Abstract

Chlorophyceae groups, such as Chlorella sp. and Chlamydomonas sp., are a stable group of phytoplankton with the highest abundance in Litopenaneus vannamei ponds. These two types can be used as determinant factors for water quality, growth, and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) in L. vannamei farming. This study aims to determine the correlation of Chlorella sp. and Chlamydomonas sp. on the water quality, growth, and FCR in L. vannamei farming. This study was conducted by survey and identification of plankton, water quality, growth, and FCR. The identified plankton was conducted using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) on water quality, growth, and FCR. The results of the study obtained a total abundance of Chlorella sp. and Chlamydomonas sp. of 91.93%. The water quality was found that most parameters comply with standards for L. vannamei farming activities, except for the parameters phosphate, nitrate, nitrite, Total Organic Matter (TOM), and ammonia. The abundance of Chlorella sp. and Chlamydomonas sp. has a strong correlation with a parameter of water quality in all ponds. The growth rate of Mean Body Weight in ponds is 0.4 – 24.43 grams/shrimp and has a strong correlation with the abundance of Chlorella sp. and Chlamydomonas sp. according to the significance value (p-value) of approximately 0.004 – 0.636. FCR value is 0.3-2.23 and has a strong correlation with the abundance of Chlorella sp. and Chlamydomonas sp. according to the eigenvalue of 1.032-1.670. The eigenvalue of the pond represents approximately 54.364% (pond 1), 55.658% (pond 2), 1.236, and 1.032 (pond 3) of the variable diversity. The results of the study showed that the abundance of Chlorella sp. and Chlamydomonas sp. is an indicator that influences the environment quality, growth, and Feed Conversion Ratio.

Abstract

Litopenaeus vannamei farming intensively cannot be separated from various problems. One of the problems faced by farmers is the availability of seeds in terms of quantity and quality. Therefore, this study aims to determine the production techniques of L. vannamei shrimp nauplii produced from the mass spawning process to support the increase in the number of L. vannamei shrimp production. Mass spawning has an impact on the number of nauplii produced and the effectiveness of broodstock maintenance. This study was carried out in Banten, Indonesia. This study was conducted by surveying and observing the stages of broodstock management, spawning, nauplii harvesting, and the production of nauplii. The results of the study showed that several aspects must be considered: (1) broodstock management that includes feeding and monitoring water quality, (2) mass spawning, and (3) harvesting and production of nauplii. During the rearing period, feed, such as pellets, marine worms, and squid, was administered to accelerate the gonad maturation process, and water quality was controlled. The results of mass spawning were obtained Maturation Rate ranges 12.66 - 21.66%, Matting Rate (MR) ranges 40 - 85%, Fecundity ranges 231,951 – 486,250 eggs/shrimp, Fertilization Rate (FR) ranges 60.45 – 72.37%, and Hatching Rate (HR) ranges 71.66 – 87.24%. Total nauplii production was 4.996.398 shrimp for 28 days. Total production was slightly lower than previously reported, which was caused by an inaccurate matting process.

Abstract

White leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) rearing is an activity to produce shrimp in a certain amount. L. vannamei production is carried out using an intensive system method by considering good fish cultivation practices (CBIB) and water quality factors such as salinity. This study aims to determine the L. vannamei rearing technique at high salinity. The study was conducted using the ex post facto causal method in ponds in the Sukabumi area, West Java. The rearing activities carried out include: pond preparation, sterilization and water formation, seed distribution, maintenance, growth monitoring and harvesting and post-harvesting. The results of monitoring the growth of L. vannamei cultivated with high salinity showed that the Average Body Weight (ABW) value ranged from 1,56-25,14 g/individual (T1) and ranged from 2,1-23,98 g/individual (T2). The Average Daily Growth (ADG) value of T1 ranged from 0,04-0,65 g/day and T2 ranged from 0,06-0,53 g/day. Meanwhile, the Survival Rate (SR) value obtained is included in the high category, namely: 90,15% (T1) and 85,91% (T2). The results of water quality observations during the maintenance period are included in the optimal category according to growth requirements. Cultivation of L. vannamei with high salinity can increase growth rate and survival and optimize water quality.
