Abstract

The quality of water in a body of water has a very important role in supporting the survival and sustainability of the organisms that live in it. One of the important indicators of seawater quality is the physical and chemical parameters, including seawater temperature and pH. Temperature is a measure of the energy of molecular movement that plays a crucial role in regulating biological processes and the distribution of organisms. Meanwhile, variations in pH values can cause changes and imbalances in CO₂ levels that may endanger marine ecosystems. The purpose of this research is to design and develop a microcontroller-based seawater temperature and pH measuring device using a DS18B20 temperature sensor and a 4502C pH sensor. The results show that the device can detect water quality parameters in real time with an average accuracy of 99% when compared to standard measuring instruments. This research concludes that the designed device is effective, reliable, and easy to use for monitoring seawater quality. The implication of this study is that it can provide a low-cost and practical solution for environmental monitoring, support sustainable marine resource management, and be further developed into an integrated system for wider applications.

Abstract

Salt production in the form of coarse salt has a quality with a NaCl salt content of about 94%, which can still meet the requirements as raw material for table salt. Meanwhile, the minimum quality of salt containing NaCl content is required at least 97% for industrial salt needs. Hence, this research aimed to increase the quality of coarse salt from salt farmers to raise the salt selling value by producing health salt. The research method included making a salt house, making salt water with a baume content of about 25-29 Bé°, crystallization, and filtering / draining the Health Salt. The next step was the salt mineral test using the spectrophotometer method. The test results showed that the NaCl content reached 99.35%, while the SNI: 8027:2016 requires a minimum of 97% as industrial salt. Crystal salts are pollutants-free due to the levels of heavy metals (Cadmium, Cd), Mercury (Hg), and minerals that are harmful to health. Iodine, Magnesium, and Calcium are smaller, and the results of laboratory tests are 0.001 mg/kg when compared with SNI: 8027:2016 of 0.1% maximum. Bittern produces very prominent data, namely Magnesium (Mg) with the highest content of 616.67 mg/kg and Potassium (K) of 84.85 mg/kg. It was concluded that the resulting crystal salt qualified as industrial and health salt.

The movement is caused by the influence of the attractive forces between the earth, moon and sun. Tidal data can provide an overview of hydrodynamics in coastal areas and can be used for development planning and disaster mitigation in coastal areas. To find out the tides can be done by direct measurements in the field or can be done by modeling. This study aims to model the tides of the Karawang coast and is used to determine the tidal inundation that often occurs on the coast of Karawang. The method used in this tidal modeling is the Flexible Mesh Simulation Method found in Mike 2 Software using bathymetry, coastline and topography data. From the results of tidal modeling in the Karawang Waters, it is known that the tidal type is a mixed type with a single daily slope and the Fomzhal value is 2.85. The highest tide will occur on March 8, 2021 with an interval of 2 hours and an elevation of 0.20-0.42m. Prediction of the highest tidal flood inundation will occur on March 13, 2021 with an interval of 3 hours and an elevation value ranging from 0.11-0.15 m on the coast of Pedes District with an inundation area of 38.69 km2.

Abstract

"Krosok" salt, or "Crude Solar Salt", is salt produced through the evaporation and crystallization of seawater. Some krosok salts have different qualities, and this is influenced by the quality of seawater as raw material, available production facilities and post-harvest handling. This krosok salt is mainly produced by salt farmers along the north coast of Karawang Regency. This study aimed to determine the quality of krosok salt obtained from salt farmers in Karawang Regency and to raise salt quality standards to increase the sale value of salt by creating healthy and industrial salt products. The method is to re-crystallize the "krosok" salt by adding binders or additives. Based on the results of the salt crystal test in the laboratory, it is known that the crystallization of "krosok" salt in Karawang Regency has a NaCl content of up to 99.35%; this value is already above the SNI quality standard of 98% as health salt. Meanwhile, for hazardous materials such as (Hg) and (As), the content is around 0.001%, below the SNI threshold of 0.1%.

Abstract

Salt is a product from marine resources which is a strategic commodity as an industrial raw material and food for the community. However, the condition of national salting is currently still not conducive, this is because salt production, both quantity and quality, is still insufficient and sufficient to meet national salt needs. This research aims to compare the effectiveness of traditional techniques and heating techniques in aging seawater for the seawater crystallization process in making salt. With this research, it is hoped that there will be the latest technological innovations to speed up the time for making salt with maintained quality, good quantity and profit so that national salt needs can be met. From this research it can be concluded that the use of heating techniques is more effective than traditional techniques because it can minimize the aging time of sea water and can increase the quantity of salt produced.

Abstract

Mangrove forest is a type of forest found in tidal areas which are inundated at high tide and dry at low tide. Gastropods are biota that are closely related to mangrove ecosystems and are found in many environmental conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine the community structure between mangroves and gastropods associated with mangrove forest areas in Kampung Laut Coast, Cilacap Regency. The results obtained for the most mangrove species were Rhizophora apiculata and Brugeria. Mangrove canopy cover value of 75.56% is included in the good category with dense density. There were 6 types of gastropods associated with mangroves, namely Caenogastropoda, Cycloneritida, Ellobiidae, Neritidae, Potamididae, and Muricidae. The relationship between mangrove ecosystems and gastropods in the Kampung Laut coast is very close. This is due to the fact that most of this area is overgrown with mangrove species Rhizopora spp which are very popular with gastropods.
