given snakehead fish capsules and a control group. Data analysis using SPSS Data on the duration of perineal wound healing were analyzed using an independent t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The average duration of perineal wound healing in the control group was 7.31 days, while in the intervention group it was 4.88 days. The mean difference of 2.42 days was statistically significant with a p-value of 0.000 (α < 0.05). This indicates that snakehead fish capsules significantly accelerated perineal wound healing in postpartum women. This study recommends the use of snakehead fish capsules as a non-invasive, locally sourced complementary therapy to support postpartum recovery. Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia despite declining prevalence, with disparities in maternal knowledge and preventive practices persisting in outermost, frontier, and least-developed (3T) regions. To compare stunting-prevention knowledge and practices among pregnant women in the 3T outermost islands and a non-3T urban area of the Riau Islands Province, and identify factors associated with adequate knowledge. A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted among 420 pregnant women using multistage cluster sampling. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire and analyzed with chi-square tests and multivariable logistic regression. Women in the 3T islands had lower adequate knowledge (37.6% vs. 63.8%), attendance of 6 ANC contacts (40.5% vs. 77.6%), adherence to 90 iron–folic acid tablets (33.8% vs. 60.5%), and adequate dietary diversity (30.0% vs. 54.8%) (all p < 0.001). Residence in the 3T region (aOR 0.42), tertiary education (aOR 2.98), distance > 5 km to a health facility (aOR 0.55), and nutrition counselling (aOR 2.41) were independently associated with adequate knowledge. Geographic disparities persist, high lighting the need for targeted maternal education, nutrition counselling, and improved access to maternal health services in 3T settings.
