Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of horizontal mismatches on labor wages from various wage groups. This research uses a quantitative approach with secondary data from the 2020 BPS National Labor Force Survey. The method used is quantile regression by dividing wages into 5 quantiles (0.10, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 0.90). The results show that horizontal mismatch at the D1-D3 education level has a negative and significant effect on labor wages at the middle and lower middle wage levels. This is because the ability to transfer knowledge from education and training of vocational graduates is limited. However, this is inversely proportional to the high wage level, horizontal mismatch has a positive and significant effect on labor wages. Meanwhile, horizontal mismatch at the D4-S3 education level has a positive and significant effect in all quantiles, this is because bachelor graduates have more job opportunities than vocational graduates.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to determine the impact of basic needs inflation on household expenditure patterns in Indonesia. This research is quantitative research using secondary data from the 2020 BPS National Socio-Economic Survey. The analysis used is descriptive analysis and inductive analysis. In inductive analysis, this research uses the QUAIDS (Quadratic Almost Ideal Demand System) approach to analyze the impact of rising prices of basic necessities on household consumption expenditure patterns in Indonesia. The results of this research show that the increase in prices of basic necessities has a negative and significant impact on several types of household consumption expenditure, namely food, transportation and communication. Household expenditure on food is the one that suffers the most if there is an increase in the price of basic necessities, followed by communications and transportation expenditure.

Abstract

This research seeks to examine the impact of urban growth on poverty rates in Indonesia over the period of 1994-2023, taking the Human Development Index (HDI) and economic progress as control variables into account. The analysis was conducted using the ordinary least squares regression technique, utilizing both long-term and short-term perspectives (Error Correction Model). The findings indicate that, in the long run, the urban growth coefficient of 0.527062 exhibits a positive correlation with poverty but lacks significance (Prob. 0.2132 > 0.05). In contrast, in the short term, the urban growth coefficient of 0.9688 demonstrates a significant positive effect on variations in poverty rates (Prob. 0.0380 < 0.05). The HDI reveals a coefficient of -1.302436, indicating a substantial negative influence on poverty in the long term (Prob. 0.0239 < 0.05), although it is insignificant in the short term (Prob. 0.2431 > 0.05). Economic progress significantly and negatively impacts poverty, with a long-term coefficient of -0.316407 (Prob. 0.0062 < 0.05) and a short-term coefficient of -0.1968 (Prob. 0.0002 < 0.05). This study advocates for a more inclusive approach to urbanization management, enhancement of HDI, and pursuit of sustainable economic growth as viable strategies for alleviating poverty in Indonesia.
