Abstract

The need to measure complex dimensions of social and humanitarian problems such as quality of life, welfare, and health which cannot be measured using classical techniques, provides an opportunity for the fuzzy logic approach to solve these problems thanks to its ability to work within a framework uncertainty, ambiguity, and unclear information. This research aims to prioritize indicators for measuring employee well-being at the Oro Kopi Gayo company in conditions of uncertainty. Using Chang's Extent Analysis Method in the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process, this paper evaluates five main components of employee well-being: work satisfaction, organizational respect for the employee, employer care, positive/negative emotions, and intrusion of work into private life. It is hoped that the results of this research can be used as a reference in further research to determine the influence of these five criteria on employee well-being at the Oro Kopi Gayo company

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the temporal trends of rainfall and temperature in North Sumatra Province, focusing on the Medan and Deli Serdang regions. The data used in this study was obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of North Sumatra (BPS Sumut) and spans the period from January 2000 to December 2022. The Mann-Kendall test was applied to identify trends, Sen's Slope Estimator measured the trend slope, and Pearson correlation analysis assessed the relationship between rainfall and temperature. Key findings indicate that Medan has a higher monthly rainfall average than Deli Serdang, with both regions showing a significant increasing trend in rainfall, although the rise is gradual. Additionally, a positive trend in temperature was identified, reflecting broader climate change patterns. However, the correlation between rainfall and temperature was weak, indicating minimal direct interaction between these variables in the study areas. These results contribute valuable insights into climate dynamics and are critical for the development of climate change adaptation strategies in North Sumatra Province.

Abstract

The quality of services provided by logistics providers has a direct impact on an organization's business. Organizations need to critically evaluate the performance of their LSPs and choose service providers rationally. LSPs understand the importance of service quality to their survival and growth and strive to provide high-quality services. PT Pos Logistik Indonesia (PLI) is a company that operates in the field of Logistics Delivery Services which can include documents, electronic products, logistics, and others.  PT Pos Logistik Indonesia (PLI) in Langsa City should have criteria as a logistics service provider to ensure customer satisfaction. This research aims to analyze these criteria through a survey collected from 120 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) organizations in Langsa City that use the services of PT Pos Logistik Indonesia (PLI). Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are individual business entities or legal entities that have small initial capital, or a small value of wealth (assets) and a small (limited) number of employees. Questionnaire strategies were used to identify criteria selection-based sustainable logistics service quality (SLSQ) theoretical framework, that is sustainable transport elements, training, collaboration, sustainable packaging, and sustainable information. The explanatory factor analysis method was employed. The top three ranked criteria for evaluating logistics service provider criteria selection based on sustainable logistics service quality are the trained PLI employees, the sustainable packaging, and the commitment to environmental goals. Through this research, it confirms that sustainable logistics practices can bring value to PLI as LSPs and better improve their performance and customer satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to explore high school students’ numeracy literacy skills in understanding statistical material through a descriptive qualitative approach. The research involved 25 tenth-grade students from SMA Negeri 2 Kejuruan Muda, selected purposively based on varying levels of numeracy proficiency. Data were collected using context-based diagnostic tests and semi-structured interviews, and analyzed through the stages of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that only a small portion of students were able to accurately interpret numerical information and relate it to real-life contexts. Students with moderate proficiency tended to rely on procedural routines without deeper conceptual understanding, while those with low proficiency exhibited misconceptions in interpreting symbols and contextual meaning. These results highlight the need for more contextual and interactive teaching strategies to help students develop meaningful and relevant understanding of statistical concepts.   Keyword: Conceptual Understanding, Contextual Teaching Model, Mathematics, Numeracy Literacy, Statistics.

Abstract

In the business world, advertising plays a crucial role in shaping market dynamics. This study analyzes advertising competition among companies by calculating the optimal profits for two to four competitors and postulating a general formula for a larger number of companies. Sensitivity analysis is employed to observe how changes in advertising parameters affect profits. The simulation results indicate that in the case of four companies, the optimal spending (Xopt) ranges from 137246 to 191288, while the optimal profit (Popt) ranges from 38693.1 to 92702. The sensitivity analysis shows that companies with higher advertising effectiveness achieve greater profits, whereas those with lower effectiveness tend to experience reductions in both allocation and profit. With the aid of Maple and Excel, this research extends previous advertising competition models by providing a comprehensive framework for optimizing advertising budgets in oligopolistic markets.

Abstract

Boredom in educational contexts seems to be a universal academic emotion, and one that is frequently experienced by students across age groups, educational needs, and ethnicity However, despite its significance in the context of mathematics lessons, academic boredom is rarely studied, especially in terms of mathematical modeling. This article proposes a dynamic model of the spread of academic boredom in the context of mathematics lessons using an epidemiological approach, taking a case study in the middle school students. This model divides the student population into four subpopulations or compartments: susceptible (S), exposed (E), infected (I), and recovered (R) from academic boredom in the context of mathematics lessons. The transition process between subpopulations or compartments is influenced by social interactions between students. By using theoretical assumptions that refer to general patterns of social behavior dynamics in adolescents and consideration of the educational context, we explore the model behavior for the spread of academic boredom in the context of mathematics lessons using sensitivity analysis and scenario-based simulation methods. The simulation results indicate that the strength of social interactions between students significantly influences the spread of academic boredom in the context of mathematics lessons. The results of this study provide insights for the policy makers in the middle school students in designing more effective strategies to mitigate academic boredom among students, especially in the context of mathematics lesson. This study opens up opportunities for further, more empirical research by incorporating actual data regarding the decisions of students why they have academic boredom.
