Abstract

Handmade art encompasses various forms of handicraft art created by humans, including knitting. Knitting is a needlework activity that utilizes thread and hook needles. It encompasses different techniques such as embroidery, weaving, crocheting, and knitting itself. Additional activities like lacework, quilting, embroidery, needlepoint, and rugs are also considered part of the knitting realm. Although knitting and crochet are sometimes used interchangeably, they have distinct meanings. Crochet can be created using either manual or mechanical methods, employing a special hook needle to create desired shapes by hooking the thread under the previous loops. Crochet work is known for its textured appearance, with the texture varying depending on the stitches used. Examples of crochet stitches include chains, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, double trebles, slip stitch, blocks, picots, cross stitch, clusters, knots stitch, and popcorn stitch.

Abstract

Chlorella sorokiniana is a microalgae with an outstanding nutritional profile and numerous therapeutic substances that can be used as an immunostimulant, including in aquaculture. This research aimed to investigate and characterize peptides isolated from C. sorokiniana protein using TCA digestion and hydrolyzed enzymatically with trypsin. Peptides were then subsequently identified using Tandem LC-MS/MS and Mascot Distiller. Results showed that the percentage of pure protein yield following TCA digestion was 54.66%, and 12 peptides with lengths ranging from 7 to 23 sequences were discovered after trypsin digestion. These peptides originated from various enzymes and chloroplast proteins, including protein synthesis elongation factor TU, photosystem I iron-sulfur center, photosystem II 43 kDa, Ycf4, ATP-dependent zinc metalloprotease FtsH homolog, nitrate reductase, chloroplastic glucose-6-phospate dehydrogenase, and ATP synthase CF1 alpha chain. These findings demonstrated that C. sorokiniana might serve as a source of immunostimulant peptides and proteins, particularly for aquaculture biota.

Abstract

Sea water intrusion is a process where sea water is mixed with underground water around the coast, causing the ground water to become salty because it is contaminated by sea water which is rich in salt. Sea air that enters the ground causes the air to become unfit for consumption and causes the land to become unproductive for planting. People in the Pakis Jaya area, Karawang face difficulties, especially regarding land use for agricultural activities. This is because the land used for cultivating plants is saline soil with a high salt content. Phytoremediation is a method used to clean air or soil contaminated with pollutants, by using the ability of plants to absorb these substances. Cynodon Dactylon and lolium Perenne Brightstar plants are a type of grass that can be used to reduce high salt levels in the soil because these plants are able to live in places with high salinity and also have the ability to reduce salinity by absorbing chloride ions in it. The methods used in this research consisted of: Sampling Process, Plant Acclimatization Stage, Salinity Concentration Test before and after planting grass in Soil Media. The test results showed that the salt content in the soil before planting was 19.20 dS/m and after planting it was 0.02-0.03 dS/M.

Abstract

Green tea is a plant that has polyphenolic active compounds. Polyphenols are a group of compounds that act as natural antioxidants. Antioxidants are needed by the body to protect the body from free radical attacks. The polyphenol content in the tea leaves itself is influenced by the weather, variety, soil type, and the degree of maturity of the leaves when picked. Therefore, in this study green tea shoots were used because the polyphenol content and antioxidant activity of green tea in the shoots are known to be greater than the leaves on the stalks below. This study aims to determine the levels of polyphenols in green tea shoots using distilled water, 50% ethanol; 96% ethanol and determine the value of antioxidant activity obtained from the results of samples that have the highest levels of total polyphenols by maceration method for 24 hours. The results of maceration are then separated between the filtrate and the precipitate. Then the filtrate is concentrated to obtain a thick extract and removes the remaining solvent using a rotary evaporator that is set to a pressure of 1 bar and a temperature below the boiling point of the solvent. Furthermore, the viscous extract obtained was tested by the Follin-Ciocalteu method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 765 nm and gallic acid as a standard to determine the levels of polyphenolic compounds. The test results for the highest levels of polyphenols were tested for antioxidant activity using the DPPH method (2,2 Diphenyl -1-Pikrylhidrazyl) which causes a color change and then measured using a spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 512 nm. Antioxidant activity can be seen from the IC50 (inhibitory concentration) value or the concentration that can reduce 50% of free radicals because the lower the IC50 value, the greater the antioxidant activity. The results showed that the levels of polyphenols in green tea shoot extract were respectively 16.47%; 22.16%; 18.09% so that the highest levels of polyphenols were obtained in green tea leaf extract macerated using 50% ethanol solvent. The results of the antioxidant activity test on samples using 50% ethanol solvent obtained an IC50 value of 5.7 ppm and included in the very good category.
