Abstract

Verba Bahasa Bali ‘merasakan’ dapat diekspresikan dengan beberapa jenis leksikon yang memiliki medan makna yang sama yaitu rasa sakit pada anggota tubuh.  Melalui pendekatan MSA (Metabahasa Semantik Alami) dapat diungkap bahwa masing-masing leksikon memiliki makna yang berbeda meskipun  berada pada medan makna yang sama. Hal ini terjadi karena ciri semantik setiap leksikon bisa digambarkan melalui telaah mendalam metabahasa yaitu dengan mengungkap ciri makna asalinya sehingga perbedaan makna yang halus sekalipun bisa dipetakan. Teori NSM (Natural Semantic Metalanguage) mampu membedah sehingga menghasilkan analisis yang mendekati postulat ilmu semantik, yakni satu bentuk untuk satu makna dan satu makna diungkap satu butir leksikon.Kata kunci: Verba Merasakan, Makna Asal

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study purposed at researching the application of conceptual metaphor in teaching of Jesusin John‟s Gospel. The research used qualitative data through text analysis in teachings in John‟sGospel. This research method aimed to explain metaphors and its correspondences betweenSource Domain (SD) and Target Domain (TD). Metaphorical categories were used to classifythe data based on the metaphorical expressions that found in the text of John‟s Gospel. Theanalysis data was explained by ontologism and epistemic. Firstly, the data were collected,selected and classified by three metaphorical categories; there are orientational metaphors,ontological metaphors and structural metaphors. Secondly, to overcome the meaning thatcontained in metaphorical expressions, the data were analyzed to find the correspondence of SDand TD by using ontologism and epistemic.While ontologism is telling about the generalmeaning in reality and epistemic is how the researcher can find any other meaning through thecontext or metaphorical concept.Keywords: metaphorical categories, correspondences, analysis strategies.ABSTRAKTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penggunaan metafora konseptual dalamajaran di Injil Yohanes. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatifuntuk menganalisis ajaran yang terdapat pada Inil Yohanes. Metode penelitian yang digunakanadalah metafora dan korespondensi antara ranah sumber (RS) dan ranah target (RT). Datapada ajaran Injil Yohanes yang mengandung metafora diklasifikasi dengan kategori metafora.Kemudian dianalisis secara ontologis dan epistemis. Tahap pertama, data dikumpulkan,diseleksi dan diklasifikasi berdasarkan tiga kategori metafora, yaitu: metafora orientasional,metafora ontologikal dan metafora structural. Tahap kedua, untuk menghasilkan arti yangterkandung dalam data metafora tersebut, data dianalisis dengan mengkorespondensikan RSdan RT secara ontologis dan epistemis. Ontologis adalah proses bagaimana data tersebut dapatdijelaskan secara harfiah dalam arti sebenarnya dan epistemis adalah bagaimana data tersebutdapat diartikan kemudian dihubungkan ke dalam konsep yang lainnya.Kata Kunci: kategori metafora, korespondensi, strategi analisis.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi aplikasi metafora konseptual dalam perumpamaan yang terdapat dalam Injil Lukas dan strategi penerjemahan yang diterapkan dalammenerjemahkan metafora konseptual dari Bahasa Inggris ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam bentuk analisis teks yang digunakan untukmenganalisis karya penerjemahan berdasarkan korpus paralel dari English version New Living Translation Bible diterbitkan tahun 2008 oleh Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia (teks sumber subkorpus) dan terjemahannya ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia (teks target sub korpus). Ungkapanungkapanmetaforis pada kedua sub korpus diidentifikasi menggunakan teknik reduksi data dengan cara data dikumpulkan, diseleksi, disederhanakan dan diabstraksikan. Setelah dilakukanpemetaan konseptual terhadap perumpamaan ditemukan metafora konseptual yang meliputi ketiga jenis kategori dari metafora konseptual, yaitu  metafora orientasional, metafora ontologis,dan metafora struktural. Untuk mengatasi masalah dalam penerjemahan metafora konseptual,penerjemah menerapkan strategi penerjemahan yang berorientasi pada bahasa target (BT) berdasarkan penerapan sejumlah teknik penerjemahkan. Katakunci: metafora konseptual, strategi penerjemahan. ABSTRACT This study aims to explore the application of conceptual metaphor in the parable found in Lukeand translation strategies adopted in the conceptual metaphors translate from English into Indonesian. This study used qualitative methods in the form of text analysis is used to analyze thework of translation based on a corpus of parallel English Version New Living Translation Bible was published in 2008 by Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia (text source sub corpus) and its translationinto Indonesian (target text sub corpus) , Metaphorical expressions in the two sub corpus identified using data reduction techniques with the way data is collected, selected, simplified andabstracted. After the conceptual mapping of the parable is found conceptual metaphor thatincludes three types of categories of conceptual metaphor, namely orientasional metaphor, ontological metaphor and structural metaphor. To overcome the problem of conceptualmetaphor in translation, the translator translation-oriented strategy in the target language (BT) by the application of a number of translating techniques.Keywords: conceptual metaphor, translation strategies

