Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to determine the influence of consumer behaviour and interests on purchasing decisions for used clothing in Lubuk Pakam City. Design/Method/Approach: This research method is quantitative and associative. The type of data in this research is primary data. The data source was obtained from consumers through distributing questionnaires to consumers purchasing used clothing in Lubuk Pakam, who will be used as samples in the research. The population in this study was 93,064 people. The sample in this study was taken using a probability sampling technique using the Slovin formula, with a sample size of as many as 100 respondents. The data analysis used is multiple linear regressions. Findings: The results show that consumer behaviour has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, indicating that purchasing second-hand clothing is primarily motivated by price considerations, product quality, and trend-following behaviour. Conversely, consumer interest does not significantly affect purchasing decisions, suggesting that although consumers may be attracted to second-hand clothing, it does not automatically translate into actual purchases, likely due to social stigma or hygiene concerns. Simultaneously, consumer behaviour and interest together significantly influence purchasing decisions, confirming that decision-making in this market is multifactorial and cannot rely solely on interest alone. Originality/Values: These findings contribute theoretically by enhancing the understanding of consumer behaviour in second-hand clothing purchases and offer direct practical implementations. For business actors, the insights enable the design of more targeted marketing strategies that emphasise consumer behaviour factors such as price sensitivity, brand perception, and trend adoption, rather than solely relying on consumer interest. For policymakers, the results support the development of more balanced regulations that protect public health and promote local industries while accommodating the strong consumer demand for second-hand clothing. Additionally, the findings help advocate for programs that ensure hygiene standards and legal compliance in the second-hand clothing trade in cities like Lubuk Pakam.

Abstract

This study seeks to explore how inflation affects and government expenditure on the improvement of Islamic finance in Indonesia during the period 2015–2024. This study utilizes a quantitative method with the application of multiple linear regression analysis with time series data. Annual data from 2015 to 2024 is used to test the proposed hypotheses. The result is according to the findings from the multiple linear regression analysis conducted on the data for 2015–2024, as well as the discussion outlined previously, the data allows for these conclusions is Inflation indicates a meaningful and positive impact on the growth of Islamic finance in Indonesia. These results indicate that rising inflation actually drives the growth of the Islamic finance market share. This is possible due to the growing public preference for value-based and stability-based financial systems, such as Islamic financing, which prioritizes the principles of fairness and is free from interest. Government consumption expenditure (state spending) also has a positive and significant impact on Islamic financial growth. This demonstrates that government fiscal intervention through public spending can expand access to Islamic financing, particularly in the productive sector and the lower-middle class. Simultaneously, inflation and government spending significantly influenced Islamic financial growth. With an R-squared value of 0.874, these two variables together explained 87.4% of the variation in Islamic financial growth during the study period.

Abstract

Zakat as a scientific and teaching discourse has undergone modernization. However, the pattern of modernization itself is not uniform. This article will describe three patterns of efforts to modernize zakat in Indonesia through the thoughts of three figures, namely Masdar Farid Mas'udi, Safwan Idris and Didin Hafidhuddin. This research is qualitative and literary in nature in the scope of studying figures' thoughts using a historical-sociological approach.  Data was taken from the three main books of the figures, then analyzed using descriptive, synthetic and comparative analysis techniques which focused on categorical analysis. The results of this research show that the three figures offer modernization of zakat related to understanding the concept of zakat, sources of zakat, distribution of zakat, the relationship between tax and zakat, and modernization of zakat institutions. Masdar modernized zakat by reconstructing the concept of zakat, by reconstructing the concepts of qath'i-zhanni and sunnah-hadith. The criticism is mainly related to taxes, which do not have the spirit of zakat. Safwan Idris is trying to reform the management of zakat and understand zakat as sunnatullah, not as sunnatul-insan. Didin Hafidhuddin responded to the modernization of zakat by expanding zakat sources based on a modern economy. Their thoughts are quite relevant in the current development of zakat management in Indonesia, although not all of their thoughts have been accommodated.

Abstract

This study aims to examine a community-based economic empowerment model rooted in local wisdom, using a case study of the Red and White Crackers business in Banjar Kobun Village, Panyabungan District, Mandailing Natal Regency. This enterprise not only serves as the primary source of livelihood for the local community but also reflects cultural values and local traditions. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, utilizing in-depth interviews with 20 business actors and one key informant for further analysis. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify key patterns related to forms of economic empowerment and local wisdom values. The findings reveal that the Red and White Crackers business significantly improves community welfare, reduces unemployment rates, and strengthens local cultural identity. The identified empowerment model is participatory, prioritizes the principle of maslahah (public interest), and opens opportunities for development through marketing digitalization, strengthening local institutions, and cross-sector collaboration. However, while the descriptive qualitative method provides a rich narrative, the absence of comparative analysis limits the generalizability of the findings. This study could be strengthened by integrating data from other similar communities to assess whether the empowerment model can be widely adopted or remains unique to this specific context. The study concludes that community-based economic empowerment rooted in local wisdom is an effective strategy for creating sustainable and inclusive economic development and has the potential to be replicated in other regions with similar cultural characteristics.
