Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence the absorption of micro and small industrial workers in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data sourced from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics with the research variables grouped into two parts, namely the dependent variable which in this study is defined as the absorption of small micro-industrial workers and the independent variables consisting of capital, wage levels and output values. This study uses panel data regression analysis with the selected method, namely the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The results of the research in the analysis of the micro-industry equation show that capital and wage levels have a positive and significant effect on the absorption of micro-industrial labor in Indonesia, while the output value has a positive and insignificant effect on the absorption of micro-industrial labor in Indonesia. The results of the research in the small industry equation analysis show that capital has a positive and insignificant effect on the absorption of small industry workers in Indonesia, while the wage rate and output value have a positive and significant effect on the absorption of small industry workers in Indonesia.

The data used in this study is the National Socio-Economic Survey in 2016. Using the Quadratic Almost Ideal Demand System equation, this study found that tobacco expenditure has a negative and significant effect on almost all types of household expenditures, such as fuel, education, entertainment, clothing, health, and durable goods. Household durable goods expenditure is the most displaced or sacrificed, followed by education expenditure. This finding reveals tobacco consumption has effect on human capital investment and long-run economic growth in West Sumatra.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk (CWLS) empowerment programs on beneficiaries’ welfare, financial inclusion, social participation, and spirituality. Using questionnaires administered to the beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of the empowerment programs in Central Lampung, South Tangerang, Trenggalek East Java, and Bima Nusa Tenggara Indonesia, the study constructs three impact indicators: the welfare index, financial inclusion index, and social and spiritual index. The data are analyzed using the difference-in-difference (DiD) method, where the three impact indices are compared between the two groups of respondents in 2021 and 2022. We find that the CWLS empowerment programs improve the welfare and financial inclusion of beneficiaries but have no discernible effect on social and spiritual participation. However, the DID analysis reveals that the overall impacts of welfare, financial inclusion, and social and spiritual participation are not statistically different between beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries in 2021 and 2022. This study provides significant implications for policymakers and nadzir to enhance the impacts of CWLS on socioeconomic development and poverty alleviation. Abstract

The large income distribution inequality in developing countries indicates the high inequality that occurs. This study aims to analyze the effect of financial inclusion on income distribution inequality in 92 developing countries in 2010-2019. The dependent variable in this study is income distribution inequality and the independent variables consist of financial inclusion with indicators of the number of bank branches, the number of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), and the proportion of bank loans to GDP. The control variables used in this study are Foreign Direct Investment, Trade Openness, Inflation, Labour, and Economic Growth. The analysis uses System Generalized Method of Moments (Sys-GMM) two-step estimator. The results show that access to financial services from bank branches and ATMs used has an effect on income distribution inequality, while the proportion of bank loans has no significant effect on income distribution inequality in developing countries