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis thesis presents a cognitive approach in order to identify the categories of conceptualmetaphor and to know the conceptual mapping of those conceptual metaphors found onthe parable of the Gospel of Luke.The qualitative research method was used to analyzethedata in the parable of Luke and supported by purposive sampling technique. Theconceptual metaphor theory by Lakoff and Johnson (1980, 1993, 2003) was used todistinguished the categories of metaphor which are orientational, ontological, andstructural which then mapped into different kinds of conceptual metaphormappings.Firstly, the data were collected, selected, and classified into three metaphoricalcategories which are orientational, ontological, and structural metaphor. Then, the datawere analyzed to find the correspondence of source domain and concrete domain andfrom there the data were mapped through conceptual mapping. The findings are in theparable of Luke, there are more structural metaphor than the other metaphors which areorientational and ontologicalmetaphor. There are 2 data belong to orientational metaphor,3 data are belong to ontological metaphor, and 7 data are belong to structural metaphor.Keywords: conceptual metaphor, conceptual mapping, correspondencesABSTRAKSkripsi ini menggunakan pendekatan kognitif untuk mengidentifikasi kategori konseptualmetafora dan untuk mengetahui pemetaan konseptual dari metafora yang terdapat dalamperumpamaan injil Lukas. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dandidukung dengan teknik pengambilan sampel.Teori konseptual metafora dari Lakoff danJohnson (1980, 1993, 2003) digunakan untuk membedakan kategori metafora antara lainmetafora orientasi, ontologis, dan struktural yang kemudian dipetakan ke dalampemetaan konseptual metafora yang berbeda. Pertama-tama data dikumpulkan, dipilih,dan diklasifikasi ke dalam tiga kategori metafora antara lain metafora orientasi,ontologis, dan struktural.Kemudian data dianalisis untuk menemukan korespondensidari ranah sumber dan ranah sasaran dan dari sana, data dipetakan melalui pemetaankonseptual. Hasil yang didapat dalam injil Lukas antara lain terdapat lebih banyakmetafora struktural daripada metafora lain yakni metafora orientasi dan ontologis.Terdapat 2 data yang tergolong metafora orientasi, 3 data tergolong metafora ontologis,dan 7 data tergolong metafora struktural.Kata kunci: metafora konseptual, pemetaan konseptual, korespondensi

Abstract

Speech style is the form of language used by the speaker influenced by social factors. Ethnography of communication is an approach a perspective and method to and is a study culturally distinctive means and meanings of communication. This study aims to identify types of speech style using theory of speech style proposed by Joos (1972). The qualitative method was used in this study where the data was taken from the utterance of speech style and the ethnography of the communication found in Mr. Joko Widodo’s speech at G20 Summit Bali Indonesia on YouTube and Cabinet Secretariat Indonesia website using observation, documentation, and note-taking technique. The analysis showed that the utterance of Mr. Joko Widodo’s speech used five types of speech style, there were: Frozen style 5, formal style 15, consultative style 1, casual style 1, and intimate style 1.

Abstract

This study aims to analyzes the translation procedures and culture in specific terms intranslating a book Bahasa Inggris Untuk Pemandu Wisata. The strategy of translation divided intoprocedure and method this study only discuss Procedure and Culture in specific terms (Newmark,1988). This study approach a qualitative methods and the data was taken from the book BahasaInggris Untuk Pemandu Wisata (Dewi et al., 2019), The data collected by Observation, note takingand non participation interview, from english as a source language (SL) into bahasa indonesia as atarget language (TL), the results source there were, transference 17.39%, naturalization 21.73%,cultural equivalence 4.35%, functional 2.17%, descriptive equivalence 6.53%, synonymy 6.53%,through translation 4.35%, transposition 28.26%, recognize translation 4.35%, couplets 4.35% oftotal 46 data and result of culture categories in data analyzed include ecologi 25%, material culture35%, socio-cultural 15%, organizations, traditions, activities, and concepts 15% Finally, thecategory of movements and habits 10%, In conclusion, the result show that this book contains alot of transposition translation procedures seen from the results with the highest percentage about28.26% and contains cultural terms related to food, clothing, houses, cities, and transportationseen from the highest percentage of results in the material culture category which is 35%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the translation procedure used by the translator in translating the RatuBoko tourist park brochure from English as the source language (SL) to Indonesian as the targetlanguage (TL). Qualitative descriptive method was used in analyzing the data. Data collectiontechniques are carried out by taking notes to collect relevant data from brochures and conducting athorough analysis of the collected data. It includes the seven translation steps proposed by Vinayand Darbelnet (1995), which are divided into two procedures, namely Direct or Literal Translationand Oblique or Free Translation. This analysis process provides an understanding of the strategiesused by translators to communicate messages in brochures accurately and effectively. The focus ofthis research is to analyze data involving the use of seven translation procedures, includingborrowing, calque, literal translation, transposition, modulation, equivalence, and adaptation. Forexample, the word "restaurant" is borrowed from English as the language of origin (SL) andtranslated into "restoran" in Indonesian as the target language (TL). In this study, there were 10data found in the Ratu Boko tourist park brochure.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the English figurative language and its equivalent translation intoIndonesian found in the tourism magazine. The qualitative descriptive method is used in thisstudy to analyze the data. The source of the data was a tourism magazine, Api Bali, EnglishIndonesian version. Data were collected from Api Bali Magazine, Vol. 30. The theory offigurative language types by Tarigan (2009) and lexical equivalent translation, which is usedto obtain word equivalence in figurative language by Larson (1998), is used in this study. Theresult showed that there were five types of figurative language found in the tourism magazine:metaphor, simile, hyperbole, personification, and euphemism. The equivalent translation offigurative language uses related words as equivalents for metaphor and personification,descriptive phrases for hyperbole, and simile and euphemism use literally translation fromsource language to target language

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the types of associative meanings found in the advertisement on Instagram and to analyze the meanings conveyed through the language used in the texts. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The data were collected from selected Instagram captions published on the official @wonderfulindonesia account on November 2024. The results revealed a total of 25 data that reflected different types of associative meanings. Connotative meanings emphasized natural beauty and tranquility, social meanings were related to cultural and traditional values, affective meanings evoked emotional engagement, reflective meanings showed symbolic interpretations, and collocative meanings created thematic unity. These associative elements collectively contributed to a persuasive and meaningful depiction of Indonesia as an attractive tourist destination.
