Abstract

Hypertension is a global health concern, increasing annually. Headaches in hypertensive patients indicate high blood pressure levels, affecting brain blood vessels. These headaches should be promptly evaluated and treated for significant health risks. Objective: This study investigates the impact of warm compresses on headache and blood pressure reduction in hypertensive patients. Method: The study, conducted at a community health center in Ngawi Regency, focused on hypertension patients with headaches. The researchers used a one-group pretest posttest design and measured headache pain using the NRS scale before applying a warm compress. Data analysis for this study was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Results: The research results show that the average pain level decreased by 1.18, indicating a significant difference before and after the application of a warm compress. This study also shows that the average systolic blood pressure decreased by 15.87, indicating a significant difference (p-value <0.05) before and after the application of a warm compress. Additionally, the average diastolic blood pressure decreased by 13.27, indicating a significant difference (p-value <0.05) before and after the intervention. Conclusions: there is a significant effect of warm compresses on headache pain and on lowering blood pressure in patients with hypertension.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is an abnormal increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic more than 90 mmHg. Hypertension cannot be cured as a whole, therefore hypertension can recur. One of the factors in the occurrence of recurrence is the use of repeated cooking oil. Repeated cooking oil is cooking oil that has been used repeatedly more than once. The aim of this research to determine the relationship between the behavior of repeated use of cooking oil and the recurrence of hypertension. Methods: The design repeated is correlation with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling with a sample size of 82 respondents. Collecting data using a questionnaire instrument with data processing using the T-score and Chi Square statistical test. The results of this study found that 47 respondents (57.3%) behaved using repeated cooking oil and found that 42 respondents (51.2%) experienced frequent recurrence of hypertension. Result: The results showed a significant relationship between the behavior of using repeated cooking oil and the recurrence rate of hypertension (p = 0.002). Conclusion: Further researchers need to be investigated related to nutritional pattern factors, smoking history, stress and others. In addition, it can be researched regarding the knowledge of the dangers of using repeated cooking oil for health.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic “silent killer” that affects over 1.4 billion people globally. Besides physical symptoms, hypertensive patients often experience anxiety, especially when accompanied by headaches. This study aimed to identify anxiety levels among hypertensive patients with headache and their implications for holistic nursing care. A descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted at Puskesmas Ngawi Purba from February to May 2024. Forty-three hypertensive patients aged 35–55 years experiencing headaches were selected by accidental sampling. Anxiety was measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and pain using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Most respondents were female (69.8%), elderly (60.5%), and obese (44.2%). Moderate anxiety was found in 30.2% of participants, with 79.1% having stage 2 hypertension and 62.8% reporting moderate pain. Hypertensive patients with headache mostly experience moderate anxiety. Holistic nursing care addressing both physical and psychological aspects is essential to enhance blood pressure control and patient well-being.
