Abstract

Abstract

Anxiety is a psychological response that arises from unclear internal stimuli and is characterized by feelings of discomfort, worry, fear, and uneasiness, often accompanied by physical symptoms. This condition can be experienced by anyone, including family members of patients undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where uncertainty and concern about the patient’s condition can significantly increase anxiety levels. Therefore, appropriate and practical interventions are needed to help families manage anxiety and prevent more severe psychological effects. One such intervention is five-finger hypnotic therapy, a simple and non-invasive technique that can be performed independently, anytime and anywhere, and has been shown to be effective in reducing anxiety. This study aims to analyze the effect of five-finger hypnotic therapy on reducing anxiety levels among families of ICU patients at Santa Elisabeth Hospital Medan in 2024. The research employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 30 respondents were selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale and a standardized operating procedure for five-finger hypnosis therapy. The results showed that before the intervention, 23 respondents (76.6%) experienced severe anxiety, while after the intervention, all respondents (100%) reported mild anxiety. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of five-finger hypnotic therapy on anxiety reduction. It is recommended that families continue practicing this therapy regularly to manage anxiety effectively.

Abstract

Background: Futsal is now one of the most popular sports in the community. This can be seen from the existence of futsal courts in almost every region, whether they meet the standards or not. This achievement sport is well organized, has a planned program, and sets certain targets to reach the peak of achievement. One important component in the physical condition needed in the game of futsal is the explosive power (power) of the leg muscles. Explosive power is defined as the ability of a muscle to face resistance with a very fast contraction. This concept includes a combination of strength and speed of muscle contraction that is dynamic and explosive, where the muscle must release maximum strength in the fastest possible time. Objective: To determine the effect of giving Plyometric Hurdle Jump on lower limb muscle explosiveness in futsal players. Methods: This study uses an experimental type with a quasi-experimental approach pre test and post test design with one group. The sample of this study amounted to 15 people with meetings 2 times a week for 8 meetings. Results: normality test with Shapiro Wilk Test obtained data before and after not normally distributed p <0.05. Based on the analysis using the Wilcoxon test, the p-value = (0.002 <0.05) then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Conclusion: there is an effect of Plyometric Hurdle Jump on the explosive power of the lower leg muscles of futsal players

Abstract

Background: The age of 3–4 years is a critical period for children’s language development, strongly influenced by environmental stimulation, particularly from mothers as primary caregivers. Storytelling is a simple and practical method for language stimulation, yet quantitative evidence of its effectiveness in community or family settings remains limited. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effect of maternal storytelling stimulation on the language development of children aged 3–4 years. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 44 mother–child pairs with children aged 3–4 years were selected through purposive sampling. Participants received education and structured guidance to implement storytelling-based language stimulation over four weeks. Children’s language development was assessed using a language screening instrument adapted from the KPSP. As the data were not normally distributed, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for analysis with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The findings demonstrated a statistically significant increase in children’s language development scores following the intervention. Conclusion: Maternal stimulation using the storytelling method significantly improves language development in children aged 3–4 years. This approach is recommended as an evidence-based language stimulation strategy at the family and community levels
