Abstract

Exclusive breast milk is breast milk given to babies from birth for 6 months, without adding and/or replacing it with other foods or drinks. The aim of this research is to identify exclusive breastfeeding for babies aged 4-12 months in the work area of ??the Koto Baru Community Health Center, Dharmasraya Regency. In this research method, the researcher used analytical observational with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study was all mothers and babies aged 4-12 months in the working area of ??the Koto Baru Community Health Center, Dharmasraya Regency, totaling 68 babies. The sample in this study was a portion of mothers and babies from the population of all mothers and babies aged 4-12 months in the working area of ??the Koto Baru Community Health Center, Dharmasraya Regency, totaling 40 babies. The data collection technique uses probability sampling. The results of 40 respondents, the majority, namely 24 respondents (60.0%) had poor nutritional status, 40 respondents, the majority, namely 25 respondents (62.5%) did not give exclusive breast milk to their babies. Discussion Breast milk is the main food for babies which is very beneficial. Breast milk fulfills 100% of the baby's needs up to 6 months of age, whereas at the age of 4-12 months it only fulfills 60% of the baby's needs, so there is a need for complementary foods for breast milk. Breast milk contains various nutrients needed for the growth and development of babies. Solid food is given after the child is 6 months old and breastfeeding is continued until 2 years. The conclusion is that the majority of babies aged 4-12 months in the Koto Baru Health Center Working Area, Dharmasraya Regency are not given exclusive breast milk. There is education between giving exclusive breastfeeding and the nutritional status of babies aged 4-12 months in the Koto Baru Health Center Working Area, Dharmasraya Regency.

Abstract

Campus 4 of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) is a new campus located in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. Campus 4 of UAD area is one of an important habitat pocket for bird species in Bantul Regency. Land use change due to development of urban settlement in this area can affect the existing bird species. The objectiveof this research is to collect data on bird species in the Campus 4 of UAD area. The research was conducted in three different months, namely September 2019, January 2020, and September 2020. The method used in this study was the observation of the roaming method combined with the Visual Encounter Survey (VES). Observations were carried out at three different times, from morning to evening. The birds that observed were identified using a field guide book entitled Burung-Burung diSumatera, Jawa, Bali dan Kalimantan. Recorded bird species data then validated and matched using a book entitled Daftar Burung Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta especially on Bantul regency area.Based on the results of research conducted, the species of birds observed in the Campus 4 of UAD area consist of 21 species from 12 families. The number of species has increased from 7 species in September 2019 to 19 species in September 2020.

Abstract

Improving oil palm production can be achieved through better cultivation management, including proper nursery practices. The quality of seedlings at the early growth stage plays a crucial role in determining field performance, making efficient fertilization essential from the pre-nursery phase. One of the fertilization technologies developed to improve nutrient uptake efficiency is the application of Controlled Release Fertilizer (CRF). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of CRF compared with conventional NPK fertilizer on the growth of oil palm seedlings. The experiment was conducted for three months using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: no fertilizer (P0), NPK (P1), NPK + CRF (P2), and CRF (P3). Data were analyzed using ANOVA at a 5% significance level, followed by the LSD test when significant differences were detected. The results showed that treatments P2, P3, and P4 produced better growth responses than the control in all observed parameters, including plant height, number of leaves, leaf greenness, stem diameter, and leaf area. Fertilizer application significantly improved seedling growth, while CRF, either applied alone or in combination with NPK, produced growth responses comparable to conventional fertilization. These findings indicate that CRF has the potential to be used as an effective fertilization alternative to support oil palm seedling growth in the pre-nursery.

Abstract

Ma'jun is a form of traditional medicinal formulation passed down through generations by the Acehnese community and is commonly used for stamina recovery, treatment of minor ailments, and holistic health therapy. This study aims to explore the types of medicinal plants used in ma'jun production by the community of Blang Dalam Village, Aceh Jaya Regency, and to analyze the ethnobotanical value and pharmacological potential of each species. The research method employed is descriptive ethnobotany with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and field documentation techniques. The study identified 9 species including other natural materials used in ma'jun formulation, with the dominant plant parts being leaves (60%), roots (20%), seeds (10%), and rhizomes (10%). Literature analysis indicates that most of these species possess pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, and gastroprotective properties. These findings confirm that ma'jun is a cultural heritage with great potential to be developed as phytopharmaceuticals based on local wisdom. This study recommends the need for toxicity studies, dose standardization, and further clinical trials.
